Ali threads/housings aren't weak, but they are easily (relatively) damaged, just be carefull not to cross thread or otherwise bind them up. Oh, and obviously don't hang the whole weight of it on that thread you just got in a half turn...

Why does it appear there is an ali plug (I'll assume it's steel with just a weird weld/cleaning/camera) welded into one of the ring gear holes? with a cap screw stuck in it for good measure?

I found Jensen Button's casual as review while sideways on the McLaren to be refreshingly different; another one to add to the list of why not get that bloke to host instead of chris evans. The in studio hosting format seems quite awkward still...

I think those are fairly related. The clarkson-less reboot was never going to be like the original, in the same way that TG:US wasn't either. Just enjoy it for what it is, not what it used to be; and they're all quite decent car shows. I think Tanner from US rounds out the trio quite well with someone who is actually a pretty mint driver; another reason to bring Sabine in as a third main host. I'm hoping Chris will get better the eps go on, either by stopping trying so hard, or by me getting used to it.

Given the much higher rpm change the flywheel experiences (especially in first gear) you might find lowering its weight by just a few kg doubles down on your 'spin up' time savings...

NZAD's TM kit is chromoly (steel)...

Brake fluid and seal material compatibility
tawa replied to Michael.'s topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
In a pinch we used nitrile as some dust seals on a brake caliper once. Once. Stick with EP seals unless you want a leaky squidgy mess where your seals used to be. -
One of the other big factors, and one I mostly overlooked; is the compound of the friction disc, and pressure plate. I went with the NZAD kit, which ended up being well heavy on the pedal, and not so easy as a stop start daily driver. I know of another guy with an NZAD flywheel who changed to an M3 replacement clutch and said it was mint. No problems with the weight of the flywheel, 6.7kg they reckon.

That muffler issue and color seems familiar, has it been on here already recently?

The market isn't the only opening I see for them either...

I'm at a similar crossroads myself, trying to figure out if some simple oval absorption mufflers will be good enough...

Chill homie, just some suggestions. Would make sense to start with the exhaust, as the rest will need to fit around that...

What, no diffuser? It looks half assed, in the most literal sense, if the bumper is left as exposed chassis, or just a bodged plate. Especially considering that mad $1700 wing (which could use some better fasteners imo, what are they atm ZP plebbery?) Also, can we get some better photos? Side profile etc, I'm still on the fence if it is mint, or spastic; could be both though.

Hitachi 125mm grinders can be had for about $100 bucks. If that's too dear, just get a cheap 125mm from wherever, get discs from an engineering shop for a couple of bucks. Bunnings/M10 charge heaps for these. Euromarc are good for online shopping for abrasives and polishing sh*t too.

Yeh, hes good to deal with; also worth ringing hellbm to see what's there too.

I ended up getting a 1200 buck lightweight flywheel and clutch for mine, I notice there's a dual mass clutch on tm atm as part of a 6speed kit...
-
I got it as both gearbox and clutch came from a 318, don't think the smaller flywheel ever went into a 6cyl. You'd probably want an upspec'd pressure plate and clutch disc. what sort of money can you spend on sorting the clutch? You could just put it in there to get it rolling and baby it a little, then get a decent one when that flogs out. You'd also want to get confirmation of it being suitable, I'm only pretty sure they are, based on what I heard when doing mine.

So I got an AFRometer for another project, and just wondering how easy it is to chuck in the bimmer to check its mix. If I unplug one of the header sensors and put it in there, will it go into limp mode or just read off the other one?
-
Pretty sure they are compatible, same ring gear size etc. The g220 I swapped into my 328 came with a 4cly flywheel, but it was a bit knackered so I got the larger one.

I'd guess it'd be doable for under a grand. Probably $400 for CNC bent tube, add another $300 for fittings/flanges/welding. Cheaper if group buy, are mids the same for M52B28s etc?

Yeh couldn't hurt to have a read through anyway...

Yeh I've been vaguely keeping an eye out for meets close to local, been busy the last few though.
