    Two into one

Have an exhaust system to modify and would like to hear from those in the know which is the best way to go. What if any performance drop off is their likely to be pipes are 50mm dia. The one system has a two pipe set up from start to finish the other is only at the front as can be seen in the photo. Can run the twin set up almost to the back muffler, black arrows then due to space shape etc need to us the other squarer type muffler. Could cut both mufflers open and run the extra pipe but a lot of work and for what gain I'm unsure. Have looked in Realoem.com and it shows the stock system as being reduced to one pipe in but two coming out thanks for your help and advice.

    "My Family"

Does anyone know how many people were hurt in this carnage and how they all are. It's a shame to see so much bent steel but cars can be fixed people are a little more complicated. The police will no doubt be having a few words to various people.
  4. Hi just my view point the vehicle is 7 years old has done 98,000km and they are asking 17,000 for it with out going any further I would say it is at least 2000 over priced in the current market situation add in the current problem and any other defects found or not by a pre- purchase inspection. Further to that the colour, interior finish and other personal choice items then one could start to form an idea of what one would be prepared to pay. This may seem harsh but don't get carried away because it is a BMW it is only a item for sale which has to fill your needs and wish's you are exchanging cold hard cash for it.
  5. If you are going to have the cooling system overhauled just ask for the parts they replace to be left in the car.
  6. If I may add while you are in that area check the one that goes to the fuel filter, both ends these just fall apart after a while.
  7. Nothing constructive to say then so nothing Daniel Benzin was a term used a few years back for petrol

    e39 vs e60

It is a natural progression for any car manufacture to change and hopefully improve on the model before it each has it's own character good and bad points etc etc. At the end of the day it depends on your taste in cars what is it going to be used for, how much are you prepared to spend to purchase it and then on going maintenance, mechanically minded, like to tinker and fix things, have a talent for electronic's, sound systems and more. These are all good talents if you decide to own a late model beemer as the electronic's in most of them now almost cancels out the average guy from doing mods to them with out it costing the national debt. Do your research on each model and then see what best suits your requirements and pocket.
  13. Are you dead set on the M5?. As I saw a 2008 e70 X5 silver 3.0D NZ new for $45,990 in Palmy
  14. Didn't go that far but did put mesh behind the kidney grilles and lower air intake on the front bumper when I replaced the A/C pusher fan just for a bit more protection against all the crap that gets sucked in.
  15. Would this qualify http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-485995308.htm a bit of bmw history.
  16. Thank you for that thought it might have been a heating element for the window or like. Do they work on pressure/ resistance i.e hand jammed in between window frame and glass it apply's pressure to hand as it travels up and sensors picks up pressure tells window motor stop and reverse down.
  17. Pelican parts No 51718158237 BOE $41.25 US plus freight if it is of any help you may wish to check the one's on each side also as they fall to bits also http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearc...;FILTER_TOOL=ON
  18. Replaced the top strut mounts, bump stops and rubber protectors this afternoon on the front suspension. Does any one have an easy way of stopping the strut rod from retracting down wards making it difficult to attach the top strut nut thanks.
  19. Could you reduce the tip diameter a little maybe, what are they?. As it might give you the clearance you need to tuck them up with out spoiling the look just a thought.
  20. +1 to what has been said before having owned a 530i for 5 and half years and got to know it well. The e39 have their good and bad points as do any vehicle. If purchasing again I would try for a late 2002, after September or early 2003 assemble date as by this time nearly all the items had become standard on them and any bugs ironed out. The 530's are the best in my opinion of the bunch for balance, power to weight and handling could be biased haha!. One takes it that we are talking about the petrol version but would not rule out the diesel only a second slower I believe. Drive as many as you can to see what you like and don't like take your time because you never know what might pop up. Finally when you have decided get it checked over by someone that knows the car type thoroughly can save you $$$$$. The old e39's seem to be hitting their stride now.
