Since its probably going to be an auto, 540i all the way. 3 series with slushboxes have never felt right to me.
-
Same. I dont think they are worth more than $600 myself.
-
sh*t like this is the reason i didn't want to give my old E34 a new paint job.

Shipping shocks and springs shouldn't cost more than ~350 NZD from the states but then you got f**king customs tax. Cheap coilovers would be a waste of time in your case and i doubt they would go the distance. Finding a good 2nd hand set of springs locally will save you on shipping cost and gst. Ive used Bilstein's in the past but prefer Koni's these days. My last E34 had Vogtland springs with Koni street shocks, decent ride quality and handling while costing me less than $800. -
Your definition is clearly different to mine, all that means nothing to me. I can see tidy M3's going up in value and becoming a collectible, but imo they will never be a true classic BMW
-
Wont be reaching classic status anytime soon.
-
From my experience Monroe's have inferior handling and a short life span. KYB's shouldn't be much if (more any) and are far better.

Got to urge to replay Hexen now

Sound like a recipe for emptying a wallet.
-
Would like to see what sort of buyers this would attract.
-
Has the clutch ever been replaced?
-
If i was staying N\A then refresh the engine, chuck in a cam, set of headers, a MAF, and then get a remap. I don't think doing major head work or touching the bottom is worth the expense.

If you want power and have most of a turbo setup available it seems like a no brainier to me.
-
Possibly a 4.21 then. Easy to rotate it and count it out.

Std E30 small or medium case diff. 6 bolts on rear=small, 8=medium
-
A 1 series with a auto transmission would suck ass. I hear people mention the quality of interiors isnt too great.
-
Oldie but still makes me laugh

May of been legendary when it first came out, 1992 is along time ago. I think Jack of all trades, master of none sums up the BMW brand.
-
Longer wheel base sure helps. Ive found E34's to have less rattles etc than E39, even rugged neglected ones usually ride smooth and quiet.
-
The M54 has plenty of its own flaws. The older 6's are far more reliable and robust in that regard.
-
Well the newer model is always technically better, if you jumped in F10 M5 from the E60 im sure it would be the same story. It always better having more gadgets, power, handling etc until things start to go wrong.

A Jurid OEM front and rear pad set incl shipping would be approx $300NZD from Pelican Parts, so yeah 1\2 price. Ive used random ebay sellers in Europe before but mainly Pelican Parts. Orders from US usually only take 1 week to arrive. Every supplier i have dealt with local or otherwise has been fine.
-
Depends if you want to buy local or not. BNT do Mintex which are a good OEM alternative, and Bendix Ultimates. Euroitalian or Milland would probably have something. Race Brakes will probably have more performance orientated pads rather than OEM spec stuff. Might save a little bit ordering overseas from Pelican Parts etc if you dont mind waiting Yes you can re-use your sensor in this case
