  1. If you're in the market for an E39 M5, you'll be searching regularly for one. If you aren't, you either don't know that they're rare or you don't want it that badly. The car was listed twice and did not sell the first time at $19.5k where it was up for about 2 weeks. That's more than enough opportunity for someone to snatch it up if they really wanted it. I chose to capitalise on what I knew was a good opportunity based on the time that I put into analysing market values. 'An enthusiast doesn't flip cars' - that's your opinion. I'm an enthusiast through and through and don't need to justify that to anyone. What makes you think I'm not loving every minute of the driving the car before before it sells? I don't think there's anything more for me or anyone else to add from this point to be honest.
  2. Haha I have had a few.. yes. When I mention risk, I mean I hit buy now on a highly strung M car with no PPI, minimal detail and no confirmation of service history. Now that I have the car and have checked it out, I can confirm it's a good car which has been well looked after with good history. Im sure other e39 M5 owners would vouch for it, though I'm not asking them to. I've listed as a classified so people can inspect it and get a PPI and be satisfied with what they're buying.
  3. Why is it that people are so offended that it's now listed at a higher price? The marker will decide what it's worth. How are capital gains on cars different from capital gains on houses? Its listed at a reasonable price. Nobody has a gun to your head telling you to buy it.. if you're not interested, move along. The fact that I got it for a good price is because I took a risk and bought it- anyone else could have done the same.
  4. Just because it's an amazing car doesn't make it a financial sensible option to keep both the M5 and the M3. I'm going overseas shortly and it was either or and the M3 fits my needs better.
  5. Keen on grabbing magazines for the launch of the E39 M5 and E36 M3
  6. Another little update for the M3. Took the car out for a drive the other night and when giving it the jandal the radiator decide to give up. Not surprising considering it's 25 years old. I was looking for an OEM replacement but my options were limited so I went with a Mishimoto. Pretty good quality but my only gripe with it is that the fitment was a let down. Had to fabricate some aluminium brackets for the oil cooler as there were no mounting points and had to trim bits of plastic here and there on the fan shroud to get clearance around the viscous fan. Happy to have the car back up on its feet, just needs a really good wash. Also managed to replace the drivers seat quick-fold cable which had broken. This ended up being a little bit painful but got there in the end. The other thing which I've done is put the car on some style 24s for a more period correct/original look. Not related to this thread but I picked up an E39 M5 the other day too.. what an incredible car! Bunch of photos below.
  7. I'd like to have it in the next day but if I cant find one locally I'll just have to wait. Cheers Dave
  8. As per title. Need a new radiator ASAP- preferably OEM or OEM equivalent, New/used.
  9. Nah it got sold to someone in Auckland after it came up for sale in Chch the sold to ArrowToys, then Nick Weitz, then myself and now it belongs to a guy in Albany. It's the one I wish I never sold!
  10. Got some Powerflex rear camber arms for sale if you're interested- hardly used.
  11. You've got to be kidding! I would have snatched this up in a heart beat. Looked for ages any nothing came up ?
  12. Pretty strange that the LTW is worth so much.. Sure it looks nice but its not much more than a flash looking e36 '330'. Any euro spec M3 is a far better car for way less money.
  13. It may be cheeky but I reckon fair play. Everyone wants to make some $$ and if you spend enough time researching the market value so that when an opportunity comes up you can jump on it, I think you deserve the margin you make on it. As coop said, there was ample time for an enthusiast to buy it. Sure its depressing seeing an evo vert for 33k but hey, if it wasn't selling in Auckland for 30, it won't sell in Palmy for 33k lol
  14. Looking for a new/used supersprint race exhaust. Would prefer used with a price to suit. Thanks.
  15. Awesome write up Glen! So glad that you've really put some time and effort into it- looks stunning. Such a nice little car.
  16. Only $58,880 now !!!!! Get in while you can.
  17. Good weekend for the M3! Decided on a whim to give the Meremere drags a go and had a blast. Though the car is not competitive by today's standards, I was pretty happy to have gotten a PB of 13.9 at approximately 104mph. (Will find the timeslip) I also replaced the TPS to try solve the slight hesitation issue. The car definitely runs smoother now but still does always have the crisp, sharp rev that it should. I'll have to make the time to get it scanned and diagnosed. Still has all the go that it's supposed to have! Also stoked to have my new plates arrive in the mail today. received_430061327928647.mp4 received_504439176821928.mp4
  18. And who was that? I nearly sealed the deal before the other guy swept me out the way with a big offer
