  1. Hahah ^ Welcome, E38 7 series?
  2. So telling by that the rear parcel tray has been cut for some speakers?
  3. Penetrol and then some of that CRC underbody seal spray. Penetrol is awesome, it bonds to almost anything with a clear/yellow film that gets into everything to seal the surface from rusting etc, you can then paint over it. I've used it for years and years with good results. Available from Mitre 10. It's handy in this situation as it dries clear, it's not like it matters about any over spray, unlike coloured rust primers which make quite a mess.

I love this car. Well done Simon!
  5. Heh, thats what I thought
  6. Welcome Jack, nice to have you aboard
  7. Do you think it would be plausible that BMW would want to get their hands on the car to check it out and see how such a new product of theirs performed under a serious incident in the real world?
  8. I agree. I pondered a nice E39 540i too, but the extra complexity of them made me wonder if it was worth it for what I was after, I mean I could fix it (while moaning about the cost), but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with an engine setup that can develop such issues down the line, which is one of the reasons I decided to go out on a limb and bring my E36 coupe together with the engine out a boringly reliable Toyota/Lexus V8 sedan.. Best of both worlds really!
  9. I felt the same way when I was selling my 540i coming up 3 years ago... didn't want any old kid to end up with it! Fortunately it went to a really nice guy on the forum here, since sold to an older guy.
  10. That was like 7 years ago though. But good point!
  11. What a beaut. I like it!
  12. Holy crap! However it looks like it did well considering the situation... Drive safe! Also, "Following the M5 were an M6 and an M3 being driven by the driver’s sons"
  13. Mmm nice and clean in white. A great daily driver.
  14. I like their looks. But the reliability 10 years on would be my worry.... being that that era of MB had some quality issues.
  15. ^ That is beautiful Simon! ^ Today I upgraded my engine mounts with an improved pair of mounting brackets. The V8 now sits a good 4mm lower than before.
  16. From what I've seen a Japanese import can be in better condition that most NZ new models of the same year / model!
  17. It does look superb with the top down though! Still I could think of better things to do with with 20k!
  18. Good place to start? Wash it, vacuum it, do a oil change and drive it... the end
  19. I like the fact your kidney grill is not covered in black primer. Very nice! Also looking at the car on that angle, it amazes me how attractive looking the E30 4 doors are after all these years, especially when compared to the E36 4 door, part of me always dies when I see one of them.
