  1. EV like a Leaf would be perfect for short trips like these.
  2. They refer to specs and to make sure you “need” replacement. It meant you measure the thickness of the rotors, see if there’s any cracks, unusual grooves, scratches, etc. and visually check the remaining pad materials and see how much you have left. As much as we hate to admit it, some shops might prey on some owners not knowing any better and recommend work that are not needed. I can’t tell whether this is the case here, but it might pay to have another shop to take a second look at it. Even if it means paying say half hour of their time to give you an inspection and report
  3. Start with the battery before anything else, low voltage does funny things to many euro cars.
  4. Should be ok to weld but that bike needs a clean
  5. Meh, you’d notice the GA to FL to Jersey leg is with another carrier. Most likely that’s their consolidated shipping partner.
  6. Saw that couple days ago, but realistically they can only pull someone up that is the stand out one in a group of vehicles right?
  7. Depending on what year is the vehicle. Personally, if it got a factory immobiliser, that's good enough for insurance purpose. Good installer/workmanship is more important than fancy features on the hardware. GPS trackers, you can have managed ones that you subscribe on a monthly fee and some self-managed ones basically put a SIM card and GPS receiver in your car. Latter ones are cheaper to run but you need to remember to top-up the SIM card for it to work properly.
  8. You might just have to do a parasitic drain test on the electrical system fuse by fuse, it will give you a much better idea of what’s draining the battery. I have a much newer car (2014) with Comfort Access and will still start even when it got parked up for 2 months.
  9. as above, just order a new key. A non-remote ignition key is fairly priced from dealer. I won't tell you how much as my last order was over 5 years ago, making it somewhat irrelevant. Give the parts department a call.
  10. Nice..... love those seats. Kinda like it got steam rollered by a tyre.

    Insurance

I am a courier driver, my commercial policy says I am covered for any “reasonable” vehicle that I might be driving. But you wouldn’t want to know how much it costs....
  12. Pretty sure you are right on that one. Probably on car part prices there are bit more difference in prices as we are a small market after-all.
  13. That price can't be right... 20-30% off NZ price I get it, but this is like 75% off. I hope it works out for you.
  14. Politicians ruin everything fun. It's their job and duty.
  15. 2-300 for generic vs 5-600 for genuine. Just a hearsay figures here. i am more interested in why insurance is squabbling.
  16. No different to many other drivers on the road. Especially more often in the west and south Auckland. Deep breath and look away.
  17. Cars like this are likely garaged all its life. But velour seat and those mats are interesting. I was expecting leather on all 7-series Those tyres could be original too. lol....
  18. What could be worse? How about a BMW branded Civic? ///M badged Toyota Camry The list goes on.
  19. The one in glove box is for maintenance purpose, backup data from the iDrive harddrive, update firmware/maps, etc... You can't play MP3 songs off it. If you want to play songs with USB, it needs a USB audio interface (option 6FL) located in the centre arm rest and it looks like the photo above. The USB stick has to be formatted in FAT (maybe FAT32 as well) ,

This? In blue BMW M3 Coupe 2012
  21. It's kind of a electroplating, I polished bit of it off by accident when using a polisher machine.
  22. Not sure what shop's gift card you've got, if it is for BMW dealerships, BMW's own brand stuff are actually quite good. Meguiar is also good and if you know what you are doing, specific 3M commercial detailing product are also good.
  23. I could be wrong but I thought those two are different thing and do different job in the cooling system.
  24. Highly recommend Autolign in Mt Wellington for install. Also recommend Nolathan bushes, makes a huge difference in handling compare to the old worn rubber one. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  25. Agree about the water bit. If you need energy drinks, you are too tired and should have a nap. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
