This is a great run - go earlyish on a Sunday (7-730) and should barely see a soul: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Bp+Connect+Bombay+216+Mill+Road,+Bombay+2675/-37.3095384,174.950796/Glen+Murray/Naike/Huntly+Power+Station+Te+Ohaki+Road,+Huntly/@-37.3704054,174.9049307,11z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m27!4m26!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d0d4d40d679478b:0xb34a9b0d875289a9!2m2!1d174.9813202!2d-37.193165!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d12b4d944d2d029:0x500ef6143a2c9f0!2m2!1d174.9651017!2d-37.4437363!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d6d4ab1dc1497dd:0x500ef6143a2cb10!2m2!1d174.9556069!2d-37.5146918!1m5!1m1!1s0x6d6d3886891ca36b:0x9d6d803fb86339e8!2m2!1d175.1515218!2d-37.5445082!3e0 Basically Bombay to Huntly via Highway 22 backroads, then turn around and come back the way you came. Checked the 80-120 acceleration measurement is working, the display is just hanging out in the glovebox for now. Will look to right align the metrics and change colour based on value or something later I think ... loads of tinkering one can do in that space !!

Hi all I was wondering whether anyone is considering the new iX1? The reviews sound pretty good and I think it looks fantastic for a small SUV. 300BHP as well which isn't must less than my admittedly much lighter M135i.

Thought I’d start abit of a build thread for my 635csi that’s well and truely underway

speaking of low entry price race cars.... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/130i/listing/3916085934?bof=18mMKlsm bit rough but if you were going that route...

Awesome @Eagle I'd be super keen to hear ... i was super close to getting one in their Black Friday sales recently !! Thanks for the route @Sammo, once we get past the Christmas and new year period and I can hopefully / finally relax a little I'd love to take a spin (with tool box in boot) Been thinking I should catch up with you as the resident super beautiful interior consultant to set some direction also hah ... reminded every time i look over at my sagging window trim and rear panel fabric flapping around since an old workmate jumped in the back the other week.

^Cheers! That would make it on sale for $30k circa 97 and then $7k roughly middle 2010’s if memory serves me correct. Probably not that much of a bargain then haha. still reckon it would be a fun car to have , conditional on replacing the wheels and rest of the ugly standard stuff 🤣

Guessing it must be the same one judging by the sticker on the rear window. Anyone know when it was last for sale?

Hope to get it started over the holidays and then move on to getting it moving itself. my next major headache is getting it to stop, I have next to no firewall space and I’m considering mounting a willwood pedal box with the master cylinders mounted in the cabin, anyone whose done this to a road driven car- I’d love some advice. Some more random pictures and a picture of my motivation for this build (yes it’s low- will be converting the BC Coilovers to air suspension)

And this is where I’m currently at, -engine mounted -gearbox mounted -driveshaft made -all exhaust/turbo made to downpipe -fuel pump mounted, new fuel lines made and plumbed -radiator mounted and plumbed -intercooler mounted and piping fabricated -wiring all hooked up-minus afew sensors -BC Coilovers welded up I will make more of an effort to take more photos and post more of my progress if there is any interest. ive still got loads of work to get this done and would appreciate any advice/help.

Not really uncommon, particularly on the pre-FL cars, not really a loss either as wasnt even very good when new and just dates cars when ages, may not have even been an option on the early kiwi cars. NZ 130s being lower speced than japanese is nonsense There are literally only 32 of them, 13 manuals, most got xenons etc. The only true poverty pack one Ive seen is one thats now a race car, was a red 2005, looked to be first one in the country - Manual/Non M/Halogen lights/no options etc... kinda gave the impression it was imported to be a race car.

I used to have a facelift 525i factory manual for my Mrs... that @Young Thrash Driver adopted after me. It's still my avatar pic, in fact 😁

When my starter motor recently failed I gave it a whack with the hammer, it then went from not doing anything to making a whirring noise and smelling like burning.
