    Quick pics - New Toy

Thanks for the comments guys, pretty stoked with it. Just a few minor issues to sort and it should be all good. Pretty much why I was after one, real nice combo of looks/handling/comfort. Not too sure I could do any better if i started messing with it. I dont think it does, its a 2000 model. when were world tuners brought out? I've asked Ray to price me up a NZ tuner. Sam - I was planning on bringing it to Auckland but someones scored free use of a company car, others are pretty keen to make most of free gas so cant argue with that Martyn - so... when are we test fitting the 18's?
  4. Finally saw the light and flicked off the pos telstar I was rocking round in and picked up this instead: Reasonable option list(?), full motorsport package, (black headlining, shadowlined, badges and sills, sports seats, steering wheel, rims.) Only thing I need to confirm is the M-suspension. Has 16:9 screen, jap nav system, rear blinds, memory seats, rain sensing wipers, auto-dim rear view mirror, glass 2 way sunroof. Not sure if that stuff is stock on the 540i anyway? Car is completely stock apart from crap band expander. I'm going to get the stereo sorted first, looking at getting the SD card reader that Jochen posted. I'd also like to put a 10"sub in and maybe a speaker upgrade. Any suggestions welcome? NZ radio and possibly satnav are also on the wishlist, but not sure if I can justify the expense when it probably wont be used that much. Otherwise it goes plenty well enough for me, though a slightly louder exhaust note and an LSD would be cool. Tyres are useless so looking forward to wearing those out (DSC button helps here) so I can get some decent rubber on there. I'd also consider changing the rims to some nice 18's, though I think the current rims are still nice enough
  5. cheers guys, just what I was after
  6. Anybody know any places you can download car manuals? Looking for one for an E39 540i. Or can someone explain how the parking sensors work (if it has them)? And same for the rain sensing wipers? on all the time or do you switch between manual and auto somehow? Cheers
  7. just got it a few hours ago. $21 at big red shed.
  8. I just sold one of my cars on trademe, never putting a cellphone on there again. Had soo many dropkicks texting stupid offers. If someones keen they'll call. I was pretty happy the first person to come round offered me what I wanted. Could maybe have got more but for the sake of a few hundred dollars just not worth the hassle.
  9. +1 one for the parrots. Work vehicle had a hard wired one, played music from cellphone too though quality for that was crap, not sure if that was phone or parrot kit though

I was impressed with my flatmates VTi Civic, used fcuk all gas and still went and handled pretty well. Not sure what shape its called, might have been late 90's?

^ same here, didnt have a proper camera but would have token photos of the exact same cars above. Favourites were the 997 GT3, F355, and of course the E30 M3's
  12. Agree with all of that post. 7th form rocks and so does first year uni away from home. hell, you can spend the first year just doing random degrees and you might find something you like.
  13. Thats how I did mine, sealed box against the rear bulkhead. Actually still have the box lying around somewhere if anyones interested... http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....ic=8920&hl= (Note the box is only half as big as it looks there - false cover goes over the box and has hole for the amp, might still have the cover too)

    European Contiki

just got back on monday from 1 month over there. I was with 4 other mates and we got a car for 23 days. I really cant remember all the places we went, we'd just see somewhere that looked cool and turn off. 37 days is a pretty long time, specially if you only in cities. After 2.5 weeks of full on sight seeing, and tourist masses we were ready to spend some time chilling out in the Mediterranean. I agree with a lot of what elmarco said on Venice, prague, munich and amsterdam. I wouldn't be too worries about rushing around, we didnt spend that long in some of the places we went but I know where I want to go back too. How long do you get in Munich? We did three days which was decent-ish. could maybe have done more but a break in the middle to check out Munich and BMW stuff (which was my plan but oktoberfest was too much fun). We only did one night in Amsterdam, definately needed more. I guess it depends what your into, our pace would have been similar to a contiki which was fine for us but we didn't really go to museums or artsy stuff. Money wise I also spent average of 70 Euro per day (food, accom, booze) but we did it on the cheap sometimes. ie, camping on beaches, food n booze from supermarkets. Also had nights where we ate at nice place and were drinking in pubs all night long so sort of evened out. 100 Euro per day should be fine for booze, food and accom if you dont go too silly.
  16. sweet. what code were the old ones? Did you get get hotter plugs? Otherwise it will probably just happen again.
  17. Have you checked your spark plugs? could easily be fouling if they're too cold and your not giving it heaps. Also, dont sell. Just park it up and buy a shitter. Come back to it when your ready. (Just my experience)

    Loose Change.

Might be a dumb question but can someone point out why they'd level WTC 7? Its a nothing building compared to the Twin Towers. Just doesn't make sense, particually when it would just raise so many questions. I mean, the cover up would already be difficult enough, we're only talking thousands of people to silence Fire's a real bitch. Especially when there's no water to put it out. The fire proofing was only rated for 3 hours. Not that long in the scheme of things

haha I've got a Civil/Structural BE and I'm quite convinced it was a plane that brought them down.

as previously suggested: please resize those pics, its not that hard!
  22. Is it too rude to daily drive an M5? Very tempted, but think I'd do too many daily miles on it
  23. Ah, so your talking about individual coil packs or coil on plug. (Both similar, only difference is where the coils live) Individual coils are a bit more difficult to setup because you require a camshaft position sensor (so ECU knows what stroke each cylinder is at). A number of cars wont have this. You also need need an ECU with suffient drivers (one for each coil). This shouldnt be an issue for a 4 cyl but when you get up to 8 (or even 6cyl) cylinders or more you might find you dont have enough drivers for each of the coils. This is because wasted spark on a v8 requires 4 drivers, or 8 for individual. Likewise a 4 cyl require 4 drivers for individual or 2 for wasted spark. This also comes down to the ECU and how flash it is. Biggest advantage is that each coil has twice as long to recharge, could be an issue at extremely high rev's. As mentioned before also means spark plugs only fire when they need to. Hope that helps?
