  1. Someone who wants something a bit different. WhiIe i respect the E36 M3 i have no desire to own one,
  2. Id be surprised here has experience tuning your car\motor. For 3k i wouldn't bother myself, gains on N\A 1.6L BMW aren't going to be very good.
  3. Same could be said for most std cars on the road. I cant recall ever seeing an old man\woman driving a E38, usually driving the newer BMW's if anything. A stock E30 could be considered an old mans\ woman's car, but lower it and chuck some decent rims on it and it aint anymore, works for many cars. Prius's look ok compared to some of the cars i can think of... Pontiac Aztek comes to mind.
  4. Clearly your Mrs has no idea what an ugly car actually looks like. I prefer a the looks of a E38 with a nice body kit and a little lowering to the E39 equivalent.
  5. They have more room in general especially rear leg room so more comfortable long journeys, longer wheelbase helps with this and ride quality. You can carry some pretty long objects in an E38 iL's too. Sure they don't handle as good as 3 and 5 series but they actually are surprising decent, they just a heavier 5 series at the end of the day. I took mine to the track and had certainly more fun in it, probably more than i would have had with a 318i auto or similar
  6. A lot of bits and pieces that may be of interest. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=4820255
  7. At nearly 3x the price it better the best std 540i on Earth Regardless i agree with the comments above, having an ad like that on trademe your asking for speculation.
  8. I dont know whats so special about M5 interior compared to std motorsport, apart from the colour options.
  9. I bet the E60 M5's dont sell in a hurry either, them being priced closed to the E39 tells you everything. For me it just comes down to who wanting which car at the time, most enthusiasts would take the E39.
  10. Guy with no feedback who joined a mth ago puts up a $1 reserve car auction, i would of made sure that he was legit first.
  11. Yeah im not too sure really, you can only go so far with the internet.
  12. Only one screw which is to the right of the connector(missing on yr photos). I didnt have problems getting mine out but different car. Maybe its caught on some wiring or something
  13. Manual conversion is the first and best performance mod.
  14. I have the same Sony in my E34, really nice unit for its time. You'll be to remove the unit and probably the cage bracket(which houses the wiring connector at rear). Should be an external RCA plug somewhere, either floating around or taped to the wiring. Chuck on your RCA>3.5mm adapter, run the lead and then you done.
  15. As i said the car 100% the 3x short times i drove it, you've had it for awhile now and issues like this can develop anytime. Not sure what overheating etc has to do with anything. I replaced mates E36 cam sensor a couple of years ago which was showing the same symptoms as yours, once it was scanned the problem was able to pinpointed.
  16. A BMW 1.4.0 scanner with a 20-pin adapter(if you got OBD1) will do most things you'd require. Should be able to get one off ebay etc quickly
  17. I just use a bit of clear tube with a one way valve. IIRC supercheap auto have bleeder kits
  18. Im surprised you dont have a scanner, get your priorities right lol.
  19. Got mine from Turnermotorsport. Don't really remember it looked like, but as said above you need to know the offset of the rims first.
  20. I ran 15mm H&R hub centric spacers on my old E30 for ages, they weren't that easy to spot either with BBS RS alloys and the brake dust blending them in I never cert'd them and had no problems with WOF from 3 different places in Hamilton
  21. Eagle

    Benz E63 AMG

I thought the whole point was not to run an E39 M5 into the ground thru daily driving. With an E60 M5 being so common etc it doesn't matter.
  22. I'll buy local if its reasonably priced, available or i need asap. For me its usually alot less hassle to shop online, you know all the prices, stock levels etc, and only takes a week to arrive usually. The issue i encounter with local is the older\less common parts that aren't stocked, which you gotta wait 2 weeks for(understandably) eg M30 intake gaskets - couldn't find them anywhere in NZ(luckily Brent had some).
  23. I figure these used to be my old ones? So yeah id agree with above also.
  24. Why i mainly attend private trackdays. Sadly Bimmersport is lacking compared to what it used to be when it comes to events.
