Well $400 for my rear springs & shocks, and you say you can get fronts cheap, so you should come out ~$500-550.

I've got the kings & Koni SA for $400. I think you will find the E30 scraping along the road either have cut or compressed springs and/or no spring pads (prolly another 15mm worth).

I wouldn't go with the Jamex SL if it is a track car, The kings are stiffer!!And it is only 10mm difference. If it is a pure track car you could get away with using 5" long 2.5" ID race springs, there-fore use any rate you like. M325i: 360mm to 330mm is a decent drop, much more than that and you start to loose bits of exhaust (tim). At 320mm my chassis rails were 100mm from the ground, the legal limit before you need a Cert, and my exhaust hung lower than that. From my experience with Kings Lows is they do F-all for the height but they are stiffer.

The numbers are there!! 330mm on Kings Super Lows 355mm on Kings Lows Get out to your car with a tape measure & You decide!!! If 355mm isn't low enough then you need the SL's with shorter shocks.

The height on andrew's cert plate in 355mm with Jamex's.Mine is 320mm with the old Jamex's and was 330mm with the kings superlows, Kings lows are 1" (25.4mm) taller than the Super Lows, so 330+25.4=355.4mm the same as andrews. I don't think Super lows will be captive with stock shocks, they are just captive with my Koni SA's!!!

    Hi all ...

Welcome aboard. V.Nice ride. If you ever get bigger wheels, drop me a PM and I'll grab your 18's.

KBRL-14 are 194mm tall (free height)KBRL-14SL are 170mm tall (free height) They are both the same rate so the Lows will sit ~1" higher than the SL's. If you use the measurement I gave you (~330mm) from the centre of the wheel to the arch (pre-FL) you will get an idea of how low SL's are, Lows will be 25mm higher than that (~355mm same height as Andrews 323). So I'd say yes, they will be captive = WOF-able. but not very low

For comparison, I had the Jamex super lows on Koni SA's (now in Carls car) and they were fine. They are low though. The kings super lows were a bit higher, but I'm now running taller tyres too!

If the rear shocks are longer than my Koni's the springs will prolly not be captive.I know the Koni fronts are ~2" shorther that stock & Bilsteins. Just be careful if you use the shocks from another car (as they are inserts in the front) as the valving may not be correct and there may not be adequate bump travel which means you'll be bottoming the shocks out all the time. [sales pitch] As I said before I have the rears for sale!! Kings & Koni SA's both 1 month old. Can provide them in the orig. boxes even!! I can prolly get the matching kings for the front at a good price also. Just drop me a PM if your keen!! [/sales pitch]
  10. What is the width & offset?? Can you also measure from the hub mounting face to the back of spokes (brake clearance). TIA Glenn

    Kings

Yip. I also have a pair of rears & Koni adjustable shocks forsale if you are keen (1 month old). I'll dig out the pic. FYI, the rear arch was 325mm from the centre of the wheel (same for the front). It looks higher than most E30's 'cause of the big tyres (245/40's) being taller.
  12. I presume you mean crank shaft Carl!?!?!
  13. They have the 325i brakes and struts and should have lsd, case size not as important as the fact it's lsd. Point is, they run the better gear instead of the 318 stuff, which, as you pointed out uses drums on the rear - uber gay All E30 brakes are the same size!! (except 316's which have solid fronts).Case size is important as you found out when you got stuck in the middle of the road when your small case shat it's self!! Just have a look on the US forums, guy's with 318iS's eat stock diffs when they give them a hard time. With the exception of possibly a LSD & rear discs (optional) they are the same as any other 318. Just like a m325i is no different to any other 325. %95 of the difference for a m325i & 318iS (except the engine obviously), is purely cosmetic
  14. What part of it?!?!? The gear box is different to a m325i. They have a small case diff (should have a LSD though). And everything else is the same as any other E30 (drum braked & 316's excluded).
  15. I wouldn't use "quite big" to describe E36 brakes!!Sure they are bigger than E30 brakes, but most cars are!! Sorry 1N STYL but I'm going to have to  the red sliding calipers (esp. the stickers), black is the only acceptable colour for sliders I'm afraid.
  16. OT and out of curiousity. Why don't you run a power rack without the pump as they are a quicker ratio than the manual racks?? Girly fore-arms maybe??
  17. It's all out of the car now and ready to go. It is from a '86 320i and will bolt to any M20 engine. The box has 150,000km's on it and is smooth and quiet. The clutch looks like it has been replaced recently also. The only bit that NEEDS replacing is the flexible hose from the fuild reservior to the clutch master cylinder. $500 Drop me a PM if you are keen

Sounds like you are saying your car is 1 wheel drive Carl!! You said it Gus
  19. Hello GT3040 & 400rwhp muwahahahahahaha If you didn't constrain us to "power-ups" I would say a pair of Koni 8211's & 350lb/in springs for the rear would be on the top of my list.
  20. E36 320's are prolly the most un-economical for their engine size. My sisters E36 325i does ~500km/tank around town, easy 600km on the open road.
  21. Wow, thats interesting, for most things Parts Plus is usually %20-30 less than shelleys. My master cylinder was 1/2 the price from parts plus. If it's the fronts you have to replace the whole hub assembly as the hub is the outer race of the bearing.
  22. Carl. Try "PartsPlus" on Tinakori Road, they are usually alot cheaper than BMW.
  23. I just love it how the guy screams like a girl at the end, ROFLMAO!!!
  24. :finger: Mike: I didn't think they'd cut it!! So I went bigger. The 330i calipers aren't very common in wreakers here yet, prolly get a pair out of the US/Europe easy enough. I forgot to mention the 330i 325x25mm rotors are only $125ea from BMW!!
