Took it for a blat up to Kai Iwi, via every fun looking B road I could find on google maps.... trying to clock up the magic 300,000km... (and coincidentally have had the 130i for 7 years this week, I dont see myself ever selling it ) Big stupid grin, in between the pot holes. Tyres are absolutely epic, its absurd how quickly can take corners, and the whole thing feels balanced and cohesive at the limit, from the power to the gear ratios, to the grip levels. Dead keen to try it on a track, be curious to see how the Bird B1 setup works, some say its a bit soft for track work, but damn does it work on NZ roads/goattracks.

Long history with this one. Pretty sure a couple of BS members also owned this, I knew of one through family. It was last on the market Sept 2021

    “2”. It’s a typo at registration time, ie M325i/2
  8. 1 point
It designates that the person at the AA that entered the registration details mistook the “/2” for a 2-door coupe as a “Z”

Quick shout out to FCPEuro, they arent always the cheapest (sometimes they are) but their service is nearly unbeatable. Back in December I ordered a new Mahle radiator for the 130i, for the impending engine swap (when I eventually get the time to do it!). I opened up the radiator box last month, found it had been bent in shipping. 6 months after I bought it and the damage had been done. Emailed FCPEuro and explained what had happened, they said sweet as sh*t happens - send it back and will sort it. I said, it's not going to be cheap to send a radiator from New Zealand to the US.. their response was sweet as we got the shipping costs. So I ordered a new Mahle radiator and they had stock issues, so got sent a brand new genuine BMW one. Legends. (Also finally got hold of a SMF Valeo clutch kit)

It's a nice car, I probably understand a bit. Here is my opinion about it (just opinion, yours will vary). - if you are still enjoying the car even just used once a week/month. AND you don't need the money. AND not expecting it to appreciate. Just keep on enjoying it. - if you are not enjoying it. AND need the money OR can use the money for something you would enjoy more. Sell it to the price you want it. - cars are generally bad investments, but some get lucky My background on the my opinion above. We bought a R34 GTT Skyline long time ago (almost 2 decades ago), I really liked it a lot. I tried to sell it several times (3 times), my wife knew that I enjoyed it a lot so she discouraged me to sell it on those times. Fast forward about 2022, we are not using the car too much... have definitely enjoyed the car through the years and my wife is not doing well health wise. We decided to sell it, luckily the value has appreciated 2x our purchase price. Actually a dealer bought it sight unseen, just photos and seemed they have sold in quickly for a better price (that is ok, we wanted a hassle free transaction as we didn't have time on our hands to do private sale). So for our M5 we are less attached to it, I tried to sell it (1 time already). My wife said to just keep it and enjoy it, so I guess we will follow the same route as the Skyline. Enjoy it while I can, then when we can't or need the money we will sell it.

Few swipes with a file, will need a few more once I've beaten the heat shield into a new shape.

Unusual combo for sure for definitely a selling point as plenty of choice at the moment for DCT comp cars. Certainly appeal to the die hard manual fans as none for sale. In terms of value it’s a bit hard to tell. I’ve had my e46 m3 for a decade and in that time the value dropped by half in the first 4. Years , stayed around the same for another three and had almost come back to my original purchase price in the last two. Good luck with what you decide. Either way a really nice car to have owned.

Its one of those weird cases where its a rare car being M4Comp + Manual so in theory should hold value well but at the same times there is a smaller market of people who are looking for a manual so might just take time to find the right buyer. If you dont really need it then doesnt hurt to put up a listing with a price and gauge interest. It may take a week or may take 6 months. Until then its got a spot in the garage.

Welcome and nice car! I don't really have the answers you're looking for but the car will continue to decrease in value for quite some time, how quickly I couldn't tell you. On that basis, if you're not using it your simply burning money, on the other hand, if you get a great deal of value (enjoyment) from it when you do drive it then any loss might be acceptable to you. Purely from a subjective standpoint, if I had it, and didn't need the money or care about depreciation, I'd keep it just to have it in my garage!

Halo ring bulb replacement on (my former) E91 that I'm titivating - this job is an absolute PIA, with thanks to Jon @Spinner99. Wheel off / liner off / light cover off then dremeling a hole in the bulb housing as they'd made it one time use from the factory. Great to get rid of the dreaded exclamation mark of doom from the dash though...useful PDF guide attached if anyone else needs to tackle this one. E90 Halo Change 3.pdf
