1 pointProject: Convert E46 HELLM3 into a S65/manual E46/E92 hybrid. Our approach will differ to the other more complicated ways of making things fit. We aim to not tamper with steering and suspension setup. Started with a donor E46 to use as a mockup with a cutoff wheel taken to a subframe. Engine /gearbox placement has been achieved quite nicely (great skills `HellBoy`) Engine mounts ,gearbox mounts, exhaust to be fabricated by Quest. To compensate for the extra height added by the E65 plenum we will fabricate an E92 M3 bonnet dome onto the E46 M3 bonnet. Pics will tell the story.

1 pointSOLD! Well....that time is near...so i thought i'd put it out there.... Never thought this day would come...I am about to put my E36 on the market, toward the end of April, thought i'd try the BMW community first, and generate some interest if there's any, ?.... 1998 E36 328i Coupe- Auto ZF ( NZ NEW ), 173, XXX Km's, in a stunning Avus Blue paint, Registered first in February 1999. Non-Sunroof, Full Leather ( Electric front seats ), no door card sag, no rips in leather, however headlining has decided to let go of life altogether haha. Owners : 6 in total, 4 Private Owners, including myself, and 2 Companies, Finance Branch and a Car Sales outfit... Partial Service History, most of it from me ?, I have used BMWorkshop - Botany for all major services, and minor services i've done myself. Most of the major work needed for the E36 machine has already been done, it has never broke down on me once in all the years i've owned it, and with the right up-keep from a dedicated owner...it should continue to soldier on! Not even the typical "Cooling Failure" which i am extremely fortunate with the E36 prone to this. I purchased the car in December 2011, from an elderly man, whom was a perfectionist and maintained it like a show car...you get the idea... UPDATE : Anyway, it has full Bilstein suspension all round, purchased new late last year, and have travelled less than 3K km's, about the last thing i need to do is the Headlining, and Passenger Electric Seat Tilt function seems to be stuck now, so very minor, but will hopefully get these smaller things done real soon, otherwise the car is in great condition and drives extremely well. UPDATE : 21/04/2016 : "FULL SERVICE COMPLETED" YAY!! All advisories taken care of, only the Air-Con was a bit weak, and i've been told it needs regassing but as we're heading into winter it can wait, although it still functions well, that's on the "to do list", pretty much gave my arm and leg on this service LOL! all things that were significant have been done, and all the usual heavy maintenance costs that you encounter with an E36 have been covered during my ownership and previous good owners, WOF & Rego till October 2016 completed through BMWorkshop. UPDATE: 06/09/2016 29/08/2016 - BMWorkshop Botany, Air-Con Unit Re-gassed, Cam Cover Gasket seal replaced, eliminating the typical oil leakage. New Trasnmission Mounts, old ones had seen better days and needed replacing whilst at BMWorkshop. Side Notes from Maintenance Service : The slightest play in Front Left Shock, slight creak when turning at low speed, but not noticelable half the time, could be related, rather strange as they were new, but may need to look at rebuilding / replacing that one Bilstein Shock. Rear Trailing Arm Bushes are getting tired, may need attending at some stage, but hasn't been set as anything urgent. Also had resprayed the Front Right Guard last year in December after some idiot tagged it in the car park, fortunately they were honest and it was sorted out with Insurance, replaced the Panel and resprayed it at South Suburban Motor Bodies on Cavendish drive, Manukau. Looking for $6K-$5.8K, price negotiable for members ( prefered to have enthusiasts take it ) motivated to sell up and move onto other projects, Pictures will follow down below, Thanks, Peter.

1 pointHi, welcome to the forum, Lidushan. lovely looking e30 you have there. I'll make a prediction: soon, e30's on Bottle Caps will become preferred, as they'll be rare. Everyone else will be running cross-spokes (basket-weaves). Those running bottle-caps will be seen as people of discerning taste. cheers!

1 pointIts the time factor that most cant cope with, 0-100-0 three times in 2minutes without a noticeable loss of performance! It can be fun to watch!

1 pointSorry guys i have been busy with other things and haven't updated with other exterior / interior pics, will do that shortly, also, most if not all the important info has been put in the description so potential interested parties have peace of mind, but if there's anything you can think of, don't hesistate to ask, thanks, Peter.

1 pointSorted now, or atleast we've got a tow. It's under the intake manifold at the back so no chance of a diy unfortunately.

1 pointJust upgraded my MHD ECU flash today. I see now it has an option for cars equipped with the Alpina Flash. Can't say that I noticed any significant difference, although I reset the throttle adaptions, so may still be learning.

1 pointI have a e34 4.4L V8 6spd wagon already a e46 M3 e64 M6 vert(for sale) problem is they all weigh heaps. the e28 was lighter than the e46 so power to weight was way better and way more low down torque. the m6 is only a 4 seater if even that :S trying to find something that's not just fast but nimble is pretty hard. have a couple of super charger kits laying around might have to put them to good use

1 pointMade great progress today. Started at around 10am, by 1pm the engine, gearbox, driveshaft, diff and exhaust were out. By the end of the day I also removed the rear subframe, control arms and complete hubs. Almost got the steering box off but I gave up and went home before I got it fully off. Tomorrow the plan is to change out the rear subframe bushes and put it back in along with the e34 trailing arms, hubs and brakes plus do whatever else I can. At this rate I'm starting to think there is a possibility it will be going by next weekend. Big thanks to my friend Gancen who, depsite being sick, was up and onsite at 8am to give me a hand to pull the motor. What a champ. By the way, the eta motor, gearbox and diff are for sale for those interested.

1 pointJust a thought - i could order a bunch of stickers and put them in my shop for those who come along for the monthly meet. Saves ollie from having to send them out individually and people car buy them and put it on their car straight away.

1 pointJust for comparisons sake, I sold Dads NZ New 1990 325i SE Manual Sedan for $8K, sight unseen, to the second enquiry (first was a DREAMER!) We're in Whangarei, he's in Christchurch. The sale was about a 3 minute phonecall... he just wanted it, and offered cash in the bank that night, no questions except, would I trust it to drive to CHCH! I stretched it out, to make sure he knew what he was getting (it's not perfect! 235K-ish, but damn honest and tidy). I originally had had it $8800 no reserve, or $9200 buy now. I think, overall, it's not as nice as yours, but it a lot more desirable (especially to older guys, with money ) Details: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/54221-e30-respect/ Paul from Milland had a PFL 318i Coupe, that was IMMACULATE, seriously immaculate, and the previous owner had it 27 years, with a service history from dealers only, and I think he was looking at similar prices to Dads. I don't know what your's is worth, but it's worth a certain amount, to just the right person An unmolested minter is genrally a better car, than a more powerful shitter . The 15's are still worth a bit too, but some buyers won't appreciate them for what they cost to buy a decent set.

1 point"Yes that is correct sir. I put an aftermarket IC, charge pipe and exhaust on the car but didnt touch the ECU its stock and I have no idea why the turbos are blown"

1 pointPete, if you've not experienced them, consider http://europeanleathercare.co.nz in Petone. You can have them do the work on your leather, or buy their kit and do it yourself. with a few hours elbow grease, I had my volvo black leather seats looking nealy new. the Elephant leather preservative is amazing. HTH. They do different kits to match the colour of your leather. Firmly recommended.

1 pointI have two problems, One you are in auckland, and second i lack any good wheels =D

1 pointTotally agree with you Martyn on the 3.0i. I drove one before buying the V8 and it was not lacking at all. We actually had it overnight and almost bought it. The only reason we got the V8 was because it was tidier and had more service history. I do like the sound the M52 six makes. They aren't by any means lacking and when you compare to similar sized/weighted vehicles such as a previous generation Toyota Highlander etc they are excellent value for money and perform and likely handle better. I only wish I never bothered with the Land Rover and Pajero.

1 pointFor what it's worth I went through this last year and I have to be honest I'm surprised at the canning the 3.0 petrol is getting. To be fair I have no intention of towing anything and I was on a pretty restrictive budget. We just needed something bigger for our family. I'm 6'5, my wife is 6' and you can guess how tall the kids are if we struggle to fit into an e39. I've owned e39 528's, 530's, 540's and an e38 740 and was only ever interested in the 3.0 petrol knowing what it costs to maintain an M62 and what it costs to fix if it goes wrong. I would have loved a diesel but the premium was too great. I picked up a mint 2003 with 180k kms and a folder full of service history for under 10k. Any diesel equivalents had done well over 300k kms and were closer to 15k. My 535is now sits in the garage, my wife drives the e39 to work and I drive the X5 on the 600km weekly motorway munching for the kids sport. You don't buy an X5 to drag others at the lights and the 3.0 petrol has more than enough grunt. We drove to Hastings and back from Otaki two weeks ago, with all five of us and the boot fully loaded and I could still overtake with ease. It's a brilliant cruiser. I've had it three months and it's returning 11.2l/100km. My e34 is in the 12's and the e39 the 9's. It's an absolute dream to drive and I only wish I'd bought one years ago.

1 pointWe bought an earlier model pre-facelift e53 X5 for towing the boat a while back. We previously had a Discovery and Pajero and the X5 is leaps and bounds ahead. Ours has the sport package so it's firm, but once it's loaded up it rides nicely. It's not the best of build quality compared to other BMW models, but it still looks good for a 14 year old car. We decided on the V8 because the diesel's had a higher price and for the amount of mileage we do in it, it simply wasn't worth it. Agreed, it looks like a "Remuera tractor" but it tows effortlessly, it's big and safe, even has sway control when the trailer is hooked up. Boat weighs about 1.8 ton, I got 15L per 100kms on a recent trip Wellington to Taupo and back and it did not slow down on any of the hills :-). Not too shabby when I compare that to the Discovery and Pajero which were gutless.
