Sammo 2544 Report post Posted November 8, 2020 (edited) I just saw this, little disappointed TBH, S50/54 would have been nice. Not that an LS E30 is anything to sniff at! Edited November 8, 2020 by Sammo
leichtbau 525 Report post Posted November 8, 2020 The path well-trodden. Nothing that hasn't been done 20 years ago.
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted November 9, 2020 Yeah i don't follow them but would of thought they would go with something more special or turbo a BMW 6.
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted November 9, 2020 The most common engine swap in the world Easiest option outside of putting in another M20.
zero 1162 Report post Posted November 10, 2020 Should have put a bmw v8 in there - that would have been way cooler
KwS 2425 Report post Posted November 10, 2020 Should've rotary swapped it for maximum hate.
Herbmiester 923 Report post Posted November 10, 2020 I would have liked to have seen an M50 stroker with some cams. Or a s54

People swapping engines love to attract hate. Even when it isn't there most of the time... Actually from reading their comments section many are just disappointed that it is another LS swap. Not that it is a swap.

Herbmiester 923 Report post Posted November 10, 2020 I sometimes think purist are a bit OTT. Porsche Air Cooled enthusiasts are a great example as are manual drivers who dismiss modern DCT and auto boxes and of course the N/A engine guy's who shun all forms of forced induction. I guess this will rankle a few "purists" but it will be a very quick car with this swap so while I would have preferred a BMW engine in there this still works. 2
Rubix 434 Report post Posted November 10, 2020 Bit sad that they didn't even drive their first BMW with a BMW engine, but I'll always appreciate a V8 E30.
Herbmiester 923 Report post Posted November 15, 2020 I think I would have to sell my house to buy that engine.
GorGasm 563 Report post Posted November 15, 2020 They're just doing what they and their tuners support. They could wrangle a S65 in but who would figure out where the wires go? I imagine it would be much tougher in AU to find a BMW guru to integrate a BMW engine in.
Kodachrome 151 Report post Posted November 15, 2020 Yeah but then could have just got a premade harness and ECU online from a tuner that knows this stuff. I bought a setup from Redline Motorsport in the US. Shipped in 2 weeks, all wires marked and EWS and rear O2s removed from ECU. Plug and Play. http://www.redline-motorsport.com/main/page_e30_adapters.html E21, E28, E30, E36 Quote We make harness adapters for all of the following engines: M50 S50 (US and Euro) M52 (Single Vanos) S52 M52TU (Double Vanos) M54 S54 (US and Euro) M60 or M62 (obd1) M62 (Bosch ME5.2) 1 single ECU Plug M62 (Bosch ME5.2.1) 5 small ECU Plugs M62TU (obd2) S62 The LS is obviously a great engine, but its not an interesting swap. Driftit 2078 Report post Posted November 15, 2020 The whole time I didn't realise they were being paid to build it for advertising a game. All makes sense now. Was a low effort speedy build for an advertiser.
Olaf 3317 Report post Posted November 16, 2020 They keep tossing out 'cold war' like it's a brand on a pair of designer jeans. That's a greater travesty than whether they'll be able to get the power down and enjoy it pointing in the right direction. Still wondering when they'll get the welding done ?
