Here is the nice new (ish) unit installed Wow what a difference.. I've been driving the car since I've owned it with the junk VANOS in it .. now it's a different machine! More torque and a much more responsive car overall .. from the info online about the materials used .. most VANOS units with any decent kms are not operating as they should. So best to get it checked out! Also had 7 stripped rocker cover studs which are nice brand new now. All in the life of a high kms engine!

Put one of these into your e30 right now. You will wonder wtf you were doing driving before with a rack that essentially simulates holding a piece of rope out each window to turn.

Sorry guys and girls , son has decided to buy Rays E46 [bloody nice little gem it is]. Even a bit jealous of it myself. A big thanks to HELLBM

This is a very long shot but there are 4 1990 E30 Sport Evo wheels somewhere in NZ. They were swapped out of my car around 2005 and replaced with set of BBS 3 piece basket weaves. I would like to revert to the original rims. If anyone has a lead I would be pleased to follow up. Please note these are not normal E30 M3 wheels as you can see that the spokes wrap over the rim. Thanks for any help.

Turned up this morning. Those 4 devices are a H bridge driver to drive the motor forwards and backwards. Confirmed the darker one is shorted, will remove it later and see if I can identify it. If it can be identified there should be no trouble replacing it, hopefully it hasn't taken out anything else with it.

In my opinion nothing beats the e30 recaro sport seats. They look period correct and support you enough for a bit of spirited back road driving.

Looking at the photos I'd guess all the above parts are toast except the diff. Maybe. Would want to have an expert check the state of the bearings before I put it into another car. Given the state of the left front and rear right corners I would be keeping stress fractures and collapsed rollers in mind regarding the bearings. Sway bars will probably have bent too. Engine looks reasonably unscathed from the photo (God knows what its like underneath though) and one would assume the gearbox is ok. Good luck to all the interested parties, you'll probably be fighting Ray and Brent for it too!

Aha good to know. That's what the team said .. they had never done this on a S50B32 so probably got it a bit confused. They were a good bunch though! And the results are great.

Pretty cool - hadn't seen that yet. He's developed roller rockers for them, and cam profiles to take advantage of it. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/133673-new-cnc-machined-roller-rockerarm-for-m10m30-by-dynotechse/?view=findpost&p=960883 http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/163327-roller-rockers-for-m10/#entry1031813

Aha so this is why you needed that 2nd E30 body!

Good to hear. I assume you're getting your old VANOS unit back? If so, hit me up as we can recondition it.

I use the St 1 98RON map (with BP 98). There is a noticeable difference with the 95RON map, not huge but its there.

Yesterday I popped into Glenn's place in Botany to sort out my handbrake. Great experience even for a small job like this. Bonus taking to Glen. He has some good advice to give. A++ Thanks

Sure is. He got this to work using larger injectors, a larger maf and fmu. No tuning and on the stock dme. He's getting 9-10lbs boost with a 2.8in pully. So the potential is there for more if the trans can handle it..lol

I'd probably go with the Febi. Doesn't mean the others are bad, only that I've not used them and never had problems with Febi parts.
