other than LSD what driveline difference does the e30 M325i have? I'm pretty sure all the motorsport versions only add wheels, bodykit, steering wheel, seats, trim, suspension, hoodlining, and maybe badges be it E36 328 Msport, E39 Msport, or E30 M325i

Cheers MoF I'll give Hutt City a shot

My e39 breifly through the check engine light and ran a bit rough, havent seen it in a couple of days but would still like to get it checked out. Page would be my first choice but long hours working in the hutt make that a bit tricky. Who's a decent crowd in the hutt to scan it? There was a thread waaaay back that had a list of various parts suppliers and service places, anyone know where that went too?

as far as I'm aware there is no bolt on upgrade for E30's. Its either upgrade standard components, build your own kit consisting of various manufacturers components modified to fit (eg audio tt rotors and 5 series calipers) or do it properly and get a wilwood/brembo etc kit. again either from a package like massive or something you put together yourself.

which is why I brought a 540i, I could afford the E34 M5 upfront, but not to fix it. (I have a mechanical warranty for those thinking a 540i wont be much cheaper)
-
bugger. so whats the solution for LSD in E39 540i? E39 M5 diff? Quaiffe? Car is a bit of a disapointment in that repsect, DSC is such a kill joy but single spinning isnt much fun either
-
I've read that too, that the MSports have a 3.15 diff. I have a feeling that might just be the US market cars though. Do E39 diffs have the same tags on them with the ratio that the E30's do. If so I'll jack mine up sometime and take a look.

might want to state which model car...

I'd like to think that we dont. It works both ways, our suppliers often let us down but are also willing to help us out whenever they can. Swings and roundabouts. Often we'll change our plans (as long as we aren't out of pocket) if it can help them out, particularly the ones that look after us.

Welcome to the forum, but I've gone and pulled your pics down because they were huge. resize them some something like 800x600 and repost them, I'm sure the other members would love to see them but in a more reasonable size

Massive thanks again Glenn for helping me sort that windscreen wiper in the pouring rain. Was terrified I'd have to pull apart the dashboard or engine bay to sort it, was luckily only one nut that was loose.

exactly what I was thinking, particularly after that last of pictures that he's put up with the apartment blocks

I'm sure that car used to belong to a member way back who actually did the turbo. if so it was actually running LEM. I cant think why someone would remove it, so its probably still there along withe bigger injectors and fuel reg. Car has probably been through a few hands since the guy who built it so people wont be exactly sure on what they have

woah, my 2000 540i Msport (not worth as much as yours) is around the $650 or $700 mark for full insurance and glass cover etc. And thats for a 23 y/o driver. Do premiums start going up again as you get older (no offence meant)

Wise man.

Dont worry it is. Hmmm, didnt know those connectors were that dodgy. Whats the preference over cutting and crimping, or soldering and heat shrinking for tapping into existing wire?
-
normal AA's are useless i agree but get a decent set of rechargables and they're fine. have you been using normal energizer throwaways or proper lithium camera batteries?
-
I'd say the opposite, much prefer having AA's. I've got a set of eneloop rechargables and they're awesome. If they do run out and I dont have charger with me I can buy some normal AA's to replace them, cant do that with camera with odd shaped rechargables
-
Just saw this - I agree, 190kW more than enough to misbehave in a well setup e30, smaller turbo way to go too. I'd probably do something like this if I get an e30 again. That or a supercharged M52B28 if I wanted more of an everyday car
-
wash your mouth out! seriously though, they are pretty bad around town (I'm getting anything from 12-16L/100km around town depending on how I drive it but its wicked on the open road for overtaking or hills, especially if you've often got a few people in the car and on the open road a fair bit

Bugger. I've been through similar issues when building my turbo too, didnt have a bonnet fly up but stupid things still went wrong and cost money. That exhaust does look good, not as hard as some people think if your lucky enough to have access to all the gear. I also know the grief with insurance you have, 20 and turbocharged BMW is just as bad. Got them down to $600 for the 540i which is completely stock so $700 for a modified car is pretty good. Buggers tried to decline when I called up the 2nd time to confirm, just lucky they had the quote saved.

both fit but front is actually smaller than E30 325i sway bar. M3 has different linkage system to make better use of the bar
-
Thanks again for the comments guys. Went to get a spare key so got the print out and it does have Msport II suspension. Its also got the telephone wiring in it so I can add bluetooth later on if I want Will do, would like to discuss a few other upgrades also. Cheers

Got around to putting the amp and sub into the E39 today. Power was easy enough with the battery being in the boot but I'm not sure that the signal input is ok. I simply cut into the rear speaker inputs from the H/U to factory amp (I left the factory stuff all working) and wired some RCA plugs onto the end and ran it to the amp. It all sounds and works fine but I'd just like to double check that I'm not likely to damage any of the factory stuff? I was thinking about upgrading the rest of the factory stuff but I might just chuck some new mids and tweeters in the fronts and leave it at that. Not such a fan of that box either, I'd like to pull the sat nav gear out the way and mount something off the roof of the boot. Lastly - what are the 2 modules on either side of the sub-box? Cheers
