A neighbour in my new place parking garage - nice E34 540i on Schnitzers. Also a series 1 RX7 with a great pulse that gets plenty of use.

The CSL secondary air rail and SMG reservoir were waiting for me when I got home from work this afternoon. I took the opportunity of having 1 out of 2 children with the grandparents and made a start on... CAD Project 2: Adapter for Bosch *101 MAP sensor With the air rail and sensor now in hand I was able to check the fit and measure up: I was aware that you either have to trim the nozzle or stand off the sensor and that's fine, but I wasn't prepared for this: Now in practice this probably won't matter too much, but it's not as good a fit as I expected. Also as I had read elsewhere the o-ring will need to be replaced for a correctly fitting item. It's far too loose in this application. If people are buying this sensor and just chucking it on it's not going to be a good seal/fit, there's work to do to make this fit decently. So I decided to get on with it and draw up the stand-off plate + second mounting point. For reference here are a couple of close-ups of the mounting point on the rail. And here's some close-ups of the sensor: And this is the stand-off that we need to account for: It measures in slightly more than 1.5mm but I'm going to make the standoff 2.5mm thick to allow a little wiggle room. I knocked this up and have sent it off to Dad to have a first prototype printed for fitment checks: I'll report back on this when I have the prototype in hand. I expect there will be fine-tuning adjustments to make.

haha Missed this as I was in the UK! I did this car about 5 years ago! Motor was rebuilt by the magicians at HellBM a while back but was barely driven, I just did the seals and timing belt, waterpump etc as it had been sitting for a while, old owner of the touring originally had a 260 box behind it but the centre hanger bearing crapped out whilst driving and shattered his gearbox casing when the driveshaft came loose, he opted to find a 240 box and shaft to replace it as the 260 boxes were too expensive. The car was good, few rust patches here and there but the engine and drivetrain was good. I opened up the sump on the motor and inspected bearings and opened up the top end and did the valve clearances etc. It was a very solidly built engine from what I remember. This is going back a good 5 years ago now

I pulled an M44 from the scrapyard with 90,000km on it. It's mint inside, doesn't need a rebuild at all. But my Dad is keen on a project so has been refreshing it for his E36 318is. A bit unrelated to the rest of the thread but we took the disassembled motor to my Dad's friend from when he raced porsches. He used to build the porsche race motors, but more crucially he also built the super tourer S42s, S14s along with many M42/44. I noticed these nice looking boxes in his garage while we were there. Full set of S42 pistons, rods, cams, bunch of other parts too. Porsche 962

Great display from BMW Car Club Northland at the Waipu Car Show today. That E39 B10 and E28 M6 were so perfect! Out of approx 1000 cars, Euros were well in the minority. Love looking at that American muscle car stuff, but not sure I’d want to own one. Might give the old 540I a wash and enter it next year, just for show parking🤣
