On my car I have the stock E36 temperature gauge sensor fitted inline with a coolant pipe & wired to the corresponding wires running to the dash cluster. The trouble is as the engine warms the temperature needle doesn't rise with it, even when its at normal operating temperature, it just sits there and remains cold, however when the power is removed from the battery terminal, and put back on, the gauge suddenly starts reading the resistance of the sensor and reads in the middle of the gauge, where one would expect the temperature to be. But then as it cools, the gauge comes down, however if the engines started and heated up again, the needle will not climb... unless I disconnect the power, then it jumps back up to the warmer temperature reading. Any idea why the temp gauge needle would not be rising with constant power until its interrupted and put back on? The sensor is working fine, all tested and the resistances are right, I've even tried another off another E36 and it gives the same result. Upon testing the dash by holding the ODO button and turning the key to 'ign' it performs the gauge test and the temperature needle rises and falls. Any help would be great! Obviously it has something to do with my engine conversion, but I can't understand what...

Nice to see an E39 with the chrome grill not painted black -

I've never seen the appeal of the tagged industrial estates as a background for photos, far too 'ghetto' for my liking. One Tree Hill is particularly nice for photos in the right light conditions. Can't go wrong with nature in the background. -
I love the colour!!

I think these could be one of my favorite BMW's of the 00's Especially from that view, what a shape!

People are idiots... okay well not all, but some.

A pity! I'd love one of those HGT 3 door versions.
-
And to think I used to want one of these as a quirky little run around.

Why do new BMWs have no proper front bumpers anymore? by that I mean the ones of old that would jut-out like on the E46, E36, E30 etc.... Are these new soft & rounded fronts due to pedestrian impact regulations?

Looks awesome. Only thing I'd change is to run a stock chrome rimed grill again. I think the chrome/black contrast helps to make it look more interesting, matching the other stainless/chrome bits. Each to their own of course.

I still can't get my head around the 1 series.. now they are making a pointless 3 door version. Hmm whatever! At least the 3 series touring is looking quite sharp.

What a combination! Is that the floor of the M5's shell hanging below the drivers door?

Sweet Jesus. I actually looked into it during the build, but there just wasn't the space unless the whole radiator placement was modified forward etc, which just wasn't practical. Kinda tempted at the supercharger route, but only with a twin screw, so naturally quite a costly exercise... but heck still plenty of other tasks to do on it as is, namely suspension upgrades.. all the small details! Curious, what spec/diameter tubing did you use straight off the engine exhaust ports?

I like what I see

I'd advise to save your money, get a stock one if it needs replacing and spend the rest on a new stereo head deck or speakers (for example)

Some genuine BBS' 18s maybe some 19s. I'd go with some RCs

Very nice indeed. Although I think the rear exhaust hangs down a bit too much. Got another angle of the back?
-
Good stuff. Should look great in that colour! I look forward to the progress.

What the hell.

Yeah, they are from an RS4, great quality, and yes I've got a E46 vac tank and solenoid setup ready to utilize the actuators. The valve mod worked out to be the same, I usually buy through USA anyway as the exchange is better and service is usually faster! I took a clip of the car with its stock exhaust, a 328i system, it does its best to cut out most of the notes so it produces that lovely rushing sound, haha.
