  1. Selling front and rear leather seats out of my 2008 135i. Front seats are black leather heated, electronic sports seats (have the adjustable bolsters). Drivers side has memory. Good condition overall. Rear is the bench and seat backs, in excellent condition barely ever used. Have the rear seatbelts available too. $550 ONO. Taking up space, no longer needed any offers considered.
  2. I went through the same thing with my 135i, ive settled on using the rear seat belt receiver and threading the seatbelt through the seat hole. According to my cert guy it is acceptable to extend the receiver using a steel flat bar as long as appropriate size/material/thickness and hardware is used. Might be easier than finding one with longer webbing.
  3. Im on the shore as well, could come up Orewa ways

Some finishing touches (for now), apex stud conversion and hub centric spacers, as well as boot trims back in now.

Cage and interior almost entirely done now!
  6. This is awesome to see, a much more extreme version of my 135i build, also had Ray do a halfcgae for me, very impressed with his work! Might have to steal your idea of blanking off the holes in the centre console trim piece.

not a bad idea, however due to the geometry of the cage and car, you wouldn't be able to get it into the car after its assembled, has to be welded together in the car. In other cars, with other cages it may be possible. There is a company in AUS who do bolt in powdercated cages, but that isn't MSNZ approved.

Might not look like much has changed, but the half cage is painted, was a bitch of a job I wouldn't ever reccoemnd anyone does haha not fun at all. Began putting the interior back in which is easier said than done, putting things to make it fit and try making it look tidy is quite tricky. Rear door cards had to be split in half, vertically tried to hide the split behind the main hoop of the cage but may still cover it with some form of thick black tape, but doesn't look too bad overall. Put the drivers seat in to move it and pretty happy with how it all looks and especially how the seating position feels.
  9. saw this one on marketplace and seemed like a good deal, especially a good candidate for a track build, strip the interior, get a cage welded in, an FIA seat, some decent suspension, bushes, Swaybars and an LSD and it could be good fun even as an auto.

Hahah there has been some scope creep for sure, got a bit carried away recently, but one thing led to another and ive somehow ended up here, no regrets though, should be a fun car! Been following your Nissan E46 build too man, some very impressive stuff in there, great work!

Got the car back, halfcage is all done and looks fantastic, very happy with it. Wasted no time and got straight into installing the doubler plates for the transmission tunnel to mount the seatbelts, to LVV cert standards. Took a while to do, had to remove half the exhaust and then try locate the hole which is tricky to do without any reference points. Got there eventually, used 5mm bolts with spring washers instead of Monel rivets as it was much easier to do and still up to LVV spec. Plates have metal to metal contact, sound deadening was removed and the area was etch primed and painted to prevent rust. Used holes on the diagonal in the direction of seatbelt pull, as described in the LVV handbook. now onto masking the interior and painting the halfcage... slowly getting there
  12. wrong one sorry, different numbers

Got some photos from Ray (Chubb racing Ltd) who's doing my rollbar/halfcage, its looking great so far, really friendly/helpful guy would definitely recommend him to anyone looking into getting any sort of cage done, all to MSNZ spec.

First mock up of the new seats, only done drivers side very roughly before it started raining again, really need to get a garage...
  15. I have a CCC unit form a 2008 135i, I will check for the part number
  16. have removed the factory CCC iDrive unit, and want to run an aux straight to the factory speakers, either through an aftermarket amp or the stock amp, don't want any headhunt in the car, just the aux. Have searched all over the internet and been to audio shops but nobody seems to have an information on this.
  17. Can anyone recommend someone that knows their stuff about BMW audio in Auckland, need some rather unique/unusual work done on my car. Cheers

Now that im pretty happy with the exterior and handling, aside from needing some bigger swaybars, Ive made a start on the interior. The overall goal for this car is to build what is my interpretation of the 135i cs that bmw never built, so I started tearing apart the interior today for some major changes coming very soon.
  19. From what I understand harnesses are only street legal with a full cage, complete airbag removal and motorsport authority card but I may have misinterpreted the rules. Will be getting a harness bar as a part of the half cage to keep the option for track use etc.
  20. sweet thanks a lot for the info, much appreciated. From talking to a certifier ive come to the conclusion that the most straightforward method is to use nzkw bases and mount the receptacle to the transmission tunnel to NZTA/LVVC standards. I won't be using sliders as I don't need rear seat access and im the only driver of the car so that keeps things simple too. I will be using Sparco Rev art seats, and will get matching FIA spec side brackets to make sure all the parts are of a reasonable quality to ensure safety. Then should just be a matter of coding the airbags. The other end of the seat belt shouldnt be a problem? Cheers,
  21. Sorry should have added, the car will not have any rear seats, its getting a half cage fitted before cert, seats won't be on sliders. Main concern is what bases can I use that will pass NZ cert. My bad should've worded my question more clearly, appreciate the response none the less. cheers
  22. Sold sorry, my bad forgot to update the post
  23. Anyone here successfully managed to get aftermarket fixed back seats carted in an e90/e82 chassis? My main question is around what is required to pass cert in relation to seat base and seat belt buckle anchorage, since it is originally mounted to the seat. Any help is much appreciated, cheers

Some more photos of the car as it sits now, very happy with the exterior except for maybe a front lip or different front bumper in the future... on to the interior next.
