That's a really random video. Looks like the Top Gear editors got their hands on it.

Haha, looks like a bit of fun. Post a clip of how the exhaust sounds if you can. Please.....

Welcome Steve. I must say, that year of E65 has a nice grille compared to the current 7 Series. Does it have an aftermarket kit? -
No interior pictures?
-
Very nice! I might do this one day too.

Not to be a buzz killer, but I'm thinking the same thing.

Prices of new parts on an older car are just as expensive as a newer car, except unlike a newer car many components are well due for replacement, so yes, you can buy the car for a fraction of a near new car price, but in theory you would have to spend probably the same amount if not more than the cars value to fix it up to a good standard, of course most people don't do this because it's cheaper and easier to just drive the car into the ground and buy another. The advantage with the newer models is you wouldn't have to do much work for years (unless random parts fail because of the questionable quality) Advantage with older cars is they have already depreciated to the bottom of the market.

That sucks big time. You had a valve steam break right?
-
Well, I like the first picture.

Oh interesting, mines done this so I can only assume the same thing is occurring. I better investigate before I replace the resistor pack, they aren't cheap!
-
Mobile phone pictures for the advert too. Sigh. I could only assume they use cooking oil for the engine lubrication with that level of logic.

While doing some gearbox tuning and reviewing the telemetry on my laptop afterward, it looks like the 1UZ E36 is good for 100kph in the vicinity of 5.5-6.0 seconds from a standing start. I believe that's just about right for the power to weight ratio. .

I used the Penrite Euro stuff in my 540i E34 with no ill effects.

This is unreal, I can't even grasp how poor some peoples business practice is. I trust the court will favor you under the circumstances! No doubt a reminder why I do all the work on my car & make sure it's done once & done right.

Nice, quick fixes to those black plastic body trims always make a difference, but do note it wont last, a couple of weeks in the sun/rain it will start loosing the looking and start fading again. IMO, you need to paint them all with stain black spray paint or similar to get a long lasting look.

Yeah I wouldn't personally deal with that sort of crowd tbh. I remember they used to be in Ellerslie with broken BMWs in the forecourt to their shop, not the best of looks. I think Ray or Brent has pretty much all the parts anyone would need. If not Ebay / Pelican Parts.

Welcome Peter. A mint E30 is always nice, keen to see the pictures too!
-
Oh clever, you did the last one?
-
Cool Dan, getting there. What do you mounts look like?
-
Doing some roadworks?

Cheers Matt. Well, I had them running on the car for 500kms or so, after removing, found about 9 tiny holes between the pair, where the welds were not 100% (could see the carbon deposits forming from the leaks) so had those tacked up along with any other suspect pits in and around the welded joins. Pretty sure its 100% sealed now. This is a HPC HiPer Coat in Grey, rated for 750 deg.C I'm just happy to know they wont rust for a long time. But it will also be interesting to see what the temperature in the engine bay drops to with these, I did some testing with a IR heat gun prior so I will be able to compare as this coating is supposed to give a decent drop in the engine bays temperature.
