Slow progress getting it back on road. All parts arrived to be able to fully re-assemble, but noticed that there was evidence of leaking from one of the plenum oil return hoses. Being that all 3 were original 1999 date coded parts along with the radiator, hoses and fan clutch I decided to renew all of these given their age and reluctance to have to re-visit working on this engine any time soon. So another week or 2 and those parts should arrive. In the mean time i’ve fitted all new idler pulleys, new gen bmw alternator, replaced the ac pulley clutch bearing and re-installed the bank 1 upper chain cover.

I've really never found these kinds of cars interesting. I'd rather see a nice restored E30 go past. I guess that's just what I can relate with haha.

I know someone with a Yaris. They are pretty cool. Modern Evo/Sti I guess. Many lame new cars can beat e46 m3 in a straight line. Tesla model X p100d can smoke most things you can buy - I'd be embarrassed to drive one. I think most people have now realised 0-100km and 0-400m times are not really the defining measure of a car. (It did used to be - a sub 12s 0-400 was a big deal).

Changed the glow plugs on the E34 today. Pretty quick job. Though the gaskets I had were not correct so I used liquid gasket as a temporary solution. Fun times scrapping that off. Next is the leaking injector. Which is number 4. The hard one with the sensor. Diesels are fun.

Another update on the exhaust. I also added an exhaust tip into the mix...excuse the dent. It has gained 30mm or so of clearance,. but I think I can get a bit more with a few extra tweaks. I dropped it back down, and drove it around for a bit to check for leaks. Found no issues. But I'm going to make a few final changes to maximize clearance, hopefully this weekend. Up on the ramps it goes. The stainless is starting to colour in nicely. That's all, folks.

Is there any valid reason for such cars to exist ? I mean, apart from... "because we can!!!". Cheers...

I had a mishap while transporting my spare set of wheels and have dmaged one wheel beyond repair. I would be keen to buy any spare wheels people might have, or would consider full sets. Thanks.
