  1. Yes. But dealers take what they are given. But whats worse is that most of the time you can't even order a manual anymore. dealers will tell you that "modern auto's are just as good". Best I have had was "drag cars are auto, so thats what you want' When I ordered my new Ford Ranger, I was told to buy an auto for resale, they even offered me an auto at a cheaper price and said manual is hard on resale value.. I waited for a manual and don't regret it, well aside from the fact Ford limit the power in the manual in first and second gears. I had a new Mazda CX5 Limited last week as a loaner, was an awesome car with a lot of great features, handled really well, enough grunt, all the toys.. only problem was the gearbox. No manual option, even though they sell a lot of them as manual in Europe. With a manual gear bit it would be a very enjoyable car, with an auto its simply something to sit in.
  2. Was quick out of bed with a bum period. Switched back to a high protein diet and I am a little scared to fart TBH. Thanks for asking. Im just glad my chassis isnt stiff like yours, I would have seriouse problems on my daily comute. To the original topic, I am looking for a new daily ATM, hence I am on bimersport looking around. Manual is top of my list, followed by station wagon and nice steering… then economy and reliabilty come into play. My daily comute is 50km on back roads, dead back roads, so a manual that steers is what I need. Must say, manual is hard to find these days, unless you go for a sports type car. Was impressed that 80% of the cars I looked at in Europe were manual, just wish they were available here.
  3. I don't need any of it. But its nice to have in traffic, the thing this topic is about. Do you need any of the junk listed in your signature on your car? I mean, is it a race car? Do you take it to the track? I bet modern driver aids are a hell of a lot more useful than a cross brace on a mall crawler.
  4. My Ford Ranger only shuts off when its in neutral at the lights. I got used to it after a week. Cars have come a long way, a modern manual is so easy to drive in traffic, the last couple I have had as drivers had all sort of tech to make it easy, hill start assist, anti stall etc. Driving my old 205 on the other hard, well, thats not fun in traffic at all.
  5. It was a good drive alright! To his advantage, he was seeded right down the list, giving him some very swept roads. The top 10 couldn't even accelerate let alone turn on many stages. I love seeing young guys doing well in lesser machines, thats why rally is awesome sometimes, on a blind road it comes down to talent not budget and repetition like it does on a track. The little TI is a great platform for rally, there are some very fast drivers in TI's here in NZ. BMW's were good on ice back in the 90's!
  6. I no longer have any problems like this... people just let me in. Funny that.
  7. Ask Paul Walker's opinion on 10 year old tyres.. oh wait.

    Criminal ?

Did you run a OBD scan though Glenn? Seriously though, that is bad.. I have missed one on my car before when the self locking nut on the other side didn't catch, one missing out of three was not so bad... by the time I got a new nut the other three were looser for sure.
  9. Bugger. Off on holiday that day, would have been keen to take the Megane out. Noob's, just be aware this is a test day and some people are testing, brakes etc, I nearly had my biggest track incident at one of these days when a E30 series guy "tested" his brakes half way down the front straight, must have missed him by an inch at over 180kph. Have fun.
  10. This is what we use. Boom.
  11. I have eagle F1's on my Clio. They are perfectly acceptable and were cheap. Pleasantly surprised TBH. Put it this way, the car is slow and has never been overtaken on a B road. Would trade again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. 225 front. 235 rear based on rim size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. If you go sway bars, the softer VoGTLand springs might be a good combo. Personally, I found them to be way too soft for my driving, would always recommend H&R or Eibach instead, the stiffer springs will negate the need for sway bars. I would check out the cost of Bilsteins or Koni's while you are at it. Simply fitting springs to OEM shocks is always a compromise in performance, the OEM shocks will never keep up with the spring.
  14. The GPS tracker is funny, I have busted a mate who was doing a WOF on my race car, he was shocked when I told him I got a call from the Police saying my car had been spotted at high speed in an industrial zone, had him going for days. I have the opposite problem. The Renault Tech's drive too slow. I tried to explain problems I have had with the car but they could not replicate it.. so I had to take the tech for hot lap to show him what was happening at high revs etc... was a spark plug, but they replaced just about everything else on the ignition before checking the cheap spark plugs... must have been a $1,500 warranty claim for a spark plug. TBH, anyone I leave my cars with I have no issue with them driving the car as they see fit, I know that they could never beat it as bad as I do.. haha.
  15. Doing the same, over two months or so.. Its great fun planning.
  16. They did sell the touring up until the mid 90's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Awesome car, best of luck with the sale. Love those wheels and kit.
  19. Cheers. I don't have either so that a bonus!! I tell ya. Its liberating to think I can go oversea's for an extended period and if I like somewhere I can just stay there. Awesome. Will come back next year and get a job as so I can go racing and buy a house again... maybe out of Auckland though! Hope it crashes soon.
  20. I love how they consider 0-60MPH in anything under 10 seconds fast! Boy cars have come a long way. Here is one on the BMW's
  21. Waits for copy to be uploaded. I have been enjoying these retro car reviews as of late.
  22. Loving Auckland house prices.... blown away at the offers on my property. Also. Loving being retired for the next few months or so... First time since I was 15 years old that I am unemployed. Going to the gym at 9am when there are no f**kwit grunters there looking at my pathetic lifts and scoffing. Kabab place up the road that makes me a chicken Salad every night. But most off all. I love the freedom of having 0 dept and paying 0 interest for the fist time in 12 years... intact, I am getting paid interest! its crazy. Have discovered that being rich, is answering to no one and having no dept or other commitments holding your creative ability and freedom back... and the ability to use your time as you see fit. Choose Life.
  23. Considering it will only do 240 makes it even more a joke... not that the Megane car do 270+, I think the most I could get it to was just over 250kph. But great that it encourages you to sit at 130, and the way it handles you can just sit there in a back road. I like that BMW still have the same old classic, simple and clear instruments in even the latest cars, why mess with a good thing.
  24. Yep, they are starting to import them into the US, a car like that would be worth mega bucks.. something to consider. Also. Another reason why Renault are better than VW, they know the speeds you like to drive so they make them nice an big... who the f**k actually goes 100.. haha
  25. Its funny, these cars will always seem modern to me, I remember when the first ones were sold NZ new and they started racing them in the touring cars.. Just compare the tech and style of this to a BMW M3.... I would still take a 89 M3, but boy these were futuristic! Thing is with the GTR, IMHO, it doesn't have the classic feel to it, there for it may take a bit longer to get up in value... I would be marketing this car state side, might be worth double or triple that price there. Also GODZILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
