Started the long weekend early. Getting refurb’d struts and control arms back in was a challenge and required dropping the subframe some then using jack to compress springs and shocks. Getting steering rack back on steering shaft took a bit of trial and error. In the end holding the steering knuckle in place with a long screwdriver and using a rubber mallet to knock rack’s splined shaft worked. Installed new discs and pads. Was planning to paint callipers but can’t wait to have a drive again so will leave it for when I reupholster seats & cards. Made up a bush pressing tool and used kerosene to lubricate bush and arm. Passenger side was easier as the exhaust gets a bit in the way on the drivers side but was pretty straightforward and easier than expected. Back on all fours Before starting I disconnected ignition leads and removed plugs. Turned over 3x10secs and each time oil light went out as oil pressure built. Should have removed fuel pump relay so it didn’t flood. Reinstalled plugs/coils and it started.first pop so took for quick easy run around the block. Ran out of time so plan is to take it for a long easy drive maintaining revs between 2000 & 4000rpm to run the bearings in. Looking forward to just driving it for a while ?.

Yeah, I agree... $15k is a sharp price if it drives well. Spend another $5k on it and it could be mint.

Trademe really needs to do more about that. I've proven to them on 2 different auctions, shill bidding had taken place. On one of them my autobid was maxed and the the bidder that beat me had their bid removed about 3 minutes before closing (despite having 100% positive feedback so clearly not one to f**k people around), the person hadn't asked for their bid to removed. The other I contacted the person who outbid me (they had their own car for sale) and they were the flatmate of the vendor. They should roll back any autobids when a top bid is removed.

Shout out to promo and recommendation to all for any coding/tuning/re-mapping/key programming etc in Wellington area... Had issues with my daughters newly purchased 2007 E87 120i with key access not working - car would start OK but could not lock/unlock from remote... Had tried Beveridge's and even dealer without much luck. ...dropped the car to promo who found that car was OK, but both keys supplied were wrong type (correct freq but not CAS3 compatible) - he managed to find a new OEM key & programmed it - works fantastic! Was about to give up & install 3rd party alarm just for unlocking convenience - but that would mean two remotes etc. While talking promo also mentioned he could look at my other car - a 2008 E90 335D - which had previously been remapped in Auckland, but has big issue with HUGE soot clouds when exercising right-foot... I mean "James Bond would be proud" smokescreen. Only started being an issue once blocked DPF was changed... Anyway, promo suggested he could load factory tune to confirm issue was not more sinister - which he did and problem solved! Have not really noticed too much power loss as yet, but might be back to promo to get new tune loaded before long... Thanks promo - recommend to all

Mods, please move if already posted, I couldn't find a thread on this car that's been on TM for a long time and just dropped to $15k https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m3/listing/2477132648 Anyone seen this? Seems very cheap although high kms and probably needs some love? Get rid of the tint, repaint the wheels and tidy the interior, could be a nice car.

I got a sheet of this, not genuine alcantara, but close enough: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Ultrasuede-Ambiance-HP-High-Performance-54-Wide-Fabric-by-the-Yard-5709/131393921273 Way more than I ever needed and has been enough to cover my door handles, dash trim piece and other bits and bobs like the gear knob, that black is a good match with the BMW performance alcantara steering wheel trim piece. I then glued it on with 3M super 77, couldn't find any 3M hi-strength 90, but the 77 is doing well. The gearshift boot and handbrake boot I got from https://cobywheel.com/ As for my 135 vs evo, my 135 is so much of a nicer road car, my evo is an RS so is an arse to drive sometimes with no aircon and sound deadening, plus its modified to the point now where it's only happy going fast on some back roads or track days, absolutely brilliant at that, it has a certain basic raw charm to it that my 135 doesn't have nor would I want it to have.

Hey Team Long time no post, well Happy new years I cant believe we are already 11 days in. so have had a few things going on that werent really related to this build but still bimmer related. Me and Conrad coverted this to manual and flicked it off to help get some more funds for these other builds. But also got these Hamman custom 3 piece wheels finally finshed, they were meant to be for the other e34 car, Unfortunately the didnt fit due to the offset. Fronts et0 and rears et-5 so now i will be putting them on the m3. Also done some work to the e46 wagon v8. I changed the mags to some Mpars. fixed a few electrical issues with the fan, ordered a oil catch to catch the oil and vapour coming from the drysump oil reservoir. replaced the steering rack with a purple tag due to the old one having quite a bit of play , new front lower control arm bushings. But long story short I said to Conrad last year whos into his drifting with his e36 sedan. I'll get my car up and ready for the next drift event that you enter if you get yours ready. This was to help him get motived to get his car up to scratch as well. So i stick to my word and after speaking to a few drifters they recommend a welded diff. There was no way in hell i was going to weld the m3 diff so managed to score a rolling body 330i sedan from Beemwr. I took the whole rear end which i will be swapping into the wagon at some point and getting the diff welded. Conrad took the front brakes for his car. So thats we are so far, once i get the wagon drivable again ill do a proper sound clip of the exhaust. Thanks Team

Hey Team So finally got the car back last Saturday from auto sparky, I knew this was the issue the day after i dropped it off. I completely forgot to add the postive wire from brake switch to the ews box. I told him to do this and it fired up. But while it was there he wired up the electric water pump and a few other little things. Over the last two weeks ive pretty much got it 98% of being completed. got the front m3 brakes all on now. Spent the most of yesterday making this Air box with Juvy. ( Him making it, me watching) So will need to take the whole car to an engineers to help fab up the intake and route it to the air box. Had to put these wheels on as the 19's tyres were rubbing on the rears. And lastly fitted to this new solid mount shifter i brought from bmspeedshop local company in NZ. So car is driveable and man shes quick, 1st and 2nd are o.k but 3rd is where it hits. also finally managed to get a stationary sound clip. The ticking sound is the dry sump pump which goes away after a few mins and the noise was 10 x lounder than the video. Enjoy team

Was a month ago now but a weeping $7 mechatronic connector O-ring required my whole DCT box to be removed in order to get to it....i guess the plus side is the gearbox got fully serviced once again so is very healthy.
