These guys are on trademe, called parts-nz in Canterbury. Enquired on Sunday the brand/manufacturer of this thermo https://www.trademe.co.nz/2411021523 Checked back tonight in case I missed their reply. Must have touched a nerve because they have deleted my question and blocked me! Obviously, I wouldn't recommend sending business to places that treat their customers like this. Cheers

To be clear: I'd buy an commercially available off-the-shelf specialist system from someone like magnaflow, borla, remus, supersprint, eisenmann et al. And you can get some idea of how they'll sound from Youtube clips. I think the custom-made thing is a crap-shoot, you can't really predict what you'll get. HTH

I found "listing withdrawn by seller". My point of view differs slightly from yours, Kyu. I'm buying, and I want to know what brand they are selling me. I make my own value judgement on whether it's a reasonable price. We don't rock up to the supermarket for a packet of peas, and get given their choice of plain-pack per; we have a choice and if we prefer McKain or Watties, we choose for ourselves. We can choose to buy from eBay, or the local BMW dealer, or even Aliexpress. This vendor's behaviour is more likely to drive those behaviours, IMHO. Who's to say the vendor wasn't selling OEM? We don't know, as he won't respond to anyone. I'd not buy from anyone evasive of the origin of their wares.

+1 for speedfactor, I got my koni sport shocks and Sachs clutch kit off Speed and they were brilliant to deal with.

Actually Speed (Factor) NZ in Tauranga seem to be the real deal... I've had BMW stuff and a good friend has had Porsche stuff through them and it's all been legit for good value. I've heard they tap into some Asian genuine dealers and parallel import but that's not official info. They do offer a local RTB warranty exchange which is worth gold for valuable parts.

Being blocked by them actually seems like an ideal outcome... Thanks for the heads-up.

Seriously, does anyone want these? Reserve is $35. https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2419792270&ed=true

I'd be going for stock, or a reputable zorst as per Kyu's list above. I've experienced the 'get a local exhaust specialist to build one' (that turned out bloody noisy, a little quieter, and then choked), and seen many others take this approach with a variety of quality, and usually the kind of noise they weren't hoping for. I've also experienced buying a full cat-back system from a specialist that sold them commercially, and was very happy with the fit and finish, and the sound to boot. More predictable results with the off-the-shelf system made for your car by a reputable manufacturer. HTH

What i normally do with a smaller boot car is put two wheels in the back seat lying flat, one on top and one in the boot. @Olaf it wouldnt be a problem one way or another. Just make sure to carry some tarp/blanket to save the seats. btw, i dont really have a collection of wheels anymore like i used to. Haha. These particular ones are currently on our compact but i have a spare set of 18s i can chuck on it

Treated myself too, found some second hand mtech sills for my 335i in great condition from dismantler. Old ones were scratched and rubberery part was hardened and cracked - still have them so I peeled of the soft lip down to the hard black plastic... Doesn't actually look half bad

    I got 8 15" tyres into our E30 coupe. Actually it was 4 15” and 4 17”.

I have a mental image of Kyu opening his greatcoat to reveal... all the wheels you ever wanted! ? @allan there'll be a bunch of e30-heads coming down from Auckland to NPL this Friday for e30 Mega Meet, perhaps Kyu - with his extensive network - can find someone coming down with a little space? I'd be happy to take delivery of them in New Plymouth for you and bring them down to you in Foxton on my way back to Welly on Sunday, if that helps. edit: hmm rims with tyres. @qube would the two rears go in my back seat (e30 coupe), and two fronts in the boot?

Meyle gear *can* be good; the Meyle HD stuff is usually worthwhile as they've improved spec over any particular failure-prone kit. Plain-old Meyle, I've stopped buying after some failures across different parts/vehicles in my fleet. EDIT: note I've never used Meyle brake rotors or pads. Genuine: have you tried Winger for parts pricing? I've heard their genuine parts prices for brakes are pretty reasonable. Don't discount before contacting them for a price! Time to ship? It'll only take you a week to get your gear from FCP, if you specify FedEx. About 5 days from Mick's Garage in Ireland via DHL. Schmiedmann are usually fast, though you have to be lucky that they're not on another national holiday! FCP: If you were bringing in kit from FCP, you're looking at around USD200 for freight for four rotors and pads. Given your Zimmermann sport rotors with Jurid (OEM) pads come in under USD400; take exchange rate and GST into account and you're looking at about NZD1100. Mick's Garage: If you're looking for the low price, www.micksgarage.com will be very competitive. Perhaps Textar pads front and rear (OEM), Mintex rotors (front), Textar rotors (rear), freight included: NZD571.12! Sorry they didn't have ATE, and the best could do on front rotors was Mintex. EDIT: OMG, if you ordered pronto, you'll get their BLACK15 15% discount code, bringing it down to NZD520.38, plus any taxes here. Blimey. Schmiedmann... (Hella) Pagid front rotors EUR172 for the pair (I'd be happy with Pagid), (Hella) Pagid front rotors EUR69.69 for the pair; Hella Pagid front pads EUR41.66, front Hella Pagid pads EUR25.41. ... but freight might be a tiny bit costly at EUR500. How is it that Mick's Garage can freight the same gear from Ireland for free?! I'd be putting Hawk HPS pads on, and considering Genuine rotors, or Zimmermanns (having good experience with both of these), or possibly Stop Tech rotors (I've run these on my e46 since 2013). HTH.

What are you looking for in an exhaust? Is it mostly the noise, or the performance? If its just looks, you could just get a new backbox and tips.

magnaflow, borla, remus, supersprint, eisenmann, all depends on how much some $ is

Exhaust manifold swap on the X5....... found a few issues, namely 5 cracks in the manifold, evidence of the gasket around #4 cylinder leaking at the head (suspect warped manifold), downpipe from turbo wasn't tight at all (I could easily rotate it by hand), and the turbo support bracket - well think that was just there for decoration.......... So new manifold on, every exhaust component got checked (and anti-siezed), new manifold and gaskets installed. Hopefully no more diesel fumes......... And that's one thing on the list of repairs done so far (changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, driver's door handle etc.), still got thermostat and CCV filter to do. Was hoping to do the thermostat today while everything was apart but the weather started to turn.
