It 's the little things that you want even think of that will trip you up. Their are a number of differences on a conversion of this nature Vehicles New Zealand new or Japanese imports Wiring for auto to manaul and you mention Zf different again, vent piping eml different diameters, A/c left side for the N42,46 right side for the M54 pipe work change over, wiring lengthen and re-route,care of the connector on the a/c pump they brake real easy. Ignition key an barrel all door locks etc check to see if remote access is inferred or radio on both vehicles Heater control valves, system auto or manual type Exhaust, pipe diameter mounting points. mufflers These are a few things that come to mind. It makes for a great project hope you keep a record and let us all share.Plenty of info and people Ray and Brent who have practical experience an can help out best of luck

The stupidest part of all of this, is the NZ vendors pushing for removing the $400 import limit so GST is charged on everything, as if 15% additional cost will make any difference, if the price difference is 15% -20% most people will buy locally for immediacy already.

I'll go check it out if I have time before it closes. I suspect this is the one that's been on the side of the road for a month or so out in edgeware(ish), the guy wanted $1950 but it never sold there, he might have needed the cash post haste so Turners picked it up for $1400 or less maybe.

Yeah, i know its a nice car, in great condition.... but it'd be hard to convince me to buy that over an E46 M3 for the same money. The KM will put a lot of people off buying it as a collector and its too much money to use and enjoy.

Before I commit to the project, is there anything I should be aware of from a wiring perspective for an E46 318i N42B20 to M54B30 conversion? I'm aware that I'll need ECU and DME so will line all that up from the M54 donor. TIA

Without the potential for high servicing cost... probably will also have better increase in value.

Cheers, Ill definitely be along to one of the next meets. Tackled my first non-"basic car wash" job last night. Removed some glue residue on the boot lid left over from some Japanese TV aerials... TV in a Car, (got it in the mazda too) cant be a good idea, Shirley!
