Nice example here, price is probably about right https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2725380466.htm

I kinda see them as just long extended test drives really, totally delusional and costly also ?♂️
-
From what I heard from Gerry who owned one and sold it off shore, don’t expect it to be any cheaper then an E60 M5 but likely the problems are different and Alpina specific so pretty hard to get someone who knows what they are doing to work on it if they do come up. High performance cars all have issues, dam beautiful and we considered one. Would love it in my garage
-
Oh and got a X1 for the boss to try save some miles, Jans uses any excuse to drive it as well. Hide the M5 behind it ? on garage duty
-
Hitting 6k already, how’d that happen? Couple of good runs for sure, Turangi pre lockdown, New Plymouth post lockdown. Just me and the M5 on that one, ? bash Mt messenger into submission. God damn thing is a beast when you unleash it, just pulls and pulls. only issue to date is the iDrive reset itself a couple of times on the run, it’s only CIC so likely I’ll update it at some stage anyway. After having non M V8s I can see where the money goes for the difference, it’s just unfortunate that you can only explore those limits too stupid crazy speeds. Give it the full jandel passing on the open road, ALWAYS fires the traction control up, on P zeros and will move to pilot sports when needed, which probably won’t be long ... Coded the stupid fed sound into the cabin out as well, it is pretty quiet but suits on long trips. I’d love more noise but ultimately it’s a five, it should define subtle power, I think it does that pretty good ? Off to Welly Friday, then the club run to castlepoint so feels like a service is coming, thosefront rotors are looking a little warn too ....... ? Best keep driving the i3 to pay for it ? all. Well it’s only money ?

Would have loved a facelift one but went NZ New on a 2012, not regretted it, fantastic vehicle. Purchased from BMW with an Autosure warranty, buying NZ New with history seemed the best option. Keeping away from playing with it, 550 hp no need, never ever short of power, like ever. Wouldn’t want to seriously break it and have avoid warranty ?

Love Mr Geese, his direct communication and great visuals make him a favourite

I quite like the wing, which is somewhat strange as normally it’s a big no, maybe it’s the combo with the wheels. Very nice especially in the colour

Moving on from the E61 but staying with 5 series

Having had an E61 and now an F10, no doubt the F10 is far superior but definitely bigger so make sure your happy with the size. The 6s either way are impressive, although I’ve only had the 8s in both ?♂️. F10 ride and drive is a step up and if you get adaptive dampers you get the best of both worlds suspension wise. I still love the E60 saying that, just with the tech it’s now a bit err -
Coded out a few frustrating things on the F10 and the i3, stupid automatic start stop option on the M5 now doesn’t default on, ?
-
Well I got a set of Style 101s which where a cost option upgrade on the E65. Staggered 20s which I wasn’t super sure on, but in the end am very happy with the result. I think they suit the style without being super OTT. Rides great and zero rubbing, perfect offset and fit. They need a little work however for $800 with Pilot Super Sports that have 3-4mm left I can hardly complain ?

We had about the same space and had a shitty Chinese ride on that was about 2k new. After a year we bought a second hand JD one for about 2k, new price 10k. Difference was black and white. Great piece of kit even though it was substantially older.

Interesting when you see the launches on the M8 comparison, they where awe full looked like it was cold run, in this though true M territory, epic

Em yummy as well,ah the choices
-
Spotted them Gaz, they do look good on the 38s ..... will think on it

Ok so been away for a paint, bit of a mission. Used a guy I heard off, knew it would be cheap and really wanted to tidy it up. Unfortunately it’s a great 2M job, and good 1M job and definite areas of average up close, em well, it was a cheap respray. On the upside all the messy coloured panels are now the same, fading and peeling clear coat all gone, front bumper done and colour coded rocker panels completed. If I want a better job I’ll probably get it wrapped, at least the base is better now. Now I’m after sorting the wheels, 19’s or 20’s and likely a dish look, if I can stretch to some softlines all the better. Then headliner replacement.... on it goes Still better then being the bird I hit on the way down to the tron last week ?

It does feel like I’ve checked in to a lifetime lighter wallet yeah well gotta spend it on something ?

Few ks down and it’s amazing power delivery from what we’ve experienced before. so far no majors, no creaks and groans, just a few fuel stops... although averaging 13.5 l/100 we just went down to Hampton downs and back, overall 11l/100. Road holding and capability is off the charts. loving having a modern HUD, definitely great for speed checking.

Sold the Merc Glenn, Jag unfortunately went a while back, never should have bought a Singapore one. Another story ..... Here’s our thread, the F10 is a mighty car, to much smaller then the 7 to be fear. Great car with the 6 as well in Motorsport trim, better then a 550 with that V8
-
Did a heap of research before we got ours, ultimately we went NZ New and there seems to be a few. Yes they have a few issues, but the motor is generally considered reliable, and no M car comes cheap, to run or maintain. Always go after full service records So far for us best damn thing we did.

Looked quiet hard at these. I would say you’ll get better then 320 open road fuel efficiency but only very slightly, due to the electric start stop and General Electric assistance. Performance top up Is the open road benefit with electric boost for power and passing. Ultimately at town speeds yes beneficial if you can plug in and get a 20-30ks daily commute covered thereby hitting 2l calculated efficiency. Otherwise that’s all BS. Overall a good one car option to a 335 giving performance and reduced fuel cost, with limited city PHEV range great if you do short commutes you’ll really save. Need to justify the cost against what a 335 and running that or for your long distances a diesel.

Epic job Sam, can’t say how impressed it was in person, great outcome makes a special car

Next to its new big bro, gave it a good clean and popped a coat of Menzerna Power Lock sealer, all nice and slick and looking great again. Upto 68ks on the clock, done about 4.5k in four months used a tank of gas in the range extender last month just to keep the fuel fresh and ensure it got a run. Otherwise charging costs are around $35 month, about 30c per kw and avg 7.5ks per kw so zero complaints and I’m constantly getting 120ks with a pretty heavy AC use over summer.

Yeah it looks that way, probably typical Bmw paint job
