2 pointsThats awesome mate. My ex had a lot do do with the previous marketing people at the ZOO, was a really fun place to work, lots of cool things going on. Congratulations. Took my nephew the other week. Can you have a word to the Tigers about their laziness?? I mean, they just sleep partially hidden all day. That would be great.

2 pointsAgreed, Audi seem to have evolved really nicely with the frontal impact design requirements. I dont think the same of BMW or Mercedes, the designs have become.... odd to say the least. Bring back the days of jutting out bumpers and lower bonnet lines!

2 pointsI've (currently) got ACS Type IIs on our E46. 17x8 et39, and they sit well out in the arches, but with no rubbing. Add another 0.5" rim width, and poke them out the side of the car by an inch due to the lower offset, and I think you could find yourself with rims that stick out of the side of the car a bit. Nice rims, though. If you have the opportunity, pop a couple on the car and have a look.

2 pointsNot exactly a BMW. Helped a mate out remove a snapped bolt in one of the heads of his GC8 WRX v3. I love my mill ... makes doing this sort of stuff effortless.

2 pointsPretty stoked to be in a job where I can be paid to drive around and talk sh*t to people. I've been talking sh*t my whole life, now I get paid to do it. Winner. Also did I mention lesbians.

2 pointsSeems I may have killed this a bit so I'll get back on the positive track. Happily married for over a year now and enjoying having a team mate for life.

1 pointHi all. I posted a thread on my wheels in the wheels and tyres category a couple weeks ago but here we have my 328ci coupe. I bought her at 120 ks a year and a bit ago with a blown head gasket from one of my clients. Turns out the viscous fan had stopped working. Fully rebuilt the engine and she's been running like a dream ever since. Now I am getting so bored with the automatic/tiptronic transmission so my intention is to do a manual conversion at some point this year. Any tips or pointers would be really helpful as I haven't done a manual conversion on an e46 before. Heres some of her specs : * Done 144 xxx kms. * Blacked out kidney grills and chrome accents ( Done by Grant Peterson at Custom Coatings North Shore,Mad love for his work and him,my good friend) * Smoked front, side and rear tail lamps with three stripes left clear for theatrical effect ( Custom Coatings North Shore) * 19 inch style 95 wheels in a custom colour wrapped in Falken 452 215/35/19 on the front 9 inch rims and 235/35/19 inch on the rear 10 inch rims ( Major thanks to Grant Peterson (Custom Coatings) for the painting and CPR ( Matt Brook) for the Blast work * KNN performance panel filter * Pioneer USB/SD/Aux headunit * Twin Pioneer DVC subwoofers 400 rms each with d class amplifier * M sport bumper (front) * lowered in the front slightly ( ) rear sitting just on tyre. * Carbon Fibre front and rear BMW badges * Personalized Euro plate EUROHO Plans and wishlist : * Performance chip *M sport rear bumper and skirts *Manual Conversion * Cold air intake * Upgrade Air flow meter to 330ci * Install Angel Eyes ( Already have em, major thanks to Jasjot for clips to secure them) * remove cat converter and change rear muffler to amplify sound of that beautiful six *Re- secure front bumper due to it being pulled by my lovely lady at the mall carpark Anyways here are some pics folks. I also do welding and exhaust work and would be happy to hook you guys up with some very competitive prices if you need work done. A mechanic by trade and have my own shop in Wairau Valley. here is Delilah now ( pre rims and suspension change) Any suggestions more than welcome. Also thoughts on wrapping the roof centre section in gloss black?

1 pointI know! Hopefully I'll be in a position to organise some pretty cool stuff. Thanks Graham. On one visit, one of the keepers took one of the kune kune pigs on a walk past the tiger enclosure... They got pretty excited then and were banging up against the glass (my son, who was pressed to the glass on the other side just about shat his pants!!). Haha. Have you got any issue with the current one?

1 pointSo much nope to new Mercs. cheaply built, hideously unreliable, mass produced and over priced pieces of sh*t. Audi for sure.
-
1 pointYea, that sucks. Gone are the day where a group of people would sit down with a protractor, pencil and sheet of paper and design something revolutionary! I think that goes for 99% of all the cars nowadays imo
-
1 pointDoes look rather like the F12 though. As John says, they're all rolling off the same software platform so the differences come down to lights, grilles and wheels.
-
1 pointThe new 3/4 series IMO look better than any other car from Merc/Audi out at the moment. They certainly look better than the e90/91 too.

1 pointET13 is ultra aggressive for an e36. I don't think they would fit without some pretty serious guard work. E36s were ~ET38 from the factory, so like Graham says, you're looking at a wheel which sits ~25mm further out than a factory wheel, width not withstanding. You'd want to check the centre bore is E36 spec too, otherwise you'd need to get the bores milled or buy hubcentric rings. For the record though, type 2s are awesome! I had ACS Type 1s on my old m3, which I loved.

1 pointCar is sitting in the garage with no engine. So basically covers it on a trailer from A to B and if it gets stolen or house burns down. I think from memory it may cover specific car parts but I would need to check the policy documents

1 pointI quite like the "old" current C class, a 'special friend' had one on finance, was the 1800cc (or so i assume) version, might have been diesel too now i think about it. wasnt quick by any means but inside and out was very good, and drove very well. not sure what repair bills would be like on a non-AMG one, but probably reasonable. Suited her so i guess thats all that matters lol I would rock a new Merc over a new BMW any day of the week, but i would still buy a new Audi, they are the only one that is consitently getting it right. Largely due to thier grill design suiting the flatter nose i guess

1 pointI've found Prestigio pretty good. You'll have to go through a broker usually but both E30s are insured through them. Mine is about $500-600 per year, unlimited kms for full cover. Valued at 6k, and they've been informed of the modifications including the engine conversion. The touring on the other hand is insured under a restoration cover which is cheap as chips. Only downside is the under 25 excess but no one gets away from that. Unfortunately they wouldn't insure the Subaru (08 WRX STI) because it wasn't going to be garaged. Vero was good in this instance and premium was a few hundred dollars less than State.

1 pointyep they have that here, and thats how swann works. The key thing is Swann is designed for those cars NOT daily driven. 25 years old is the change over between thier modern classic policy and thier classis policy. Classis appears to be anything over 25 years old, and not daily driven. My E30 has just changed over policies (interestingly same price, appears to be little more than marketing). on both, they are a little bit lenient on the mods, but it depends what kind of mods, and the reason they were done. Eg, my E34 V12 wagon is as cool as my E30, but a very different car with a different focus, and very modified, they are not interested. Maybe when its 25 years old they may be. As for the modern classic policy, it is for cars that are unlikely to go out of fashion etc. Eg they will cover convertibles and coupes, also M3, AMG etc. But they arent going to cover a 318i with schnitzer badges or a little 1 series hatchback. not to mention they are daily driven anyways most likely.

1 pointMy old 328i was great on the open road, whether I fanged it or not, trips from Aucks to Wgtn were awesome for the money. But around Auckland, mmm it wasn't a Corolla that's for sure, but the balance was more than worth it. On the highway I reckon it was sucking juice similar to my old Primera, which is to say very good, it's just around town she was a bit sucky.

1 pointBMWs, but not necessarily because of the cars themselves, but the awesome people I have met along the way, many of whom are good friends now and having a place to crash in almost every city in NZ because of it (and they all having a place here in Wellington) also has its advantages!

1 pointYeah, i hate e30 steering columns so much. Every time I have to screw with it it takes me 3x longer than it should. Just earlier this week I had the whole lower part disconnect sooner than I was expecting while I was unbolting it from underneath and it coned me directly in the forehead/eye. Still nursing a black eye...

1 pointI'm with Swann but it's classic car insurance. Includes $20K agreed cover, track day cover, OE glass cover, roadside recovery and unlimited kms. Just had to show that it is not a daily driver and is garaged. I pay $300 fully comp on a V12 but I am 40.
