Why bother if they are already giving you the run around? Stroker will only give % gains relative to size increase. ie 3.2--> 3.4 = 6.25% so you will get most of that say 15- 19hp. Make sure porting has flow bench results, plenty of opportunity to go backwards when porting.

FYI- closing this out as I hate it when I find threads with the same issue as me and no resolution. Showing 4x4 light only and reading that code means the actuator motor is poked, the best price is about $150USD shipped to NZ for the bosch motor but with a landrover part number, it is exactly the same just 1/4 the price of the BMW one. Transfers resistor over and bolt in new motor and light immediately goes off.

Thanks for talon us about it.

2006 bmw x3 110,000 km Changed the gear in the actuator at 92,000 as the cog was stripped and I had the triad of lights. I am thinking now the actuator motor is poked. Showing code 5F3A - Transfer case malfunction clutch stuck in the open position - Wheel speed sensors gave sensible readings and all the same when tested live - Steering angle sensor readings are correct through the whole range. - Battery is 1 month old so no issue there. - I will check for loose connections but any other thoughts before i spend $500 on a new actuator?

I find Takanini is one of the cheapest places in Auckland, mobil on great south road Takanini had 98 at $2.27 on Tuesday. Good discount on top of that with mobilcard account.

Yeah that looks pretty suspect - the ABS unit is the DSC aswell, probably find there was an issue with DSC light staying on so someone just disconnected the appropriate wires hoping a WOF inspector or buyer wouldn't pick up that it didn't come on at all at startup. Try find a pin out on the net for the e39 plug. Would also check glove box and boot fuses if that doesn't fix it incase someone pulled them, I cant remember where the appropriate fuse is.

E46 318ti - ABS module options ?
andrewm replied to markoneswift's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
buy another module off ebay UK and have it coded to the car - think I paid about $80 delivered for the module and same again to have it coded. -
Likely regulator - where the cable runs through the bracket the glass sits on has probably broken. Take the door card off and the foam cover and all will be revealed.

Those brakes aren't expensive, ECS tuning do the front calipers+ brackets+rotors+pads+fluid+braided lines for US $1600. Compare to a stoptech or brembo kit which start from US $2800. Apparently they aren't good though, I saw a couple of the 135i guys were cracking pistons using them for track use. They generally have a reputation as show brakes and not go brakes.

P1 for me too thanks.

Hey James, took this for a burn for you this afternoon. Was pretty gutless but that's a 318i for you I guess, barely felt like I was moving. Engine was whisper quiet so no bearing issues to worry about or intake leaks. It did have some bad points, the tires were a little under 1.5mm, the interior wasn't in great nick (owner could be a smoker?) Brent probably has a new interior if you want to swap that over. Great custom paint job and it sure is sacked in the weeds, must have had windscreen replaced that was crystal clear. Maybe a tribute to 'rusty'?

Freeze a bunch of 1.5l or 3l bottles of water and chuck them in the boot so you don't have to buy as much ice. Try keeping poultry near the middle then just wrap it up good.

Bloody coupe drivers, wouldn't see a wagon messing up like that

"the driver claimed he slid on water" Nothing do with his showboating failure. -
Probably shouldn't put a jap carp in it, fish tank would be pretty heavy would probably negate the gains you were going for.

The importance of pre-purchase inspections/inspecting thoroughly
andrewm replied to andrewm's topic in General Discussion
Update Passed on the original car, dealer offered 3k off but I still wasn't happy. Went above my initial budget and found an absolutely immaculate 2006 x3 Motorsport with 48,000km on it and looking every bit brand new. It's an import but has new brakes and near new dunlop sp sport maxx tires. I plan on keeping it immaculate. Underbody looks like new hard to believe the car is 9 years old. -
detailing clay should do the trick

Just a little story about a car I had inspected today 2005 bmw x3 from an auckland used car dealership, pictures looked great and no mention of issues in the trademe advert. BMW auckland city came back with a list that included the below. The car only has 88,000km and is priced at $17k so wasnt expecting some of these. The quote for below was around $6k and another $3800 for full headlining replacement. Thoughts? sounds in worse nick than my e39 and e46. EDIT: just to clarify I am capable of doing the repairs myself but included the BMW quote for peoples interest. Alternator not functioning passenger electric mirror does not adjust multiple oil and gearbox fluid leaks driveshaft boot split cracked and worn suspension bushes headlining coming off both rear tires at 1.5mm broken shock absorber boot and bonnet struts very weak worn out engine mounts xxx belt cracked - (cant read which one) and some usual minor stuff several small dents and scratches interior light not working weak aftermarket battery driver mirror cover broken wipers not good
-
You probably already found this but If you google search s85 throttle actuator teardown there are some good threads on it. Theory seemed to be the plastic gears wear causing the electrics to continue to hunt for positioning and eventually burns out the board. People were rotating the black gear round 180 degrees to a less worn section to confirm gear wear as the failure.

Put radial bearings on my fortune auto coilovers on the e39 and changed the springs out for swift springs. Raised the front a bit too. Highly recommend radial bearings for anyone with pillowball top camber plates, seems to have eliminated the low speed coil bind I sometimes got.

After a BMW x3, 2,5 or 3.0 but auto, petrol and black , leather interior can be cream or black. Flexible on km's but needs to be in very good condition. Prefer black with motorsport bumpers. I am aware of the trademe ones just seeing if anyone has anything they were considering selling before I goto dealers and whatnot. 2004-2008 model

Yeah its been up for yonks, it was 30k asking price for the first 4 years or so lol. Pretty sure those are the original photos...
