  1. Beautiful M5. Daytona violet is in the dream category for me. Up there with the E30 M3 and Alpina E30 B6 3.5.

Love these. Mine just broke 200k a couple weeks ago. FYI you have the wheels listed as style 31 (should be 32).
  3. Careful. Someone may ask this thread to be removed due to messing with AI 😅
  4. Based on some of the bid comments I think the seller is known for these types of builds and has sold a few project cars on BAT by the sounds of it. My guess is it was intentional. But with what S54's go for he would have got a decent amount of coin for it.

    Quick rant thread.

I don't know about that. I've had good experience with Toyotas in general. Been reliable family cars.
  6. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-bmw-m3-coupe-46/ 2024 BAT listing. Probably my favourite spec. Steel grey metallic, shadow line trim, cinnamon nappa leather and 19" style 163 wheels. But this one has an LS7 and it sold last year for 87k USD (not far off 150k NZD). But S54 out for an LS7? Way more horsepower, but still. I'd rather the S54. Can understand maybe if it is for the track.
  7. Would love to see this when you do.
  8. Yea same for Japanese cars as well. Cost of many of the 90's cars are crazy now days. Once upon a time...
  9. Looking for recommendations on good car covers. Specifically for an E30. Need to park it outside for a week while garage reno takes place. I already have one from Repco. Pretty average.
  10. @Deano1968 @gjm Y'all weren't kidding. Hands down best experience I've ever had with a workshop from Greg Hantz Autos. They will be my go to for my bimmers now.
  11. Works for me. It's at Mangare.
  12. @BilbeJ I think I spotted this out today. Around 11am going through Sala st roundabout (near BP). Unless someone else around here has one. Always notice the M cars here. There aren't many around these ways (at least I don't see many around). There's a G90 M5 I've seen around a few times recently. Hopefully it is treating you well.
  13. Looks similar. If it is that one then I think the last owner got it from rose city. Maybe rose city picked it back up (if it is the same one).
  14. Welcome. What colour is that? Steel grey? Looks nice.
  15. Thank you. I'm a complete noob when it comes to vehicle ECU's. I've been trying to track down info around the motronic 1.x versions. Still got a bit of searching/reading to do but thanks for the heads up on the processor used. I don't have a read of the program ROM yet. Still trying to figure out how I connect to it so I can get it off. I use Linux for everything except gaming. I'm hoping support for tooling on Linux is reasonable. Keep seeing windows come up in convos around diagnostics...
  16. @Karter16 If you could share tooling and setup you have for this reverse engineering work that would be appreciated. If I recall correctly you use Ghidra for reverse engineering the code. But what other tools are you using in the process?
  17. Who knows. I'll probably get the itch to put it in the car after playing around with it which might motivate me to give an upgrade a go.
  18. Nice. Good to know. Switching out loom is probably beyond my comfort level right now. But I'll def keep that in mind.
  19. I think I have motronic 1.0 with 35 pin connector. That board on the speeduino forum only supports motronic 1.1-1.3 55 pin. Either way I'm still keen to learn more about speeduino and have a play with that motronic PCB regardless (just won't be able to test in my E30 as is). Will still be a good intro into speeduino by playing around with it wired up on the bench.
  20. This is perfect. Never heard of Speeduino either. Looks cool.
  21. Haha Memories. It's an NZ company (I think) that does paint protection. Technically their name is Dura-Seal. I think we have it on our Toyota. Wonder if the owner of Dura-Seal was recalling childhood memories when they came up with the name...
  22. Lots of good info. That sounds like I should actually get a cheap ECU and use that directly. Definitely don't want to mess with the motor for an experiment. Guessing there are ECU simulators as sell (that map-ecu project looks interesting).
  23. This comment at the end of OP post: "PSA: don't try this if your an idiot" Whatever genius. No one is just gonna stumble into wiring up a raspberry pi into a car from the 80's. Plus he didn't share any actual useful info.
  24. That makes sense. The part where OP says "lie to the ECU" though seems to suggest some kind of manipulation of input to the ECU. But there's a high chance I'm just misunderstanding the claim in the context of ECUs and how they work. And the OP claim about being "close to fully reverse engineering the data stream from the ecu" is the other part that is confusing me a bit as well. Lying to the ECU and reverse engineering the ECU data stream suggests to me more is being done here than intercepting sensor data? I have a mental model built up in my head around how these parts are connecting up and I'm probably way off. I'm probably making assumptions that don't apply in the ECU realm. I'll look up Hybrid's work. I'm sure I'll learn a bunch from those posts. I need to also familiarise myself with other fundamental things like CAN bus etc. It's all new to me and I could be tripping up over terminology as well. Thanks for the info around piggybacks. I'll look into those.
