  1. Anyone replaced their starter motor? Looking for a good guide on it. Car wouldn't start today and pretty sure it's the starter. Wouldn't turn over at all and completely dead even though there's power 😑 Will give it a scan tomorrow to confirm.
  2. Can do. When I was looking for my replacements I discovered there are some dirt cheap pads on rockauto(probably terrible quality) if you need a temporary fix.
  3. How urgently do you need them? I'll have some when I do my brakes but that will likely be a month or so away. You could get a set off rockauto for like $30 new.
  4. Cheers for the offer man. Might have to take you up on it if all falls through 😅. Yeah it's me and the bro in law having the time, and then lining it up with the lift space and engine brace being free and available. More of a priority and willingness now so it should happen.
  5. Car finally got a wof yesterday, tints had to be removed on all windows which was a pain. There's factory tint on the rear glass and windows so it's pretty similar tint in the rear as before now but the front is much lighter. I'll drive around for a while and see what it's like and if I want to retint it to 35% at the front. Wof place noted the sump oil leak was pretty bad, so that's the next priority. Still haven't got it done as been difficult to find the time and lift space/free engine brace to do it. Have had all the parts for some time now. The Wof also noticed some weeping from the power steering hose pipe so will have a look at that when we do the sump gasket/engine mounts. All brake rotors /pads and sensors turned up so have a lot of parts to put on the car. This will finally have all the mechanical bits sorted that have been outstanding on the car since I bought it. Next things will be sorting various minor cosmetic stuff on the car.
  6. I've got a prelci but yeah there's a nice hollow under the vtronic motor for oil to sit in.
  7. Nice from ECS, great service indeed! Replaced my valvetronic motor, or rather @KwS did and new gasket a year? ago but haven't checked on the gasket itself. Only trouble was that I'd ordered the wrong gasket so ended up with two of them. I probably need to have a look and check on it now that it's run in.
  8. Ah, was wondering if it might have been the one Barry pulled out of a garage in Wellington a yearish ago. There was a Dixi article on it and the restoration he was doing. Nice car, hope to see it in the metal at a club meet someday.
  9. Have ordered new rotors/pads/brake sensors for the car. The pile of parts in the garage is increasing 🤣 Car failed its wof on dumb sh*t the other week. Both (newish)rear tyres had roofing nails in them, one fog light was too high and rear indicator bulbs were no longer orange. Have fixed these and had a tyre place patch the punctures. Other thing it failed on was tints being too dark, which is annoying af since it passed at the same wof place last year and they had no comments or issue. Will be going to a tint place to check if they're too dark and get them removed if that are not legal 😑
  10. Nice, I want one of those. Saw the car club pics of it yesterday. Was that the garage find one?
  11. Possibly, will see when they come off. I've had zero complaints about any of the 130is that I've owned and their braking performance. It's really good.
  12. The wheel insert(see below) is the bit of plastic surround below the airbag on the sterring wheel, it looks ok in those photos. What are the floor mats like, can't really tell in the facebook photos. I would be keen on a clean driver side mat.
  13. I wanted TRW Ultra Ceramics from FCPEuro but had trouble finding front brake pads with the brake pad parts codes on RealOEM. I read online that E46 M3 pads were the same so I could order those but I wasn't sure if they'd fit. I looked on Rockauto which had pads that fitted, I ordered some Centric Posi-quiet Ceramic pads which seem to be good quality street pads. They were pretty cheap so if they turn up and aren't satisfactory I'll get the TRWs at some point in the future. I have absolutely no idea what rotors/pads are on the car atm, but the braking performance is great! Bit dusty though. There has been a bit of judder under heavy braking since I purchased the car a couple of years ago but there's plenty of life in the rotors and pads so it hasn't been something I've needed or wanted to replace with urgency. I figured if the calipers are fine, I'll just grab some OE spec or better discs and pads(trying out ceramic for the dust) to fix the judder. If we take the calipers off and they're bad then I'll rebuild them. Wasn't meant to be ordering more parts right now but couldn't pass up the rotor deal and then you have to order pads, brake sensors, screws etc lol
  14. Repco has TRW Brake rotors for a stock 130i very cheap in their clearance sale. I would consider them OEM "plus" quality compared to other stock rotors you can find online. This is what I ended up ordering after comparing to others on rockauto and fcpeuro a week or so ago. They're painted on the venting edge and front bolting part so quite nice quality. Now they're another 30% off so can get all 4 rotors for $120 which is a pretty sweet deal. Haven't put them on the car yet so hope they fit haha The fun will be finding a store who has them in stock, Marshlands in Chch has the front rotors https://www.repco.co.nz/en/parts-service/braking/brake-rotors/trw-brake-rotor-330mm-x-22-4-min-df4460s/p/A1166629 https://www.repco.co.nz/en/parts-service/braking/brake-rotors/trw-brake-rotor-300mm-x-18-4-min-df4802s/p/A1253641
  15. Plastic steering wheel insert in good nick Brent? How much?
  16. Definitely priced it to sell, considering the kms and condition. Gives a good market price point for mine considering how similar they are 😂
  17. I actually have a spare set of calipers from @Jacko I'd forgotten about, which is why I'm now going to do the stock brakes. I've ordered discs now so it's happening 😅
  18. So I'm leaning towards sticking with oem brakes, rebuilding the calipers if needed, and new discs with upgraded pads. Can get everything new including sensors etc and it's a third of the price. It seems like good front brake pads for the 130i are hard to find, found some nice rears but no joy in the front unless I go with Centric? ceramic pads. They any good? Are E46 M3 pads the same size as stock?
  19. Looking for some 130i brake advice, I know a couple of members have upgraded to bigger brakes, @Jacko and @M3AN come to mind. I'm thinking either a bolt on brake upgrade, that I don't need to code in if possible, which I would get calipers and or rotors used(or buy new rotors) from a 335d? Or 335i? Or M135i? Or get caliper rebuild kit/s and get new stock rotors. I'm looking for the rotor sizes for stock and for the upgrade versions, and any other parts, or tips, I will potentially need (brake lines/brake sensors?) to do a full brake refresh.
  20. Bastards, did they do any damage inside?
  21. Fitted another interior piece over the weekend courtesy of @Matt Looks and feels awesome, goes well with the bmw performance alcantara bits on the handbrake and shifter. Doesn't match my fauxcantara mirror though 🤣 Have barely driven the car this year, so only noticed that the headlining sagging has gotten much worse since last time I checked it so I've booked it in to be replaced. Not cheap :S Swapped the BMW Performance shifter knob back to the stock and its a million times better. The BMWP knob looks great but its way too small for my hand. Still have an intake boot to fit on the car, and the oil pan gasket/engine mounts might finally get done soon. Though I've said that a couple of times. Here's hoping anyway 🤞
  22. Just booked mine in to get the headlining replaced, won't get in for a month down here in Wellington. That's a good price.
  23. I've seen this at the bmw car club meets and it's so nice, sounds fantastic too.
  24. Yeah I was first owner in NZ, there's a thread on here about it
