  1. Car has been going great guns through the miserable winter months but with the nice change in weather got out on a few rural backroads with @Cement and @elias on Saturday - Dave and I having to navigate a pretty decent swathe of semi' precarious gravel roads, so here is a rare dirty picture of the old girl!

Next project is a cluster refurb and tart up and then a refurbished steering rack before the next WOF.

From there will just be dirivng the wheels off it and saving up for some rust repair and full respray next winter.

  2. Wheels look great and the crisp white really adds to the oddball late 90s /early 00s vibe.

Usually those Msport E46 Alcantara interior don't age well but looks super clean!

Enjoyed my auto 3.38 diff ZF manual E46 - yes, first was short but gave every other gear way more oomph than the 2.93.

I have some pics of the car in question, and it is for sale. This was entirely an attempt to ensure that if it were to be described as a M325i in any advertising, that the car would in fact be a M325i.

It has a black headlining. :)

I'm not the seller of the car, but have been sent some pics. I'm waiting for contact details for the seller before listing it - depending on what the seller wants to do, contact may be via me, or may be direct to the current owner. However, until that is sorted, I'll sit tight.

It's not a fabulous, minty-fresh, unmolested example as some changes have been made over the years, but pricing will reflect that.

Whats the colour, out of interest?

That’s my e30, price was hard to indicate. But I think I will stick to 57 and see what happens. info on the car, I will update the listing at some point. Suggestions would be lovely

and I do not disagree about the wheels

You gotta try - it’s probably the only Granitsilber Tech2 in NZ, has low kms and looks very tidy.

More info to help would really just be major maintenance completed recently etc, especially if it sat a few years.

UK Sport has the close(r) ratio 260/5 gearbox with shorter ratios between 1st and 3rd gears:

    G260 - 3.83 / 2.04 / 1.34

    G260/5 - 3.72 / 2.02 / 1.32

The UK Sport wasn't available as an auto.

@Palazzo I assume @Sammo meant NZ new mt2 coupes WITHOUT the black headliner. Team McMillan had a red one for sale back in 2001 for $16,995 but they wouldn't take my 60K mile Jaguar Sovereign on trade 😂 can't remember the rego though... I have a sneaking suspicion it was the zinnobar one recently for sale.

This is some preposterous knowledge dropping!

Don’t they all have black headliners if they are m325is? Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Correct - I mean if it’s one that’s been retrofitted with one, the Bimmersport hive mind (or @Neil McCauley) may already be aware of it.

What is everyone's opinion on the differences between a  UK 325i Sport and a NZ new M325i?

I am from the UK and assumed the Sport was essentially the same as a NZ M325i - just a name difference? and as stated the best way to tell is a black headliner.

Same car essentially - same as Australian 325is.

But not NZ new obviously - and I think UK sports and 325is came in autos which was not the case for the M325i.

28 days for the alleged 147.

More than 40 over is loss of license, more than 50 is loss of license + a court date.

Just particularly annoying no discretion is involved - but then again the law is the law I suppose.

Damn - that sucks - at least its only 28 days - althugh I'm guessing a sizable donation is required as well?

Less temptation in a slow E30!

  9. Been a little while since I updated.

Replaced injectors and my coolant temp sensor (one that tells the ECU roughly how cold it is) which seems to have really improved the cars temperament when cold (would always idle fine but would often be a little hesitant under load like in old cold carbureted car).

Also replaced my blower motor resistor but think I’ll need to replace blower motor too as it was stiff as - lubed it up but imagine it will seize itself again before too long.

Running extremely well for the BMW club run this Sunday - let’s hope it does not need a tow this time around!

a really long time member, i havent been on bimmersport for about 14 years but my account still works. So I have an e30 which i parked in a garage about 14 years ago, nothing special coupe manual 320i. Thinking about doing a restoration on it. new paint etc. Assuming sum of parts is more then it is worth, but so i dont go crazy on it, what would a restored to a mid level e30 320i coupe manual sell for?

    $15k

Can't see it being remotely profitable unless you're a panel beater TBH.

I purchased this car in the end. Needs an exterior respray, anywhere where it has seen sun the red paint is stuffed. The engine had a bad misfire which the owner said was a fueling issue, thankfully it was just a coil. Has a few other cosmetic issues, but all fixable. Drivers seat has a tear in a bolster, and the dash has cracks for Africa. Good bones though and drives nicely. Definitely keeping me entertained in the garage! Currently stripped for painting.

Great to hear another one getting some love!
