Been there, done that, got the T-shirt (open letter). I am now in the witness protection program, living in permanent fear for the safety of myself and my family because there is someone on the other side of the planet who has watched too many batman movies that is sending me mean messages. I can't sleep without hearing the voice of bane from batman saying "I'm going to f**k your mother" and other mean things. All I can think about is what might have been if I had not banned him - I could have been smoking expensive $11 cigars and drinking expensive whiskey in a $2000 E36 while driving around the mean streets of Whangarei doing drifty-doos in the wet, disco music pumping while we talked about how many hot woman we have fornicated with. Oh how my life could have changed for the better - anyway, guess we will never know. This is a man not to be messed with, he is making such huge waves in the SC scene that they are considering changing the name to "Hyde's super duper chargers" Anyway, that was my annual BS post - back to living in fear , please dont sue me for being mean to you online.

I forgot I put a bid in on a 1983 505 STI Manual in Turners Dunedin, and now I got it. to get it to Auckland, they want $1150... I wonder if this can be done any better? The Car has the pre interior refresh interior so it looks very much closer to the 504 on the inside.

E46 325i in silver should be low maintenance, easy to find and cheap while still being pleasant to bomb around in.

I have no problem at all with people risking their lives for my entertainment. These people are helping "evolution". They are actively trying to eliminate the weak, dumb, and or unlucky

I tryed really hard to blow up a few engines in my time, hoping for them to throw a leg out of bed but they never did.

@Southerner Cam it's looking good mate! FWIW I did Sachs OEM shocks, bushes etc nearly 100k kms ago on my 2002 325i touring, kept the stock springs and 16's. It rode better, but tippy-toed around corners. Great advice from @Herbmiester and 3pedals/Bill/William.... I ended up hunting out the fattest ARBs from the BMW Lego parts catalogue, fitting with new bushes, and staggered 17" motorsport setup using e90 Style 194s. This made the car ride and handle better, without making my family uncomfortable. Handles way flatter, half of the steering wheel input required for SH1 and SH5x corners compared with stock - a big improvement. Watch for broken springs in rear, a bug-bear of e46, particularly Tourings. As the car's about to become my runaround again (it's been my wife's car for last 4.5 years), I think next year I'll give it a birthday - Koni Yellows and - most probably - Motorsport springs by Lesjofors... @adro reminded me they're available from Rockauto and it's what M539 Restorations used on his on youtube [edit] e46 Touring. ^ yeah, i did some math, and it would cost me about thirteen hundy at least to drive it back in flight, fuel, food, and 3 overnight stops. ( don't wanna push the oldie too far)

tbh $1150 aint too bad considering the distance and ferry crossing.

Bit of progress, new bosch coils (took a bit of hunting to get the fully rubber booted ones, and the replacement connectors to update cars loom to suit), and a new rocker cover, new orings and seals on everything from vanos filters to camshaft triggers. Not too far off from being ready to swap in. Rocker cover replacements actually a nice job when its not in the car

Also bonus point, no cracks on the dash! it's the right kind of 70s/80s kitsch in that green. No aircon, but I will live. (i think)

Yes, and no difference noticed. Having said that my car has a relatively loud exhaust, I wouldn't expect to hear any change in intake noise, and a very high-strung tune so I wouldn't likely feel the extra 0.0003hp.

I'm selling my trusty and much loved 550i M-Sport E61 Touring. I needed to get a 4wd for our lifestyle block and I sadly don't have space for my wagon. This is an excellent sport/family wagon that does pretty much everything well. This is a great tow car with self levelling suspension and Westfalia tow bar with both 50mm and 1-7/8 removable tongues. Serviced and maintained well under warranty for my 6 years of ownership. Asking $9900, some price flexibility for Bimmersport members. Viewing in Warkworth or North Shore by arrangement. That's some awesome work David. I remember seeing someone do a similar 3D print of tube sections with the right CLRs and specs required, thought it was a great idea. When I did my V8 E36 swap starting 10 years ago I drew up the engine bay and engine block/heads by hand to insert into a CAD program so I could work out the exhaust manifolds down to less than 1mm, they were just basic 4-2-1 types and segmented the drawings into pipe sections that could be easily cut to spec and welded, in the end it worked out to be a very accurate process and the result was spot on. A couple of pics from the archives I am currently using a similar system to make up a single turbo V8 system on another car which has been working out well so far. The 3D printing method seems like it would allow you to make complex designs with full real world accuracy mocked up on the engine. I've not played around with 3D printers yet but considering it for other projects. How long do you think it took to 3D print all the parts to make both manifolds, must have been 100s of hours total?
