2 pointsInterestingly my bank wouldn't insure my house (even though they have the mortgage) so had to have a broker do that, i thought that was pretty weird. In NZ the next decade have had on good advise its always worth putting a "subject to insurance" clause in house purchase/sale agreements.

2 pointsJust got the 545i restored back to stock exhaust but with butterfly valve sprung open. Aside from being sane and pleasant to ride in the car again, there's a little more volume when you're not giving it welly. The horrible 1500-2000RPM drone is history!!!! If life was about winning with the most stupid points, I'd have moved up a few ranks with the muffler delete

1 pointThought I would start a thread to track progress of the 316ti race car. The bulk of the parts are coming from the e30, I'll have a rolling e30 (as per my sig) shell left over at the end of it if anyone is keen. Here it is as it stands currently, looks average and is the most uninspiring car to drive with a mighty 100hp at the fly.

1 pointFor Sale is my 6 speed manual 2001 NZ New Audi S3, its done 186km and I only use if for the commute from Wellington to Lower Hutt for work. I'm after something with a larger boot for the wife...probably a station wagon or larger saloon. So thought I'd sell my little runabout. It's a great car, leather recaro interior, forge diverter valve, yellowspeed coilovers, milltek exhaust and tuned to around 189kw... so it handles and drives really well. I'm looking for $8k ono http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1012650090

1 pointCheers Breaker - good to have choices eh! A friend of mine sold his E39 M5 last year and I did briefly ponder buying it FYI my E60 wouldn't start this morning - flat battery - and as far as I can tell there was nothing 'left on' to drain it. Took it into Pitstop and got the battery checked - came up as 'borderline' so to be on the safe side had it replaced and hoped it might resolve the iDrive issue.... No such luck of course so its in @Jeff Gray tomorrow to get sorted!

1 pointJust so as you know, the auto and manual brackets are the same. You just hang a clutch pedal and master off the other side of it (with manual brake pedal too). The pedals them selves aren't too pricey from dealers etc. If you're going to do it check with Will as to which gas pedal he used and if the e30 arrangement is compatible with the e36 gear.

1 pointThis. The front flange of a V8 is larger than the 6 cyl. Edit; the e36/46 ZF flange is too small. You'll need something like an auto shaft to suit the body and a front half shaft to suit the V8 (auto and manual V8s share the same flange). Take the 2 pieces to a drive shaft shop and have them mash the 2 front shafts together. They'll cut it at the welds to the flange and the uni and put a new piece in. Once you have the engine and gearbox in there you can take a measurement. Gunna need to shorten the shifter too. Ah the joys of real engine swaps ha.

1 pointTried out some tunes on the Revolution Dyno Centre dyno. I still need to dial in the tune but have already got massive gains in the midrange.

1 pointSpent the day in auckland yesterday pillaging parts from a e39 540. came home with a oil filter remote setup, power steering pump and lines, battery relocation kit. wanted the driveshaft but some bugger had rounded the bolts off on the diff so had to leave it :/ Stopped in and had a chat with brent at BMworld and picked up a new wiring loom and needed rocker cover. And a big shout out to the boys at SD European, stopped by for a chat and left with a nice 2.93 med case diff from a e28 and a e30 rear cover for a bargain price. Home for a clean up with a wire wheel and a quick spray to get it looking nice. A new revshift diff bush and the diff spacers and studs and already to go in when my axles turn up. Things are moving along nicely now. rear end almost all back together finally.

1 pointI think you might find the tube has to be quite a bit bigger to handle the torque over that length without bowing. What would the advantage be?
