Never really understood M70\M73 conversions, beside the V12 factor the V8 overall is a far better choice.
-
Have you checked the plastic coolant pipes on the back of the head and under the intake manifold? Might pay to at least replace the one on head for piece of mind, shitty BMW plastics in all.

Im pretty impressed with my Hankook S1 Evo 2's. Although they ain't top tier i couldn't find anything better in 245/45R18 for less than $300. BMW uses them on a number of models so can't be too bad.

May be of interest to someone http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1092017872&ed=true

Parents have done over 80,000k's on their E46 M43, no power over 3k but good torque for around town . Beside regular maintenance only things they've replaced were DISA valve and cam sensor. To me the DISA valve is biggest flaw and cost $350 to replace but maybe the E36 M43 is different?.

Includes high spec brakes, limited slip diff and of course the special M5 gearbox with low gear ratios. Sounds like a good deal for less than <4k http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1085641987.htm

Every chain failure ive seen has been on the vanos M62.

Yeah its Steve's ex one, he was selling it the same time as i was selling mine. Very tidy car when he had it, don't like what this owner had done to the rims tho.

Send it to youshop, it shouldn't cost more than 20NZD from US to here.

Check the GM module, relays, fuses under the rear seat

Where to get cylinder head work done tauranga/hamilton/waikato?
Eagle replied to actletpone's topic in General Discussion
Ive used Hamilton Cylinder Head & Engine Services on Lake Road a number of times for skimming. -
Looks like the 7 series equivalent of my old E39 540i, picked it colour and the superior non vanos motor.

Nearly always the case.

Where about in Hamilton are you? I could possibly scan it for you -
Mosen Euro Parts in Hamilton had a wrecked M62 engine so would probably have one

The panel itself.

Not sure how much its worth but figure id put it out there I fixed a battery drain issue on my old's E46, turned out to be the climate control panel. Everything worked fine but must of had an excessive draw once the car was shut off. They used to have to manually turn off the HVAC system before turning off the car otherwise the battery would drain overnight.

Thanks for the help chaps, i forget some work places think they know whats best.

Sounds like the M30. Get the E34 Bentley manual if you dont know what you are doing. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658075

+1 for NZAD rotors. Ive run them on road and track on various cars without issue.
-
The M30 has studs so no need for any sealant. I only use it in places that would normally have a thin paper gasket like waterpump, timing covers etc.
