It would depend very much on how the emissions test is measured. Checking a car is performing as it should - original emissions levels plus a small margin is sensible, requiring a 30 year old classic to meet EU6d levels would not be.

Hi Bimmer family I recently brought this Used/ damaged M sport side skirt Panel I was wondering is this type of damage repairable from a panel beater? Or is it worth getting a new one? I went to one BMW certified body shop but was turned down because they don’t repair used parts with damages any help and advise would be helpful cheers

Where did you get the pod cover and the dash trim cover? Going on my wish list!

The o rings were flat and solid, newer ones at WP end as that was new a few years ago. Any o ring or gasket uncovered is being replaced... The spoiler is an AC Snitzer thing which was on the car when sold new it appears. It’s going and a lip spoiler boot lid going on.... eventually. Along with M5 wheels and wing mirrors.

Thanks for chipping in That setup of yours for the sensors would be like a Plan B for me if I can't get a suitable adjustable pressure switch. I'm hoping that Plan A will actually do away with the need for a gauge, as I'm not really planning to hotrod my car or track it (unless someone twists my arm). Given that when I am concentrating on my driving I don't like to take my eyes off the road, I am actually thinking that a little piezo "buzzer" might be better than a light. Nothing gets my attention faster than a strange/unexpected noise in the car !!! Having your gauges up where you can see them without looking down is the only way to go for racing. I put some down in front of the shifter on my last car and they were not particularly useful. I had to get a passenger to tell me what they were reading Cheers...

It would mean the end to performance mods.

I have experienced this exact issue, low oil pressure when tracking the car caused a spun rod bearing. I did not have any warning that it was sufferrng from low oil pressure. Kind of silly how it is just a switch rather than a proper gauge to read pressure at all times. What I ended up doing as a solution to that.

Apex wheels, and most quality cast, flow formed and forged wheels are made in China. Apex make a premium product, flow formed or forged in a wide range of sizes to fit all BMW models, its been well tried and tested. Probably best bang for buck wheel available easily in New Zealand. There are some good wheel manufacturers turning out good wheels in Italy, Ronal is a brand that springs to mind.

Also some cosmetics were played with prior to turning attention to the engine... headlights sanded, fog-light replaced, interior trim re-glued or replaced... thorough clean of interior (it was bad...)

Well this one's a doozy... there is enough crude oil on the engine / subframe etc. to cause our PM to break out in hives... The focus is on the engine - practically every gasket has turned to bakolite - the PO's attempts with RTV instead of just buying new stuff has failed miserably. The chain guides have also just been caught in time with the plastic bits loose on the backing plate... so into it... valley pan, accumulator, heater pipes before heading underneath....

So the blue pool vacuum hose turned out to be more useful as a play thing for the kids than to model up my new headers, just not flexible enough when you actually get it in place etc. All this time I had been trying to model the headers nicely at low cost but it seems those desires are mutually exclusive !! What I really wanted to use originally was the modelling kits from Ice Engine Works (https://www.icengineworks.com/) but they are just so dang expensive for a one off 😕 Take a look at their site if you have no idea what I'm babbling about and its instantly visible what an awesome approach and system this is where you want to know exactly how your headers will be built, the length and clearances etc. I figured I could design and 3D print my own version along the same concept and which match the locally available mandrel bend radius's (the US based ice kit centre line radius bends are not available here). With the price of 3D printers now it will be way cheaper, hopefully a good result and can also then use it for prototyping other items and making odd widgets as needed Onto some pics of where things are at ... made a bunch of prototypes and (semi) perfected some settings that give a nice result. This is how they will clip together, will be various length straight sections along with bend segments (doing 30 degree and 80mm CLR at the mo). The final prototype which seems to work pretty well and looks fairly good to boot !! Printer is hard at work while I sleep making 7 more bends ... hoping it does not look like a spaghetti blob monster when I wake up

Decent box of suspension parts arrived from fcp last week. All the front and rear bump stops, spring pads etc needed in preparation to refresh the shocks, struts and springs around September.

In a moment of supreme idiocy (and 'I saw it on the internet') I muffler deleted my E60 545i and the drone almost made me physically ill. 🤮

Well, after ordering them at the start of October last year I have FINALLY received the last pieces of trim to finish my 1M interior conversion, which are the gauge pod and the dash trim. I'm stoked with how it has turned out, really gives the car a bit more of a special feel than the standard aluminium trim, I think. Pics below.. Unfortunately though my headliner has now started to sag, so going to need to sort that out soon. Anyone got a recommendation on where to get that done and expected cost?

If you were actually intending on purchase then I can understand your comment. But I am just going to give you the benefit of doubt that you are not yet a parent and don’t have the capacity to grasp what this all means for me and my family. one day when you are I want you to reflect back on this post and you will realise what I am talking about. I sincerely hope also you or anyone here never experience what we are going through ... when no material possession matters or mean anything any longer and you are constantly in tears at the thought of what the most precious thing in life really is.
