Sold the 25 mm spacers that I had on my Maserati. The guy got them and asked if the smaller ones should go on the front or the back. Whaaat? I exclaimed. I've just found out that the spacers I was running for quite some time were 22mm and 25mm not 25mm all round as I had assumed. I can't believe I f**ked that up and it explains why it's handling was all over the place, it probably had a different offset on the same axle or the same offset one side. I lost a lot of sleep trying to figure out what was causing it to handle like a greased weasel.

Hello fellow Bimmersporters. Up for sale is my daily commuter. I have not had it long but I have had the opportunity to purchase another Diesel BMW (WHICH I LOVE) so up for sale it goes. It's a Jap import and very fun to ride with some good power and features such as ABS and Electronically adjustable suspension etc. 163hp and a zero to 100 time of 2.6 seconds so you could say she's a lot of fun. These bikes are super reliable and the engines do very very high mileage which is why the mileage, at 70k did not put me off buying this. I have literally used it 3 times and serviced it and thanks to our lovely weather, it has sat as an ornament. Hopefully some of our Bimmersporters are fellow 2 wheel enthuisiasts and would be interested in taking this off my hands. I have priced this to sell (at a loss to me) as I need to recover some funds that are going towards the payment of my new daily (F30 320d M Sport). Viewing is in Glenfield. Test rides with proof of funds and full license. In comparison there is one other on trademe for $8300 and the last one sold for 9k which was in immaculate condition. I am after $6800 firm (paid $8k from a dealer for it) Contact me on 02102916373 to view Kind regards SJ $6800 firm trademe link here : https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/listing/4392229555?bof=adVg1cPs

As we're always making it easier for our customers - we've compiled a "quick reference guide' of our SKU numbers for members - focusing on earlier, mostly E30 Parts we can supply. This can make things easier for members when calling us, or emailing us about parts. As always, 15% discount applies to Bimmersport members (mention 'Bimmersport' when enquiring!) It can be downloaded from our website link, below: https://www.euroitalianparts.com/e30-bmw-classic

Looking for a set of springs for my 2007 E86 Z4 Coupe. Rear right has snapped as they seem to do, so looking for a stop gap measure until I can get my hands on a complete upgrade.

Feel you. It's slimy. People will defend them saying they don't know the price, and that Tender/auction etc. is price discovery. Any agent worth their salt should know the market and know the price, they're just trying to get punters to accidentally overpay. Sadly, the pendulum is swinging back, and you can only get something half-decent by throwing unreasonable money at it. One of my most liberating moments was when our offer got accepted, and I could delete all the real estate apps and unsubscribe from the 100 mailing lists I ended up on. Thank god. New place has a garage too, so I'll be able to do some sh*t myself instead of paying for expensive labour and NZ-sourced (overpriced like everything else we end up with down here) parts.

I've just had a large part of my E55 resprayed by a friend who runs a panel shop. It is black. It was very difficult to match the paint. If they had gone by the code it would not have looked good at all. It took a bit of effort to get the hood which is alloy to match the bumper which is plastic (they meet in a number of spots on an E55). The painter can still see a mismatch but I can't anymore.

They are Hamilton based. They tow cars on car trailers with it. To go further into the conspiracy, I would bet they got it from Rotorua Ford, the family's that own that business are massive BMW fans, in fact they used to sell them. I fully support where you are coming from, I am president of the Ranger hatters Facebook group, I hate all Utes with a passion and trolling them is actually a hobby of mine.

Ah sorry must of got mixed up with Sachs. I find B6's too harsh in general for our roads, running them and firmer springs would ruin this car i reckon. Koni are decent but a bit overpriced for what they are, suppose you can adjust dampening somewhat to compensate for wear and a plus, but rebuilding them here cost the same as new ones overseas which always annoyed me. B4's cost me $780 NZD from Spareto. Bilstein\Koni's are around $~1500 landed iirc The rear's have settled in nicely with ride quality and handling restored. Got new fronts coming so will see how long this set last for this time without excessive speed bumps and more open road. They are still very usable compared to what on the average NZ older car, they just out of their optimal performance range. As ive been preaching for years only replacing one axle always shows up the weaker one. @hunter is running Genuine OE Sachs on his E39, i have no doubt they will outlast most offerings on the market. No doubt they have better\more consistent performance too compared to aftermarket Sachs which arent known to last long either.

So I know this is a long shot, but looking for a Getrag 420g for an E39 540. Ideally a complete “conversion kit” however happy to begin the process of collecting the parts. I am aware these are a sort after gearbox, and potentially a waiting list for them etc. Failing that, has anyone here had experience purchasing this type of thing out of the US? Seems to be a few available on eBay etc. Any advice appreseated👍

All colours change over time, and blacks perhaps more than most. If you have a good paint depth on the rest of the car then you might find a deep cut with the right pads and compounds will bring your old paintwork back to what it looked like new, and therefore closer to the newly resprayed parts.

Stayed up past midnight last night throwing on the new wheels and putting the interior together. Involved a lot of backwards & forwards, detaching and reinstalling trim bits and sound deadening as they go back in a particular order, under-overlapping in a certain way or using a single fastener to fix several pieces in place, like an intricate puzzle. Even remembered to torque down the wheels properly this time... Then filled the tank and dropped it off at BMW for the alignment. I had asked what they charge for an alignment when I called to book in the appointment the day before - $125 including GST. So I was slightly taken aback when a few hours later I got a text telling me the car is ready for pickup and that the total comes to $322.90... 2.5 hours of labour. Would have assumed the adjustable camber arms and the fact that all the parts were literally brand new and not seized on would have made the task easier but... what do I know. At least I got some unsolicited tyre shine and a couple of tins of mints out of it though Took the car for a quick shakedown up Dyers Pass, through Lyttleton and along Sumner Road, then a detour onto the motorway on the way home to try her out at 100kph. Honestly... I must've been driving absolute shitbuckets my whole life as I never knew a car is supposed to behave this way. I've grown so accustomed to tramlining, vague steering, rattles, clunks and an otherwise shaky ride that it's super weird not having any of it anymore. One or a few of the wheel bearings must have been cooked as I used to have a slight vibration doing close to 100kps that I had attributed to an unbalanced driveshaft but no signs of the issue anymore. Steering is sharp and tracking perfectly straight, sections of road that had previously been shaky are now perfectly smooth, ride height looks and feels a tad sportier but still gets in and out of driveways & parking lots without issues. An absolute dream. Mission accomplished. Only small issue I've encountered is some slight rubbing going over bumps at speed seemingly only coming from the rear left so I might have to give the camber arms a few more turns. The wheels were the one component I'd been most excited about. Great to finally throw them on after gathering dust in the corner of the garage for well over a year. Style 193's are up there with my absolute favourite BMW wheel styles and they just suit the chassis so well in my opinion. Absolutely in love with them. Even going up to 18" from the old 17" 194's, with the new shocks and fresh rubber the ride comfort is miles better than it was before. The engine feels great, power delivery is nice and smooth and more is always there when you need it. One downer in all of this is that my excursion behind the timing cover did not fix the startup rattle issue. My last remaining hypothesis is that the needle bearings in the VANOS units got tightened up excessively when I was putting in the anti-rattle rings and aren't able to rotate quite freely as the rattle seems to be coming from the top end of the engine. A while ago I lifted a whole VANOS unit off a 2006 X3 that I'll reseal and throw on at some point. Went through 3 cars at Pick-A-Part until I found a unit with no visible scoring marks in the cylinder bores... I suspect if the cylinders I have in the car now have seized up then they would have done damage to the bores so best throw in a fresher looking unit. If that still doesn't fix it then I guess I'll just live with it. Feels so good finally dragging this mission (mostly) over the line and being able to enjoy the fruits of the labour (and get some sleep at last). Will tally up the rough cost of all that's been done at some point, will make for some grim reading for sure. Time to properly enjoy some road trips now.

Finally fixed my odometer gears and gave the cluster a mini tart up while I was at it with a polished cover and an Mtechnic tachometer gauge face. Kept it subtle and resisted the urge to paint the needles red 😂 Tried matte black cluster rings (2nd pic) but decided against them. Also had some new SI board batteries and capacitors but it all looked good and my soldering isn’t great so decided to not mess with it unnecessarily. Also troubleshooting a pesky ABS light, right before WOF time… does not appear to be sensors and the relays ‘look’ as good as new 🤔

Johnny mechanic is likely trying to pay a 5k a month lease on his 300sqm building and a 5k a month mortgage on the 300sqm house in South Auckland that his wife thought was a good idea in 2021. There is a reason everything is "overpriced", people are literally trying to pay off property that cost them double what its actually worth at double the interest rate they took at the time. I have seen people paying down like $20 a month principle at the moment, that's depressing if you consider we are still a few years in this. The shop next to ours charges $13 for a bubble tea and they are still falling short to pay the lease on their porta-lo sized shop, its not a easy time to be in business unless your business revolves around being 60 years old and owning properties.
