BMW needs cooling system redone as has coolant leaks. (as of last weekend) No sweat, I'll do that this weekend and use my daily. Daily crapped out yesterday. F&*$#&*&*$*#$#@*

Small update. Have since enjoyed the sh*t out of driving this thing a hell of alot. It sure does turn heads! Some positive, some negative - people roll up their windows when I pull up beside them in town! Cosmetically all Ive done since cert is have the windows tinted to 35% by Protint in New Plymouth. Craig did an amazingly good job! Mechanically its had a bit of a tickle up.. Ive fitted an aluminium gilmer drive pulley setup, admittedly theres no need for this but I love the way it looks and sounds! Also, the open diff was not cutting the mustard and the new found power tore the old subframe bushes to pieces. I commissioned a LSD build from a forum member and ordered a Powerflex bush set from Darren at NZAD and then got to work! The car now drives so much better, particularly at speed and under acceleration. The diff is SUPER tight and will take some getting used to, but at least its predictable. I had a ball this weekend driving around, even got out at night to light up the country side with some big old flames from the exhaust! Cant wait for another sunny weekend to get out and drive this beast! Ive added some photos and a very small video that someone got today - not long, but better than nothing! More to come hopefully - https://vimeo.com/166683745

Well, it's home. And it's dark, so no pics. Temp gauge struggles to climb out of cold. Needs a gear knob, and the rearview mirror wobbles like a nodding dog. It's been lowered, the arches have been rolled, and there's signs of rubbing so we'll need to touch that up. Curiously, and contrary to Jared's post, this one actually seems to like a few revs, and goes fairly well above 3-4k. Assuming the forecast storms don't roll in over night, I'll have a far better look over tomorrow.

Not sure on exact model mate. I've had these seats in another car for a year or so, and love the balance of comfort vs support. Way more comfy than my old fixed back racing seats, and much more supportive than OEM M3 ones. Plus they look <3 in full alcantara. They don't bolt in directly, you need aftermarket floor mounts, as well as spare seat & airbag occupancy sensors from BMW (unless you're happy to hack up your OEM seats). The added bonus of aftermarket mounts is you can interchange a variety of bucket vs reclining seats with ease.

Thats pretty normal though. Most cars need the dash out to replace the heater core.

so why not test it on a steel bootlid?

If it stayed at $5k I'd be interested. Somehow I doubt that will happen

Swap it for an m42b18, 140 hp and still decent torque.

And thus endeth one of the longer running sagas around here- well done Graham. She will be safer than in an E30 too. So when do you go shopping for some Ados F2 and 2 way stretch fabric?

Sounds perfect! The M43 behind an auto is piss weak, but with a manual box it aint half-bad. Sounds like an ideal first car.

Bloody houses. Not house prices... Found a house we like. Been on the market for 11 months. Over-priced at the admission of the sellers - they've nowhere to move to, so thought they'd see what the market had to say and if it sold, they'd take time off and find a rental. Went to look on Thursday evening. Not perfect, but that wasn't expected. Nice bit of land, nice outlook, nice neighbourhood, good community. Spend the weekend doing due diligence. Call on Monday and... They'd just received a full asking price offer. (Seriously - not a seller put-on.) 11 fu^%%* months, we look, and that happens! Wouldn't mind quite so much but it is the 5th or 6th time this situation has come up in 9 months. The first place we looked at had been on the market for 18 months, we looked at it, and the very next day an agent approached the owner saying they had a buyer. <sigh> Good job we don't need to move. In the meantime, I think I'll advertise our services to anyone who is having problems selling.
