Is there a way, without flashing anything, to have my car default to DTC mode (rather than DSC mode) when I start it?
-
In some circumstances you're right. Don't get me wrong, the RS4 is my favourite of all time wagon, it's just not a great alternative to an e36 M3, if that's the experience you're looking for. You own or buy an old M3 these days for it's character, handling, weight and feedback, not for its speed.

Love the article... "This is pants-on-head moronic." ? Another example of why BaT is just a massive wankfest. The site owners have created a miracle and are seriously lining their pockets but it can't last long. Anybody that uses that site as a serious price reference is deluded. Who's Max Fletcher that we should be concerned enough about to avoid?

But the price says "I won't be sold quickly, if ever". NZ new, LHD, 1 owner, 38k kms but $180k! ? Pretty sure the only place this will sell at that price is the US. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m3/listing/2648001238

$1 reserve, 5 day auction. Looks reasonably clean and unmolested, interesting to see what the market thinks. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2711232511

It doesn't take much to make these cars ride a lot better and since the rear is terrible compared to the front (stock) then you should be in for a pleasant surprise.

I'm almost interested in asking for a test drive... and rocking up in mine. "So, are they reliable cars?" ??

RS4's are epic, and if anyone wants a B5 I know one for off-market sale. They're quick and fast but you can't compare them to an e36 M3, they're a full 200 kg's heavier and nowhere near (like different side of the planet) as nimble.

Spotted M Toy at GT Refinishers yesterday when I popped in, looking sharp as always.

@Cammsport? It doesn't satisfy your mileage requirement but might tick enough boxes... Edit: I don't see that colour around often and quite like it.
-
That's quite interesting, I've thought mine runs unusually low (~90C) even when driven hard, will have to have dive it slowly for a while ? to see if it warms up more!

I'm not sure I understand... did they tell you that you have to pay specifically for fitting? Their website claims not and I've never paid for them to fit or balance mine.... seems odd. But regardless, sub $150 a corner for quality Goodyears is still excellent value (for NZ).

Good call. I've been running F1's for years on my M3 and have no complaints.
-
Good to know. Thanks for taking one for the team, shitty that you had to go through that.

Bump. Offers accepted.
-
Bump. Offers before Trademe. Will spruce up any BMW auto (possibly others) and are functional because they're high grip.

Believe it or not that SMG badge was standard up until about '03 when BMW realised how stupid it looks. If they're genuine CSL wheels (probably not) they're worth a lot, but not $30k.
-
The museum piece might be worth that. The car isn't.
-
Yes, but I have the baked in non-sub app so it costs me nothing more. I've coded heaps of stuff, hasn't blown up my FRM (yet!). It's obscenely overpriced on subscription, avoid. But if you're passing through Aucks I can plug in for you.

Mine? No, it wasn't meant to read that way. IMHO: 245/225 is a viable, if not optimal, setup. 235 square is the alternative, no other combos. Separately, one has more options with 235/45 v's 235/40 these days so worth considering. That's all. ?
-
Sold pending payment. $500, happy with that.
-
Bump before Trademe. Edit: negotiable on price because it's trash to me.

You may already know this Paul but in case you don't... Stock e36 square (7.5") setup (3.0) is 4 x 235/40ZR17 Stock e36 staggered (7.5" + 8.5") setup (3.2) is 2 x 225/45ZR17s (front) and 2 x 245/40ZR17s (rear) The maximum recommended tyre width for a 7.5" rim is 235mm but you can stretch 245's on. This means you can open your options up by going for the staggered setup above on square wheels. I would prefer that to a square 245 setup because I would suggest a 245 is too wide at the front for an e36 M3. The other option, since you only need two new tyres is to consider bumping the profile of the 235's up to 45 because there are a lot more 235/45/17 options out there than for 40's. They'll fit just fine but you'll have a taller sidewall. Also, in my very subjective and humble opinion, all RWD sports cars should run a staggered setup. ?

As a matter of interest, what bulbs did you use Nick?
