ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted November 9, 2012 Wow. This is the first time I have been on the forum for around a year. I came back to look at this after catching up with a few of the guys last night. This thing is amazing Tony, a credit to you - and just goes to show, with some dedication, time and persaverance anything is possible. Kudos. Now do a f**king skid! westy 614 Report post Posted January 10, 2013 So, I may, or may not, have driven this thing from Hville to Silverdale the other day. And it may, or may not, be something of a hoot to drive. Noisy (no sound deadning), smelly, bumpy (she must be pretty light, it's been some work getting the height down) and a bit twitchy (needs a wheel alignment). All systems work! Plenty more fettling to do but these things are never really finished I guess.
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted January 10, 2013 I just had a flick through the thread. There has sure been a lot of effort put into this car. Top Work!
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted January 10, 2013 Props! That first drive is so satisfying isn't it. But yet creates so many, things still to do... ...and in my case, still doing 10yrs since that first drive

allan 295 Report post Posted March 4, 2013 With the drive shaft hoops I see you have two fitted did you have to fit one at the end of the prop shaft by the diff flange as well?.
westy 614 Report post Posted March 4, 2013 The regs say that a loop must be fitted within 150mm (currently) to the front universal. Two piece shaft-two uni's. No requirement for rear end of shafts. The 150 is likely to be changed to 250 the next time the manual is updated.

allan 295 Report post Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks can you give me the site address as I am getting conflicting stories about what you have to do under which circumstances. Cheers
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks can you give me the site address as I am getting conflicting stories about what you have to do under which circumstances. Cheers There is some stuff on the LVVTA website. And they are very subjective in there application and depends on the certifier. Not all instances require hoops, but it does seem to be the trend for any driveline or power increases, regardless of whether it is a factory unmodified item for the engine/trans etc.... Great work Tony!!

westy 614 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Thanks for bringing this yesterday, Tony. A highlight for me. What a car! Thanks Julian, good meeting you and the boy. All but ready for cert. Replaced the front control arm bushes, stuck some camber plates in to dial out the camber etc. Contemplating losing the tank for a std one with the exhaust out the back again. Proving a pain to seal the fumes out. Anyone have a pic of a later fuel tank? They are a double sided thing? Then maybe sell it for the next project ha.
