Fixed up my vapour barrier seal drivers side rear door. Cleary someone went in there to fix something in the door, maybe window actuator, dunno... they left a neatly dried up section of butyl though, which leaked something fierce into the sills, though luckily not into the car just yet. That job was a pain videos make it seem simple and easy and the putting in is easy, but cleaning old butyl cord sucks. Took an hour just to clean butyl off one door. Cleaned up front passenger seatbelt which was moldy as anything.

E39 Source did a video on one. Dude got a 2002 e39 M5 for $7500.

A lot of people just freak out when they hear "Honey, I'm pregnant..." For three across, we'd get Diono Radian child seats. We have two and they're excellent. If you only need two across though, I'd really get Britax ClickTight (we have two of these also...) seats. It's trivial to get a proper install on any car with those, no ALR, nor stupid clips required.

Not that a regular e39 M5 is in my price range... but that sounds like it really is out of my price range!

I do t know about "modern," some of the top pick for off-roading seems to be late 90s 4runners and land cruisers. 3rd gen 4runners ('96-'02) are amazing trucks that can be quite reasonable on, and amazing off road.

Replaced fuel filter on the 530i. Holy crap, that took a lot longer than I thought it would. That bracket is a pain! It might have been easier with the car on stands, or a lift, but on ramps it was an unpleasant job. Long overdue, as it turns out... The filter that was on there is the original from 2001! I came out having inhaled quite a lot of fumes and feel quite dizzy now, despite doing it outside in the open air. Warning for anyone else doing this... Pics of new and old filter. Notice the weight difference and that date stamp...

$100 all in would be a reasonable price. For that price, I might even forego doing it myself. EDIT: It's been awhile since I did mine and I had some details wrong. The pixel fix itself is just 15 Euros from http://www.pixelfix.net/eng/bmw.html I got the one with the lcd also, so it was 25 Euros. Their video is simple to follow (and you can watch before you order...) the box came with everything I needed to effect the fix myself.

The diy is not hard on this at all. If you're at all electronically inclined, I'd say try that.

All and and dusted till the next time! I have bushings and link arms to go next week. Wheels and tyres happen about the same time, then an alignment. I have a valve cover to replace and a vanos to rebuild, a fuel filter to replace and a transmission gasket to replace. ?

I don't mind the mechanicals at all. The deal breaker is that my wife says the colour reminds her of Kiruna, in Sweden which is the dreariest, most depressing place we've ever been. I can't buy this.

Check their shipping quotes. You might pay more up front, but you'll never have to pay again. If you might have to replace pads even just once, the price difference is moot.
