2 pointsYeah ive always noticed an improvement but you do tend to flush the brake fluid at the same time. Good piece of mind regardless given the low cost.

1 pointI am now selling my NZ new E30 318, as I have purchased my next project, advertising here before I list it on Trademe I have done a substantial amount of work to this car over the last two years Heres a list, prior to my buying the car, had a reconditioned M42 motor fitted, extractors, I have replaced the complete exhaust system, upgraded the front brakes, with six cylinder calipers & vented brake discs, has new rear brake discs & pads, new rubber brakes hoses, has basket weaves with near new tyres, blue tooth stereo & new speakers, recoded drivers door lock, central locking now works, new engine mounts, gearbox mounts, colour coded mirrors, new sway bar drop links & bushes, front & rear, Monroe shocks all round, replaced chipped windscreen, I also imported, colour matched & fitted a fibreglass sunroof panel, no rust !! Have also done the speedo gears I have had the car certified for the engine upgrade & bigger brakes Has a brand new WOF & Registration Engine oil & Filter was replaced two weeks ago This car is fantastic to drive, as far as I am aware there is nothing to do to this car, get in, drive & enjoy it, like I have I am asking $15000.00 Any questions, or if you need more photos, let me know

1 pointfor sure would be good to get it checked over to make sure nothing gets damaged as a result of improper installation, I am expecting to see some increase in noise etc, as I will also be installing solid UHMW diff bushings at the same time, but will look out for any clunks etc.

1 pointYeah pretty much what im about to do but will get it re-checked after or send it away if it needs shimming. Hard to know if some of these people are ending with noises due to sub optimal specs or lack of proper checking, most people aren't likely to follow up\post if they messed it up

1 pointDamn, I wish you weren't so on the fence on this still. Tell us how you really feel Point taken, will look into it further. A bit ways down the line this still. Yeah I reckon regular OE hoses will feel much better than 20-year old rubber as well, braided lines might only make a very marginal difference for what I'm doing. Cheers

1 pointI tend to agree. In no immediate rush, I also think it’s perhaps not great timing economically to sell a car like this.
-
1 pointHave you checked in with HellBM? They fitted a Quaife LSD to their N54 130i project which I now own.
-
1 pointDamn. Unless you're in a real hurry, I'd honestly just hold out. Don't see any manuals go for less than $12-15k lately. I'd be all over it if I didn't have my hands full with the current shitbucket.
-
1 pointLiterally got just mine. $300 in tax. Took longer to process it and deliver in NZ than it took from UK to NZ. +1 KBM but it seems hes a bit busy at the moment. Shims and pre-load checking is the real barrier to the DIY route.

1 pointGreat to hear! Definately a rarer and less well known Bimmer, so good to keep it alive!

1 pointYeah post o2 sensor are just for monitoring cat health\emission related I don't think the Akebone are that bad, my whole braking system is new so that probably helps over people with old hoses etc. They just lack the feel\feedback compared to the metallics. In saying that id stick with OE as im not driving the car enough to worry about dust and prefer the OE feel. Done braided lines multiply times in the past and not really worth the premium for a normal car. Braided lines are always going to feel better coming from old original lines.

1 pointI can't remember where I bought mine from FCP, Amazon, Rockauto, Schmeidmann. ISTR around $400 at the time. If HPS are found noisy, ("terrible noise and squealing"), they didn't bed them in correctly (Read: suffering from stupidity). Have a read of my e30 project thread - I followed the Hawk Performance Bed-in procedure for the pads, and the Zimmermann bed-in procedure for my (new) rotors, and they're quiet and work brilliantly. Same with e60, except I put them on with new Genuine BMW rotors. About the Akebonos: "would not recommend" should do you. That morning that you've not applied them a few times, and then need to stop in a hurry will be your moment of regret. I'd recommend ATE or Textar and an Auto Glym wheel brush instead of the Akebonos, if you're not convinced by Hawk HPS. Amazon often have competitive pricing on Hawk HPS.

1 pointBut how can they monetise your data if you refuse to click "accept all" on their spurious data protection security measures? You'll become a social nobody! Oh noes!
