My vote for just the //M, black diffuser.

First photo is a square tail light (post '73) with turbo flares and front air dam. The square tail light ones have square brake lights and all black plastic grilles. The first orange pic has the earlier front with two-tone aluminium side grilles. The pic in the post above has round rear lights but has either had the front grilles painted or somehow converted to plastic ones (still trying to figure out if this is possible for mine, because my alloy ones are nasty). Second photo is probably square light, with a whole lot of body kit and a quad headlight conversion. While I am typing. The Turbo was made towards the end of the life of the 2002, and had a non-intercooled 2 litre M10 with Kugelfisher mechanical fuel injection (like on the 2002tii), but modified to work with boost. Official stat is 170hp vs 130hp. Regular 2002 is 100hp. 2002ti (twin sidedrafts) was 120hp. The Turbo has the arches, a front spoiler/air dam in place of the bumper, a rubber rear spoiler and the side stickers. Some had the front sticker. See Jib's first post of the white one. Turbo's are collectible and about $50k for a good one, so you can build something cheaper/better. There was also a 1502 and 1602 - 1.5 litre and 1.6 litre respectively - and they were older again. The American ones got really ugly bumpers, but we/Europe didn't. Most of the cars pictures so far have some sort of kit (usually turbo flares and air dam). And finally, one of my favourite 2002 projects: http://www.2002turbo.com/ That is all. Apologies for the repeated info. Oh ok, one more. Favourite Swedish 2002: http://forum.savarturbo.se/viewtopic.php?t...highlight=peter Biiiiiig Holset, big cam, low compression, E28 M5 rear axle to cope with ~500hp. Mint.

So the TM one and yours = 50% of NZ's supply on sale.... rare, but apparently not in short supply, LOL.
-
LOL - EXACTLY the same thought process I've been having.
-
Agree with Glenn. Also fuel economy. Almost everything is better with a Lexus V8 - purity be damned.
-
Yeah I should really have made it clearer - I think it's the right decision!
-
Aside form that a little research would show that keeping the price below $700 helps on GST/customs.
-
I think 3.15 will be ok - good for getting to the track, but a bit tall for using there. It's a tradeoff. I doubt it'll do 245kph down the back straight at Puke - it's not long enough. Don't be fooled by the speedo - its at least 5% out.
-
And it appears their premium pricing but poor delivery That better not be your problem.
-
I'd be far more inclined to believe him if he hadn't been a competitor.
-
Leave a message - Gavin's probably busy. No other staff.
-
Fairly standard Type R Honda's (of all variety) are unbelievably quick at the track. Not to be trifled with.
-
And the engine bay at the moment ... crappy cellphone pic.
-
Hmmm, mine's not much to look at for the moment:
-
Ah hell - its just the asking price. You can buy my E36 M3 for $40k if you want. Hell of a return for me.
-
That was me. The headers are the bit that matters and they're not for sale (because they matter).
-
I can probably sort you out with the ring and pinion (free or swap - condition unknown), but I'd like to keep the case/flanges etc.
-
Glenn - it was for you, but Westy has confirmed my maths is close enough. It really depends what you want from the car - if it really is primarily for track, that 3.64 diff ratio would be good as you'll probably about run out of revs at the end of the straight - I would guess you have enough power vs frontal area to hit 210kph. Ask Westy. Alternatively, you could decide what the maximum rpm at motorway speed you are happy with in 5th, and go with that. A shorter diff (within reason) really helps acceleration, but it does get a little tiring. A 3.46 might be a good compromise. If I can find it, I will send you a spreadsheet later on. I have your email somewhere. Alternatively you can plug # in here: http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/revs.html

Can't be that rare - 2 sets in the pic, haha.
-
He he, you'll be back on same size front and rear in no time at this rate.
-
Front toe looks wrong - it isn't near the spec listed there.
-
Definitely wasn't criticising you, or your choices! Only criticising BMW, and their parts pricing. Mostly because I am still smarting from buying a nylon cup (#9) to go at the bottom of one of the linkages on my tii for $30 (should be about $5). I bought it over a year ago. Still bearing that grudge.
-
Obviously not particularly suited for street use, but I got a 6 puck unsprung for the turbo M10 (228mm clutch and modified pressure plate), with throwout bearing, for about $700 incl GST. Would also work on an M20 flywheel. I dunno - maybe I am being too harsh.
-
About $2,000 eh? Ouch. That price for the clutch plate is crap (on BMW's part). There is no reason it should be so high. It's just a clutch and 240mm clutches that hold that kind of torque are common enough (before "M"-tax).
