  1. What is the wheel in this case? It might help knowing the model etc.
  2. M20b25 (or b27 with 885 head) will be the easiest swap. Converting to manual is easy with the engine out. M30 will be a more difficult swap, but is well documented. M30 manual boxes are harder to find. Also keep in mind upgrading your brakes and suspension at the same time to match the increase in power (and weight if m30)
  3. What engine do you have currently? As all m20 gearboxes are interchangeable. A factory BMW (ie not alpina etc) m20b27 is a low revving economy engine and needs a head swap at a minimum to make power. You could look for an m30b35 as it's better than a b33 and a more worthwhile swap. EDIT: you can't use an m20 gearbox on an m30
  4. @GorGasm that's actually pretty cool, though the jury's still out on the interior (the backseat looks like a 70s couch lol)
  5. I really need to downsize first...
  6. Thanks! Now I don't have to turn up to the AGM in a jappa lol
  7. @Olaf No, I bought it earlier this year. It's an ex-army short wheel base radio one (88" FFR), with 24v electrics and a generator the size of my head. I'm currently restoring it with my cousin in Hamilton. Once it's done (enough) I'll post it up in the other euros section. And yes you can buy the 6x6 one's surplus, my Nana nearly bought one Back to BMWs... It runs much better now, temps are good, power is good, idle is smooth and it's back to being a joy to drive
  8. It was actually quite entertaining (in light of the fact we didn't get scammed, I'm assuming) how pissy he was getting that we weren't willing to play by his rules. I even tried to be nice lol
  9. 29USD ? Idles better, will take it for a spin after dinner Edit: 96USD total for an oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, both intake elbows and the right angle pipe connector coming out of the first elbow.
  10. Nothing like getting home from work to goodies! Hopefully I'll have everything sorted and running again tonight.
  11. @EURO V12 isn't that the getrag 240 you're thinking of?
  12. If they were sports seats I would totally run them, just not sure how well they'd work with dark blue though...
  13. Maybe we need a tool thread? I'm happy to start one, just need to clean and sort them...
  14. Does that me we all drive koenigseggs (or should I say conegseggs)?
  15. So I think I found the problem... Fingers crossed replacing this fixes it (pretty sure it will haha) Here's the tool picture you asked for @Olaf
  16. @Young Thrash Driver pretty sure your question didn't help in that regard lol
  17. @Olaf if the weather is good this weekend I'll get some. Yeah, I'm pretty happy, no more getting soaked working on the car. @NakiTouring I find it a pain having to go back and forwards all the time if I want any info about them. Plus I'm beyond quick and dirty, I don't need 10 different codes telling me it's misfiring when it's blatantly obvious already. (In all seriousness though I understand they all have a purpose)
  18. @promo that sounds very helpful, I've got torque lite and it's a pain for looking at codes and exceptionally unfriendly for any real time diagnosis (though knowing what to look for would help). Can you remap the backfire/burble on downshifts? I'll likely give you a call/text after work. Cheers
  19. Thanks guys. I'll get the codes and start a new thread with the symptoms. I think I'm leaning towards an air leak more than anything as it's not just one cylinder. On the plus side I can now put a car in the garage so I don't freeze and I got some new tools for my birthday, which should make the whole process a bit more enjoyable.
  20. Not so much of a what I did, but what I diagnosed/happened... E46: Now misfiring... a lot... moving it on the drive is now painful 525e: had my uncle who's a mechanic from way back look at it. His suggestions as to what it's ailments were: Fix the exhaust leak Fix the ICV that currently does nothing The bearings in the gearbox are stuffed. Inspect/replace the engine mounts Inspect/replace the CSB Inspect/replace the driveshaft guibo Look into a vibration dampener for the drive train. Then come back and diagnose further This is going to be fun... Annoyingly the "daily" e46 whilst only having one problem is going to be the hardest to figure out. Also having 4 cars and not being able to drive any of them kinda sucks.
  21. On the Northshore with @gtstarped
  22. I might have an E28 exhaust to collect in Auckland. Would that fit? I'm in Wellington, close to SH1

    E46 Parts

@modz yes, I will have some cloth door cards, half cloth/half leather sports seats, grey/standard hoodlining, not sure about centre console. I need to take these out of my car once I get my leather replacements.
  24. M5x or S5x would be easiest as the gearbox and sump are as bolt up as you're going to get. S38 or v8 would be a mission as the gearbox bell housing pattern and sump are wrong. Anything is possible with enough time and money though EDIT: that probably includes diesels. An m57 one of these would be pretty cool
