Mine were chemically cleaned, A wuurth product I think. Just takes a while to eat into carbon, end result is great! -
Not sure what the Dinan badging means to sales or collection values. Looking at magazine article, turbos would appear to be stock, so would have, unless updated, the usual, N54 wear, wastegates, thrusts, bearing issues, etc. Heaps of options now for N54, turbos in US are cheap and much stronger, so don't be put off by maintainance. I have owned a few BMWs, but nothing as satisfying as my 335 E91. If the price is right, go for it.

Indeed! Some vehicles become so gummed up it effects valve to seat sealing. Had mine cleaned late last year, replaced injectors(index 12) at same time. Ugly $$ price, but what a differance!! Car just flew, haven"t had any codes since. -
Nice shot, great looking car!

Intercooler is easy to upgrade and not to costly. 1+ is a big jump from stage 1.

Looks good Jon.

N54 335i New Turbos/Compressor Housings
smiddy replied to smiddy's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
100.000km and 11 years old, mounts must be tired, 'while in there'. -
As Herb says, lot of labour and one of those 'while your in there' situations. Almost gaurantee turbos will have end float in shaft,(thrust) worn. Rattle fix itself is not overly differcult, but if you are looking at keeping car for a while, and upping boost etc, turbo core rebuild with upgraded bearings and thrusts is the way to go IMO. Just to much to remove within the work scope not to tidy up and gain reliability going forward. I'm about to do just that, taken long time, covid hasn't helped, shipping of parts, bit of a nightmare, but changing lots, mounts, lines, hoses, etc. Good luck with purchase, great ride.

Be differcult to value this vechicle without having a good- good look, who did repair, certfied? Subframe/ tracking issues?? If it was written off, it would be a decent whack! Or parts required to repair, not availale on request??

Available fueling options, (octane) is stumbling block here, certainly not a daily with this setup. Nice car, great work and mods.

335i WTB 2009 (or newer) 335i Touring
smiddy replied to SmackJackTheCrackerMan's topic in Want to buy
Personally i would not put those wheels on a trailer, but i understand peoples need for choice. Colour and spec is good, car is similar to my ride. Good luck with your purchase, great ride that can rattle many upper priced vehicles in performance.- 7 replies

Less of a bottle neck now in turbo outlet. Will get the file out to tidy up. Thanks to Dan at Brugar Engineering, Takapuna. -
Lot of knowledge here regards N54, great satisfaction to drive when maintained. Large performance gain capacity with this motor, great chassis, just needs well spent $.

Yes, my thoughts also, just want more flow volume for a balanced more linear power curve with bit more top end without down speed slump, if pump is tired will upgrade. Inlets, DPs, hot side outlet mod, forge diverters to fit, should at least flow. -

Wanting to stay around 16-18 psi peak, will probably require LPFP. Will get it all running and take some logs and contact MHD, a few of this spec hybrids out in market now, like RB ones. Hopefully they have a tune file i can just flash. -
2.5 inch x 4 inch dia stainless cats, come with stainless flanges, gaskets and tube for fitment options. Ideal for engines to 6ltr, good option for high flow turbos or older V8 vehicles with clogged cats. Complete $180 pair

Not much to achieve with this exhaust, power wise, cat removal from down pipes appears to be the main restriction, but only really if tuned. Very easy to get a loud, droney car if you start cutting/ deleting mufflers etc. Aftermarket products are costly and at 10-15 hp at most.

N54 335i New Turbos/Compressor Housings
smiddy replied to smiddy's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
Pretty much ready to go, new cores, comp housings, 14 T billet wheel, 9 blade turbine, new wastegate flapper valves, actuators. Am told spool times with this setup is on par with ball bearing units, should be good. Got silicone inlets, outlet mod to OEM squashed tube section, downpipes. Like the sound of a catted exhaust, mellow and deep, have a couple of narrow 200 cell metal core units, will try and fit directly to down pipe exit flanges behind trans tail shaft.
