  1. Ha thanks Kelvin @KwS, you’re not wrong, I am alas #%*dy useless 😕
  2. Oh that’s a real shame! But thank you @Olaf for a suggestion and recommendation
  3. Hello all, my E30 is new to me and am after recommendations of a good place(s) to get service work and some other mechanical things - bushings etc - done. I have heard of Auto38 in Newtown, and that is an option. I live in Silverstream so wondering if there’s anyone people would recommend in the Hutt Valley area or elsewhere if I am going to have to travel anyway? Please, and thank you 🙏
  4. Golf… the 1 series is pigdog ugly, like a capybara
  5. I agree with you @jon dee. Our approach is cynical and negative and doesn’t slow all traffic down; whereas the “overt” approach slows most drivers down the whole time achieving greater safety surely? Ngauranga Gorge is an interesting example: although I don’t think it is signposted, most people know it is there. So most people reduce/stay at 80km/h regardless of whether the camera is in the box or not (or is it always in the box?), achieving the desired outcome of safe speeds down the incline. European countries use a mix of approaches, and I would like NZ to look at other alternatives. The same with endless focusing on speed but not on other campaigns as well eg “Learn how to merge”, “Stay left on multilane roads” and “Let people in, you dick”. How is it that our neighbours across the ditch can do all of these things and we can’t? Road designs here notwithstanding
  6. $60k plus man, it looks amazing. Very tidy red one with 160kms sold for $62k four months ago, tidy-ish one sold the other week for $43k with 200kms, and in between a tidy one with about same mileage sold for about that too. An honest MTech1 with 277kms sold for about $30k as well recently.
  7. It is a slow lockdown Friday, going to need photos of the E30…
  8. Ah I think I recall that somewhere along the line in another feed. Malachite Green ♥️
  9. Seems just about EVERY E60 M5 owner in NZ is now a member, you’ve come to the right place
  10. Welcome! Love to see photos of the fleet esp the E30
  11. It has tidy elements; unsure why people don’t bin that hideous Japan market number plate trim immediately they buy these cars 🤷
  12. Hat off to you man 🙌 , I am at the “can change a spark plug, tyre and take dash to bits to replace blown bulbs” end of the DIY scale
  13. Sreten makes it all look so easy right? And he is usually fairly calm. When he was doing rod bearings on an M5 it made me very anxious but he nailed it! Seems a great guy
  14. Jesus, expensive? And ugly. Poor thing lol but people will still buy it
  15. I think you’re right @Sammo : If your daily needs are taken care of already by something okay, expressing yourself and interests in a second, older or fun car makes sense. I have a mint 16 year old GTI NZ new that has now done 107kms; to get into a new GTI is $60k and it will be a much better car but unsure I’d get $50k more enjoyment out of it (would really like adaptive cruise control 🤔). So with electric cars on the horizon am hanging onto the Golf for now as it is a great drive and practical. So instead of a newer car I bought an E30 for the other side of the garage. Still mulling that over tbh but it sounds feels and smells amazing and I have had four of them in the past but never a 325i. So a mix of all of your factors really come to play.
  16. They’re a specific run out model called “318iS Motorsport” at the time, has sports chassis etc and M44 engine, lots of leather and goodies of the time. Came in wild colours if you liked including this Dakar Yellow and awesome Fiji Green, as well as a dark blue and I think black/charcoal. They were quite fancy at the time , made with love in RSA 🇿🇦 . There are a few forum threads on these, some going back over a decade. They’re a fondly looked at little 4 door.
