  1. I filled my E46 M3 with Challenge 95 fuel the other day. I don't know if it's just my imagination but it seems far more responsive than the mainstream suppliers. It genuinely feels like it wants to go. Anyone else found this?
  2. How about a his and hers special for $100k? Pristine condition 535i with 5000k on it and a 2004 M3 vert (hard top with smg) with 130k - best of both worlds.

    'THE' M3...

That sucks, especially as you've only had it a short while. I reckon it heard you lusting after the E92 M3 last week, and thinking it's life was over asked the other car to put it out of its misery.
  4. Not worth more than 5k...if that.
  5. A small pressure washer (waterblaster) is the way to go. No chemicals and is the same cost as a few cans of wheel cleaner poo.
  6. I agree...ban all diesel cars. Modern diesels have a chemical factory bolted to the back of the engine as the crap in diesel has to be filtered out to make it burn cleanly. These particulate filters self clean during a controlled high temperature regeneration cycle - the invisible chemical crap is a major pollutant. It's irresponsible to own a diesel these days.
  7. F^(^&* that lot. The same thing is $11.00 cheaper at Supercheap, plus I would have got the points on my clubcard. I can't believe it....
  8. Problem solved...I bought Turtle Wax Trim Restoring gel for $43.00 from Ripco. Speaking of whom, I went in there to buy an LED number plate 'bulb' and they don't carry any LEDs because there are 'no reliable brands'...how LOL is that?
  9. I am a bit fussy over my exterior black rubber/plastic trim and I just can't find a product that works on the plastic (or whatever it is) housing around the lower windscreen wiper & vent area as it tends to get a bit discoloured/whitish. The best results I ever got on a previous car was with gtechniq C4 http://www.gtechniq.com.au/articles/__C4_Trim_Restorer_/23 but it is a horrendous price for a tiny bottle. It does restore the plastic to black though. Does anyone know if there is a similar product on the shelves in NZ?
  10. 100% agree. I put my son in a Celica. Nek minute, up a bank into a tree stump. Thank goodness for the safety features.
  11. Yep, the first time I've seen an actual picture on the screen. And I still have AV in and out so will install a media player also.
  12. I ordered a reversing camera off Ebay for my e46 M3 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/99-11-BMW-3-Series-E46-E90-E91-E92-CCD-PAL-Car-Backup-Rear-View-Reverse-Camera-/331042845207?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d13b0f217 I knew that it wouldn't fit my convertible but took the risk that I could make it fit. When it arrived it was a simple matter of unscrewing the rear housing and using body tape to mount it in the number plate light hole. I used this e46 AV cable off Ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AV-Video-Audio-In-Out-Cable-BMW-E38-E46-E39-X5-X3-Z4-Z3-/350909530580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item51b3d681d4 I got the 12V relay for switching the earth from Jaycar. The hardest part was feeding the wires through the flexible tube from the boot lid. It was a fiddly job but I made sure it was all done neatly - it took about 7 hours all up but was pleasantly surprised when it all worked. I didn't realise all the parking guides appear overlaid on the picture.
  13. Just out of curiosity why do you specify that it must be a NZ cluster? The odo miles readout can be easily coded to km and an identical to OEM km/hr only cluster gauge insert can be purchased for about 100 bucks from Europe. A bit fiddly to fit, but it sounds like you have the skills to pull the needles off without damaging the spindles.
  14. Highway clowns who just cannot see that moving left long before two lanes merge will allow the traffic to continue moving. Instead everyone races up the right hand lane and clogs everything up.
  15. Maybe a dollar or two more. Ya have to be suspicious of a company that produces all of these products....surely. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Clarik-Engineering-Supplies/AUTOGLYM-PRODUCTS-/_i.html?_fsub=402379011
  16. This is a thread much the same as 100's of others on all car fora that never ends well. Everybody has a preference whether it be cost or ease of application. The brand of wax adds very little to the finish - it is there to protect. It is the prep and polish that needs to be top quality. Autoglym polish at 15 bucks a bottle suits those who must save money...like the Royal Family. I hear they even share the bath water every three days.
  17. Royal Family...LOL, they have never lifted a polishing cloth in their lives. If you Google any premium car with any product you will get the same marketing result. Try Aston Marton and Zaino, or Maserati and Dodo Juice. All marketing hype.
  18. Autoglym is a low-end budget product in the UK. There are much better polish and wax products available as previously mentioned. Most wash products in my view do a similar job. It is the effort that goes into polishing that makes the difference.
  19. That is really ugly. Some of the Android phone apps do a good job for a few dollars if you really need a HUD.
  20. I like it and if I was in the market for a nice Touring that I wanted to hang on to I would pay 15k for it in a heartbeat. I'm an ex. 2001 330 owner and they really are bullet proof. Small things to watch on older but still low km e46 include suspension knocks, radiator expansion tank, water ingress into lights on cars kept outside.
  21. I went the 19 inch RE050A (High Load) stock sizes front and back for just under $2000. Can't fault them wet and dry.
  22. If you only have normal third party insurance you will not get a single bean out of an insurance company unless the other vehicle was insured AND the damage was their fault. I suspect you have third party fire and theft car insurance which offers agreed value protection. It is a no questions asked policy and you are entitled to the full $3500.00. Point out they advertised no bickering and no buts...you will get the full amount.
  23. Thanks Ray for the offer of help but I really had to nut the tools and procedures out for myself - which I have now successfully done. The effort was well worth it as now my low speed changes seem much smoother and upshifts under load seem significantly faster. Best of all is the accurate rev match when downshifting to 2nd gear. As it can be a bit daunting I'm happy to assist any Wellington area M3 owners should they wish to have a crack at this too. I used V47 of SP-Daten, WinKFP 4.0.1, HexEdit and BMWFlash all running under WinXP on a netbook with a 'BMW OBD Cable' purchased off eBay.
  24. Bump....Anyone in Wellington who can do this?
