K band is used by speed cameras the van ones but they have a very narrow beam and low power and usually point towards things that don't bounce the signal well like concrete barriers. You're lucky if you pick up a van camera k band signal. Otherwise you'll be constantly bothered by normal k band use with automatic doors etc so most people turn it off. Those cams are 22deg offset from the road and very hard to pick up. The only good thing is no demerits if you can afford the ticket fine. Police car radar works on KA band and is a very strong signal. Any decent detector should see it from over 1km away depending on line of sight and the terrain. Rarely used as automatic door openers .. Think maybe the frequency even might be restricted by local authorities. Laser at 905nm is definitely restricted but also high powered so you should see that coming. If you're not in a group of cars when laser alert comes on you're most likely out of luck. If you're worried about laser there are illegal options but will let Google help you with that. PS. I do not condone speeding. Any comments are for info only.

I have a STI magnum and it picks up the new camera vans on K band from a pretty good distance, but I usually see them first anyway. Door openers set off on K, I usually leave it disabled. Never had any falses on KA, always been a cop. Laser is very directional and likely you wont detect it unless you are been targeted.

Just wondering how much time would be saved if admin made it compulsory to give your location when you join this site. I guess I will die wondering.

Those traffic lights on the motorway can be annoying but they make for a great way to test the cars 0-100 capabilities!

Your doing better than I ever have, i've owned 3x E39's and 2x Preludes with the H22a, they were quite fast for a 2.2L with 200hp etc. None of the E39's have been that economical, but are fine for the type / class of car. I struggle to do better than 12L/100k for around town driving in my 530i, on a trip 9-9.5L/100k, cars got a 70L tank, so I guess I can do over 700k on a trip, but around town its less, more like 550-580k a tank. I guess for mixed driving, town and country its around 11L/100k. Official Stats for the 530i: http://bmw-specifications.com/5_series/e39/e39_2-edycja/250/530ia.html

Right, and if you're lucky you'll pick up some scatter from any cars just in front of you that are targeted. Only if you're really lucky though. I think some people always make sure they're behind a car when speeding, they refer to them as a 'rabbit' I don't intend to speed with the V1, what bugs me is 95% of people who travel at 90km/h on a single lane road also speed up to over 100km/h at passing lanes. I firmly believe that overtaking should be done as quickly as possible and now it can without getting ticketed

Decent sub firing through a ski pass setup works well. Needs to be baffled to reduce the energy in the boot. You end up with rattle free clean bass and don't need too much power. Getting good mid bass out of the door card mounting is a different story without cutting holes.

Oh forgot this was the M3 thread. Plans: - Subframe Reinforcement - Inspection II - CSL DME Upgrade - Suspension Set up to ride lower - Wire in Angel Eyes Those are the things that will be done over the next couple months. In future - Wheels, Looking at a few - Full Respray (Maybe Wrap?) - Exhaust (Agency?) - Potential Sound Upgrade if the HK parts become available And then the Ideastosuperchargeorturbobecauseeveryonedreams Yeah there's a list somewhere around the house and it's an A4 page long, it's had the basics done like Diff Service, Interior Trim fix, New SMG shifter, New Boot with Spoiler, reversing lights no cloudy, tinted indicators, black out, Carbon Supreme tint.. Not a lot but only owned it since the beginning of December....

Agree on the updates. Just because we don't reply heaps, doesn't mean we aren't interested/watching. I'd been fiddling with VW stuff, though not quit as in depth. Reading EEPROMs and altering IMMO pins etc, so it's cool to see stuff like this. Keep it up!

Code it to flash the indicators when locking, then set angels as additional turn signals. Easy (with BMW Scanner 1.4, or NCS). I ca do it for you... but the 10 hour drive is more expensive than the software costs: http://www.xcar360.com/bmw-scanner-1-4-0-car-diagnostic-interface-tool-code-reader.html US$29.99

Ive noticed end of last year and this year its actually now pretty much anti-social to smoke ... Was at a concert recently and the smokers took themselves far away from the crowd. to light up. Most people I think know they only have a few years left of it .. I personally think the government should just fast track the banning of it because we as a nation are ready socially to accept the ban.

Yeah when I was 17 I got jumped outside work when I jumped into my e30. Some fairly normal looking guy waved me down in the car park and being the good c that I am, I pulled up to see what was wrong. He then said what are you looking at and if I had an eye problem (lol). He then grabbed me by the collar and started punching me in the head which was nice, and said to give him all my money and my phone. Luckily for some reason I didn't have my phone that day and only had my eftpos card on me so he said "your going to drive me to the bank and get all your money out". Sweet as bei, Being 17 I had about $30 in overdraft in my account anyway. Then he ripped my mitre ten name badge off and said if you drive off I'm going to find you and went to walk round the front of the car. I put the car into first and launched it at him harder than I have ever launched the race car even. He managed to just get tagged on the leg and I drove off. Had I hit him I swear to baby Jebus I would have reversed and run him over multiple times. He didn't come back to find me. That's one of about 7 times that's happened to me in my younger days. Admittedly I was asking for it driving around in nice cars. Zzz
