It's no surprise how things are going with the numbers moving into Auckland from abroad on a daily basis. In the last 12 months we've been seeing homes climbing another 50-150k just through the market, what worries me the number of 80%+ loans, many in that 90-95% category - what a situation to get into! Last apartment we sold was in Parnell, just a fairly basic 2 bedroom 130m2 unit, $520k!

Nice Clinton, looks like a good all round purchase!

3 year warranty, nice. Good for piece of mind with something like the DSG gearbox if it ever plays up!

General consensus is that those ebay kits wear out prematurely so it's more expensive in the long run. I looked into it for my 5 Series a while ago, it seems tempting but word on the net says no no. Try get OEM only where applicable ex Germany, I see now some 'OEM' parts are ex China from Generic manufacturers too.

Nice, can't go too wrong with something like that. Are they relatively reliable as far as you know?

Ugh that friggen sucks. How badly damaged?

Yeah under the cowl there are small drain pipes that tend to get blocked up with leaves and muck. If you had the a/c drawing in external air some of the smell could come from there if it's blocked up with rotting leaves etc.. That area can also cause leaking if it gets left dirty long enough.... there is a seal that separates the a/c unit and firewall that can deteriorate allowing water to slowly get in down the back over time, this happened to my E36. Do you have a sunroof? as these can often be the culprit too... or a badly replaced windscreen not sealing properly. I think one of the best ways to identify is to dismantle the car interior and remove the carpet, if thats damp it can be pretty soaked as there's a lot of absorbing foam in behind and it's a clear indicator of where the waters settling at least. ( if that is the case). Get one of those electronic moisture readers and poke around the carpet, see if you can find any damp spots.

Mmm, very easy on the eye.

I have the same ramps as you by the looks. I welded some 500mm steel plates 1/3 way up to smooth the accent and reduce that nasty angle to avoid any scraping of the front bumper.

Awesome, nice to see it stay within the forum. Must be quite a change performance wise, going 2 to 3 liters!

What part of the driveshaft is contacting the body?
-
This is like what the replica A/C Cobra guys do, I know some would get an old Toyota Chassis from the 80s and cut the body off, leaving the Toyota RWD platform with suspension underneath for a replica Cobra shell to sit on.

Say those white leather seats & door cards look like they are in top condition for the age and 210,000ks! A good sign it's been a well looked after car. I had to pull out my white interior from my 540i 1993 I owned a while ago, it was really dirty despite the rest of the car being quite decent. Ended up replacing it with a light grey seats - not as nice mind you.

That's is beyond quirky. Seems pointless. But it also has an odd appeal. So what was the outcome, didn't see a finished product in those pages?

Looks great, nice find.

Could anyone recommend the best way to remove carbon build up inside of an exhaust tube? Brushes are a little impractical for the design so is their a chemical or spray that would break down the carbon on contact or by soaking? I've used products like CRC electra-clean a heavy duty degreaser (Tricholoretheylene / tetrachloroethylene ) that work really well but given they are somewhat costly per can I wondered if anyone had their own recommendation? Cheers in advance.

It would be interesting to see what happens during standard 64kph crash test when a person is seated in this way.

Have to be at least 25k

Seems to come up as a 318is on a vin check too... maybe it's just an early really low spec cheap 'iS' version. Interesting never the less.
-
+1. I was wondering the same thing. Anyone got some more input on this?
-
176 is nothing. $9500 for a 540i that looks in good condition is a damn bargain... but expect to have to fork out for repairs on suspension and check out the cooling systems in the engine bay - it might have one of those cooled alternators too & they can be big bucks if they go wrong.
-
Engine bay needs a good clean by the looks.

Heh yep. You really need a separate audio recorder.
