Sure you didn't just forget where you parked? jk - Dude, that sucks. Hope it gets found intact, but if not.... BMW FTW!

The lack of effort put in to the auction certainly doesn't instill any confidence in me that: a) They know what kind of car they own b ) They've bothered to maintain it with the high standard of care a boosted BMW needs. c) it hasn't been thrashed to within an inch of its life.

I actually cried out "YES!" when the forums page loaded this morning. The GF wanted to know WTF I was so happy about!

Just a joke Paul... you know... one of those stereotypes we all have about various BMW models. 8 series are an electrical nightmare E36 interiors were made by limbless morons The E30 is god's chariot... etc etc.
-
No such thing as a cheap 8 series.

Oooh sexy! You're tempting me to max out my credit card getting mine done now!
-
The Herald printed this? This is just a word for word press release from the company! f**king lazy journalists.
-
We'll let you guys PM it out.

Yes it's SIRE30's car. There is a thread in the for sale forum.

You're safe for now. Needs centrecaps to let the world know you're repping BBS goodness. Mad bargain you got... I love people who have no idea what they have for sale .... although you'd think Jono would!

With = winner. We have the same wheels now. Wasn't it you that said, "RS's are everywhere. Pretty sure an E30 rocking bottlecaps is rarer these days"... or something like that! Welcome to the club.

Pics or ban. And I will... don't push me.

God, I really hope you just forgot to turn sarcasm font on. I really really do.

I'm keeping an eye out for a beat up one to turn into a trackday car. Cage, harnesses, coilovers, ET-0 wheels and some mismatched body panels with race livery and it's no longer a girly car. Have driven a few and the grin is hard to wipe off your face. I'd find it hard to daily a stock one though. I hate to say it, but I do care what other people think to some degree!

Anything deep dish and 16" or less for me. But out of the two choices you've picked, I'd go with LM's.

Sounds like you have the basic spec non-colour matched sideskirts. You can either clean these up with a trim cleaner - I use "Mother's Naturally Black" which works well on things like bumper trims, wing mirrors etc, have them colour matched and painted professionally or if you have the patience and a steady hand, do it yourself with a spray can. My advice, don't use Silicon spray as suggested above. It just leaves a greasy mess, dirt sticks to it and you're forever reapplying it to keep up the shine. I only ever use the stuff on my tyres because at least the rubber somewhat absorbs it.

The goods have to be new if you want to have them as a raffle prize. And I'm pretty sure "sort of new" doesn't count.

Call BMW? Or Gavin at Euro Italian?

Wow, you must REALLY love Link ECU's eh?

So, are you hoping someone posts a full step-by-step guide written entirely by them off the top of their head which you can then print out and follow while you work? Or are you hoping someone posts a link to a site with more information? My guess is you're probably after the latter... in which case you could just Google the subject yourself. This isn't a particularly simple undertaking. I suggest you try and get your hands on the whole donor car rather than just the engine and gearbox so you can grab any other parts you might need off it. Also, the Z3 will be OBDII, while your car is OBDI which will mean you'll have issues with the EWS security system (This shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have all the wiring/ignition system from the Z3 to rewire your car). How mechanically minded are you? You'll also need the front brakes and suspension from the Z3 as well - the rear brakes and suspension aren't compatible though as that's E30 stuff... you'll have to find another donor 6 cyl E36 for those things. One thing I've noticed in my time here is that people who are very serious about swaps and who eventually finish them do a lot of research first (months and months worth) and then ask very specific questions about aspects of the build when they get stuck. Those who post a thread that says "I might be able to get a INSERT ENGINE, how do I put it in my INSERT BMW MODEL?" don't end up getting any further than those few keystrokes. Simplest and cheapest solution: Buy an M3.

It'll be a piece of piss... Just undo the four bolts holding in the M40. Put them aside carefully. Then with the help of a mate lift the S50 (remember, bend from the knees) into the gap and bolt it straight in. Then, put on your driving gloves, put some Whitesnake on the stereo, crank your S50 swapped 318i in to life and go cruising for chicks. Seriously though... how long is a piece of string? Do some research, there's a whole internet of S50 swaps out there. P.S: Not trying to be a cock... but your question is pretty open-ended.

^^ You've posted the performance figures for the ETA 2.7 engine found in the the 325e and 525e which were built to be a very torquey engine that could cruise comfortably without using a lot of fuel. The 2.7 conversion everyone talks about uses the block from one of these 2.7 engines with the high-flow head from the 325i or 323i to give a large power and torque increase over the standard M20B25 engine. These can put out 200hp (@ flywheel) or more with a proper tune. Two completely different kettles of fish.

So it seems that BMW instigated the chrome one-piece angel eye headlights themselves. Yuck.

Let's sit back and watch as the peach-fuzz facial hair and backwards hat brigade clamber over each other to take it for a test drive for you Graham! Haha! This car caught my eye too... exceptional price considering the upgrades.
