115,800km Tracked down some style 68's from Weitz. The front left could do with a refurb but it's the daily so not too concerned for now. Front tyres are nothing special but pretty new. Rears might scrape through the next WOF so looking to replace these soon.

Yeah... what the Ninja said LPFP always around 70psi... jiggles up and down a bit but that is normal and to be expected. HPFP pretty much stays above 2000psi under load with the odd spike down to 1700-1800psi. Again that is fine and you don't have any leaning out as both banks are solid on 11.4 AFR when balls out In fact everything I can see looks to be pretty much in order, so the random ignition trims are a bit of a mystery. I had a look at the low load/low rpm ignition trims and there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason for them. Unfortunately your logs are not showing any knock counts or actual ignition timing, and those are the readings most relevant for seeing if you are getting det or a little bit too much timing in a few places. I'm not a tuna so there may be factors at play that I don't know about. If you have a stumble / ignition breakdown / misfire that can't be explained, the best thing would be (provided you can replicate the issue) to get the car on a dyno and have a real tuna check it out. I had an engine that had so much mechanical noise (false knock) in the same frequency as the knock sensor monitored, that knock detection was useless. It took me a long time chasing ignition issues before I realised I actually had a bit of real knock !!! Cheers...

agree, no need for 18's on an e46 touring. Technical: The advantage of 194's is 20mm additional track at the rear, and an extra half inch on the front rim plus offset, and zero rubbing/clearance issues (on standard e46 staggered msport sizes). Aesthetics: Can't argue with the Style 68's looking the best on e46, they're just right. Nice score! Never looked at the weight, I suspect that the 194's will be heavier as they're made for runflats.

Big improvement! I think 68's are the lightest 17" wheel BMW ever made.

Must be something in the air, I was following a slammed Silverstone one on SH1 this morning (hilariously sh*t picture attached). Edit: @balancerider did you take a picture 3km up the road..?

This has an exhaust from XForce whoever they are. It's all fine when cruising, not too obnoxious but it's quite something when kicked in the guts. It will be great to meet up with the others and make some comparisons. This needs new badges and grills and has black wheels which are growing on my but I'll probably be refurbed back to silver when it comes to replacing the tyres.

It's almost impossible to photograph. You can stand side on and think the car is either black, green or blue. The only way I can describe it is like a peacock feather where the colour changes on how you tilt it to the light.

Parts are incoming to do; Timing chain guides, VANOS seals, engine mounts, oil lines, CCV system, o rings, gaskets, etc. My bad in previous post, the plastic chain guides are supposed to "float" a bit on backing plate, just retained in position but not clamped on... but at 289km, all new stuff going in... In the meantime the underside is now clean, the coolant drained from the block. Getting ready to get lower timing chain cover off which involves the removal of the crankshaft "jesus" bolt... easy peasy with the right tools...

Had a replacement trunk panel show up from Denmark, it will be nice to get rid of the Jap spec panel.

Remote locking fixed. I followed this thread https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/threads/2003-e46-320d-se-tourer-remote-key-problem-fzv.73922/ and sure enough no 12V feed. Followed the cable, bit of tugging and found it was loose. Had to dissect the loom cover to access it as it had obviously broken right in the middle of it. Soldered and heat shrinked. Now 12V at the module, still no remote locking. Resynced the key and voila! Happy days.

I was genuinely surprised when moving to NZ how relatively lax the ownership laws are around anything other than pistols. Each firearm in the UK (along with quantities of ammunition) are registered against an individuals Firearms Certificate, and changes and transfers are tracked. Additionally membership to a gun club must be maintained. (for non agricultural owners, but agricultural licenses have. However in the Christchurch case something seems to have come unstuck somewhere in terms of the process. More generally, this highlights an issue with any legal licensing system, those who would pass whatever checks and don't have a history of violence etc will tend to be granted licenses. Systems that typically work well (and I think the UKs does/did) have stringent followup throughout your entire time of being licensed (spot checks on your gun storage, clubs must report lapsed memberships or even members that never attend). If you let any of the requisite conditions for licensing lapse you'll lose your license. Also I'll share my position which is usually unfathomable by those who have not owned firearms or been around them (I'm an ex British Army soldier and shot target rifle as a civvie for many many years). The TYPE of weapon is largely irrelevant to the risk it poses. This has been demonstrated numerous times worldwide and holds out in the numbers. Terms like "assault weapons" are made up terms that originated it seems from the US anti-gun lobby. It's the training that makes the difference, and in the Christchurch case there seemed to be a degree of effective training either received or self taught (?).

CMY773, tidy looking E39 Motorsport touring. Realised I don't actually see them about all that often now.
