Yip, only issue sometimes is ball joints. I have my persuading hammer for that though.

Land Transport (Enforcement Powers) Amendment Bill
Mike replied to bravo's topic in General Discussion
I heard an interview with some clown boy racer on the radio... What a winner.I"ve got no problem crushing cars that deserved to be crushed, but a number of people could lose cars for potentially minor offences as Pjay points out. Also - keep this civil guys. Likely to be a few different viewpoints on this so play nice -
This one^. I quite like what Cam suggested, though the downside is that when you are above 3000rpm and modulating the throttle your S/C clutch will be engaging and dis-engaging very quickly and at high speeds and could cause significant wear on the clutch? That frequency switch could take care of that though with the hysteresis function? Or, you could do it another way, have 2 rpm sensors: one is set at 2000rpm and is in series with the throttle sensor (be it microswitch or voltage). This means that both conditions have to be met to engage the clutch. other rpm sensor is set at 3000rpm and will trigger a separate relay that doesn't depend on the throttle position, ie it bypasses this switch. The electronic for using the TPS will be quite simple, probably a transistor and a few resistors, pretty sure its only a variable resistor itself. As soon as the current is high enough the transistor will switch and activate the relay. Google should be able to help you out here? How did toyota do it? See top of this post, dual output so wont interfere with factory ecu.
-
You want the one Brent is talking about. It still retains the normal function of the e30 TPS so will work fine with your factory ecu. But, it also has the variable output of the e36. It will have to be custom wired in and probably some tricky circutry to work but could be done. I'd run the super charger relay completely seperate from the factory ecu, the dual TPS should allow you to do this.

whether the wheels will fit on an e30 depends on the suspension bits you use to get 5 lug. If you use 318ti rear and E36 front then they should fit. If you do it the "proper" way and use e30 m3 gear then they wont fit, and you will need to use 5 series wheels.

Z3, closely followed by the e36 compact. X3 is hideous but not really what the poll is about

People ask these sort of questions all the time and the answer is always the same. TBH there is f**k all you can do to get a decent power increase with $1000. You'd be lucky to see 20hp gains with a remap, I'd be pretty suss of how safe it would be if it did. There cold air intakes you can buy or make, exhaust can be improved also, though I think the M42 headers are actually pretty nice from factory. All up, without opening the engine 20hp is about the most you could expect. Turbocharging is a very different game, lets just say $10k as a starting point. I just dont understand the logic of sticking with the M42? The most sensible option is to buy a more powerful car, end of story.

I'm pretty sure most of the nissan ones are heated wire, or Mass Air Flow (MAF). They are still an Air Flow Meter (AFM) however, which is where the confusion comes from. Flappy paddle style only directly measures volume, not mass. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_flow_sensor should explain most of it. We've gone a bit off-topic here. To answer the original question, assuming you have the correct ECU to function with the AFM then pretty much anything will work, aluminium, stainless, PVC pipe even. Most people run a pod filter and then a few bends and pipe to get to the throttle body, a few brackets a normally required to keep it all in place. What exactly did you have in mind? and what were you hoping to achieve?
-
Yip, M20 is flappy paddle (AFM) while M50 uses hot wire sensor (MAF). Both sit in the middle of the intake somewhere. The names are sometimes interchanged as they both measure airflow (but in a different way)
-
Not quite, M50 uses MAF, which is a little different to AFM. I remember reading somehwere about adapting an M50 loom to an M20, with the right sensors attached and a re-map to suit I think it could work. But then why use the shitty M20, just go with a complete M50.

I've just been going through the same thing. Visa Gold card is the cheapest option but it wont be available to everyone, and they do raise your credit limit by a pretty decent amount (which I'd rather not have). As mentioned you normally have to pay for the flights with it. In my case I'd paid cash as the travel agent charged more for credit cards, but this was still ok as I had it in writing, and I switched to the Visa Gold on the same day I paid for the flights. It wont be any good if you pay for the flights then a few days before you go try and sort out a card. Also worthwhile ringing the card company and letting them know where you're going, if they see unusual transaction from Kasakhstan or wherever they may cancel your card.

As the title says, brand new 25mm MC from a 750i. Made by Ate, who are OEM suppliers. I believe it will fit a number of other models, definately e30's. I think non-ABS e30's need a second t-line or something like that, r3v has heaps of info on this mod. gus might have even written something about it here. You want this if you have installed after market brakes with bigger pistons, or if you have standard brakes and want a stiffer pedal. $250

I cant get on TM at work, but a friend of mine has a skyline with 15" 4x114 Hartge's on it. Always wondered what was going on there.
-
Thats because your 240 must have been from a M20B20, or were you more referring to the gbox strength? wont this mean that the gearbox is twisted back 10degrees though, so a custom tranny mount should be used? yes, but that doesn't mean the gearbox's from each will work with each other properly because the engines dont all sit on the same angle. As has already been said in this thread, the 240 from an M40 will fit fine behind an M50, better so than the 240 from the M20, as this will have the wrong angle.
-
True, but dont some of those motors sit on a different angle? I know the M50 and M20 are different, but is the M40 the same as M50 or M20?
-
Maybe there is 3 different versions of the 240 then, one for the M10, another for the M20, then another with the same pattern as the M20, but rotated to suit the M40. Do the M40 and M42 share the same box?
-
Other cause could be a bent rim, sometimes wheel balancing can fix this but not always. They can sometimes miss it too when they do the balance.

Post up price and pics please, see rules here: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=20961 Thanks

Nice work, but I'm a bit worried about the surface smoothness of the block seeing as you only used emery tape? when I did mine I only cleaned of the old gasket and left it. I could be wrong but might be worth enquiring to cometic to see if they think it will be smooth enough to allow the gasket to seal properly. I'd just hate to see you do all this work then have to do it all again because of a minor oil leak at the HG.

MSport arms? As tony said you need the E36 M3 Evo arms, these arms have extra castor built into them and are different to all other e36/e30 arms.

chill dude, it hasn't even been 2 hours

good to know I wasn't the only one rarked up by that. how on earth does that rubbish get that much coverage

they probably could do with a beating but there so many situations when weapons end up being used against the person who brought them. Just tell them to f**k off, and let the cops know. My little bros bike got pinched a while back, found some teenage punks with it round the block. I confronted them, got into an argument, got it back then called the cops by which time they'd gone. The cops actually caught them when they (sh*t-for-brains) ran into a shop and called the police themselves. Turns out they were being chased by someone who's house they'd broken into. Fricken genious. Worst thing was they were only 16, we had to go through all that family court victim crap. Little punk just sat there pulling faces while his trailer trash mum tried to say he was actually a good boy. little homo probably never been told off in his life. Definite case for "self defense" whack hah - anyone see that case at hutt high. half a dozen gang members went into the school looking to deal to one kid. The half the school jumped on the gang and kicked the crap out of them. Gang got arrested, charged, and a few broken bones. Where are they breeding these specimens?
