  1. Learned something new tonight. Apparently to fix coolant blowing out of the exhaust you should “Pour some oil in the cylinders and let it soak overnight”. Very professional of them to censor the business.
  2. I wonder how this idea snowballed into this. Not even mad
  3. @gjm different standards, time, finances, priorities, etc…
  4. Agree with @Contrails and @Gaz. It’s only been a few months since I took a leap on mine and I’m pretty sure I would sell it a bit more even if I listed it with $1 reserve on TM. Also the same reason why I may not sell it ever, as it would be very hard to buy one again!
  5. @Sammo if you’re serious get a quote from SJ. He did it for the previous owner of the car that I now own + cert as well. It does start adding up quickly if you want it done properly, but the tax on a 325i coupe is quite high as well.
  6. The double vanos on the tub28 I’ve heard is not as nice to work on. M54b30 would be great although I’m pretty sure it’s near impossible to have AC if you want that (-already quite difficult as it is with a m52). M50b25 would be a good base if you’re wanting to turbo it. This guide below gives a good overview of what the swap will entail. Although if you’re planning to cert it, you’ll need to do more (depending on what your certifier says e.g driveshaft hoops, wrapping the exhaust, etc…) https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.php?title=Engine_Swap_-_M5x
  7. Care to expand? Don’t know much about these models. @Sammo Unlikely that it’ll actually happen but you’ll be the first to know if I do mate 😄
  8. You’re right, after reading the listing in more detail and actually looking at the photos, I agree that it’s a bit rough. I’d get a closer eye to see how much of the stone chips will buff out, and the interior needs a refresh but it’s manual, NZ new, full service history, 3 owners, and mechanically seems to have been looked after well. I’d rather deal with a bit of minor panel work, respray, and refreshing the interior than trying to undo years worth of lack of maintenance on mechanical components and also not knowing the history. Of course that’s assuming the other car has no service history and haven’t had [preventative] maintenance done to it. I was also more comparing the 16k vs 15k rather than the buy now price. To be honest though, another thing that sways me is someone who’s willing to list the ‘bad’ in that detail, I would trust more. But I could also be dead wrong and the other listing may have had all the mechanical work done as well and not have listed any ‘cons’ because there was none other than the stone chips. Who knows eh? 🤷🏽‍♂️
  9. At Browns Bay yesterday arvo. Looked like it has some wear and tear in the interior but fairly decent!
  10. This is tempting me to sell my e30!
  11. @gjm I’d rather bid the first dollar on yours mate 😉. Because he has sold a few cars already doesn’t he need to be licensed as a dealer?
  12. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3317485342.htm I feel like I’d rather snap this one up if I’m paying that price
  13. This. I had a similar story trying to buy an e30. Negotiated with the seller, wouldn’t budge and mentioned that if I was wanting to “secure it then <insert price>“ is what he’s looking for. Ended up biting the bullet and agreed. Asked him to send the list he said he was compiling of what was done to the car and also when I could pick it up. He then replied that he’ll suss it and “go forward from there”. After a bit of back and forth I got told to “take it easy” and we’ll “sort things out over the next few days.” Two days later I get a message saying that the “previous owner wanted to buy it”. I told him it’s up to you what you do. Then the next day he mentions he has another guy ready to buy and then a few hours later told me that it’s been sold. Told him that I had a feeling it was going to happen (could tell straight away from how he replied when I agreed to his price) and mentioned that we had a deal but I guess money talks, to which he then says that he’s “super sorry” and that it was “tough to let it go” and that the new owner has “promised him” that when he comes back to NZ (he’s overseas) “he will sell it back no questions asked” Probably played everyone to try push the price higher and higher. To be honest in these instances, even though he wasted my time (thankfully nothing more), I really am more thankful that I dodged a bullet. If that’s the character of the guy selling, I don’t want to buy anything from him.
  14. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3301028401.htm Looks tidy enough. I wonder if it’s the same 4-door that was restored by a mechanic. I wonder if it’ll sell.
  15. Yeah, have messaged him but no reply. It’s probably in his others folder that may as well be the abyss. Could you do me a solid and ask him if he could try find my message so I can directly contact him? Cheers!
  16. All I can say it that if finances somehow allow. A 540i touring is next on the list for sure. Got to fix up the e30 first though 😆.
  17. Yeah nah, after adjustable seats. It’s more for the lumbar support. Not a big concern at the moment, prices are going up by the minute for everything so wanting to buy now rather than later.
  18. What sparco seats do you use? I might have to circle Auckland a few times if this lockdown doesn’t allow for wider travel 😂
  19. Currently certed for bucket seats (I think NZKW) anchored to trans tunnel and all. I’ve yet to go on a long drive (more than an hour) but feel like they might be too stiff so have been thinking about switching to recaros - to keep the race seat feel and support but also be comfortable. Found some mk3 gti recaros (front and rears) for sale and wanting to find out if they’re at all do-able. Or if anyone has suggestions for a better alternative (eg. more comfortable bucket seats), I’m all ears. For context, I’m average height so fitment shouldn’t be an issue.
  20. @bga Bit of a thread resurrection but any chance you could flick a message to this guy for me? I’ve messaged him already but he may not see it depending on his fb settings. I’d be interested if he has any lying around. Cheers! I’d be keen if anyone else have some lying around, recaros / sports seat.
  21. @gjm If a sunroof sedan is in the mix surely a Baur can contend! If you’re going to let the sun in why not go all out without compromising rigidity?!
  22. Definitely a reasonable deal considering prices nowadays. Surely just the manual conversion will be 2.5-3k? Engine will be under 1k. NZ new, msport kit (hopefully), and it’s a wagon!
  23. As per above, looking for any of the following ratios below: - 3.15, 3.23, 3.46 Please PM with condition and price. Cheers!
